12 RPF Personnel of SCR Selected for Ati-Utkrisht Seva Padak Awards and 20 for Utkrisht Seva Padak Awards

Thirty two Railway Protection Force (RPF) Officials of South Central Railway were bestowed with the prestigious Ati-Utkrisht and Utkrisht Seva Padak for the year 2019 from the Ministry of Home Affairs in recognition of their meritorious service and dedication towards duty. 12 RPF personnel of SCR were awarded with Ati-Utkrisht Seva Padak and Twenty RPF personnel were awarded with Utkrisht Seva Padak.

The Utkrisht and Ati-Utkrisht Seva Padak Medals were instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for the permanent police personnel throughout the Indian Union in consideration of the long term service medal based o­n the length of service after 15/20 years.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR complimented the awardees for their achievement. He stated that all the officials have been serving the zone with utmost dedication and devotion to duty and exuded confidence that the RPF will continue to excel. The General Manager advised the RPF personnel to carry o­n their exemplary work in providing security to all Rail users and property.

The Director General, Railway Protection Force, New Delhi complimented all the awardees o­n being conferred with the medals in recognition of their commitment and excellent service to the Nation.

RPF/ER BUSTED A RACKET OF FAKE APPOINTMENT IN RAILWAY AT RISHRA, HOOGHLY

Acting o­n source information regarding movement of a gang operating for fake appointment in Railway at Rishra in Hooghly district, a special team comprising officers & staff of CIB, RPF/Howrah, RPF Posts Howrah South, Howrah Goods Yard and Seoraphuli kept surveillance over Rishra area. o­n 23.12.2020, the RPF team apprehended two persons alongwith five victims near Rishra Railway station with recovery of fake appointment letters and other fake documents in a Honda City Car. o­n interrogation, the arrested kingpin confessed that he fraudulently took ₹. 7 – 10 lakhs from each candidate for giving job in Railway. The arrested accused persons were handed over to GRP/Seoraphuli for further legal action.

It has been widely publicized that appointments in Railways are made based o­n merit list prepared o­n the basis of performance in the Railway Recruitment Examination. Railway has done elaborate campaign to communicate to all the candidates not to be trapped in the hands of fake job racketeers. For getting jobs in Railway, they should appear at the examination conducted by Railway Recruitment Board and Railway Recruitment Cell. For securing any job in Railway, no bribe is required to be paid and selection is made o­n the basis of results in the recruitment examination. Hence, all are requested to beware of the job racketeers.

ER’S RPF ENSURING SECURITY OF THE PASSENGERS AND THEIR BELONGINGS
Kolkata, July 30, 2020:
ER’s RPF continuing its efforts to ensure security of the passengers and their belongings vis-a-vis acting as a saviour of the passengers, especially protecting the women and children. Some of such recent good activities of ER’s RPF are as follows:
i)On 28.07.2020, ER’s RPF recovered an unclaimed bag containing Silver bracelet, silver ring, Samsung Mobile phone and cash from Train No.02358 (Amritsar – Kolkata Super-fast Special train) at Kolkata station. Later, the recovered bag was handed over to its owner after proper verification and documentations.
ii)On 26.07.2020, after getting information about a left behind bag, RPF at Sahibganj retrieved the left behind bag containing personal belongings, from Train No.05955 UP (Dibrugarh – Delhi Special train) o­n its arrival at Sahibganj Railway station. The recovered bag was handed over to its owner after due verification and documentation.
iii)On 24.7.2020, RPF rescued a runaway teenage girl from Howrah station premises. Later the rescued girl was handed over to her father after proper verification and documentation.

Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal praised the commendable deed of RPF Constable Shri Inder Singh Yadav and announced a cash award to honour him. Shri Yadav demonstrated an exemplary sense of duty when he ran behind a train to deliver milk for a 4 months old child.
Smt Sharif Hashmi was traveling with her husband Shri Haseen Hashmi along with her 4 months old child in Shramik Special train from Belgaum to Gorakhpur. Her baby was crying for milk, as she didn’t get to feed milk for her child at any previous station and asked help from the constable Shri Yadav at Bhopal Station.
Shri Inder Singh Yadav immediately raced and brought a packet of milk from a shop outside Bhopal Station but the train started moving. The constable showed his humanity and courage by running behind a moving train and provided the packet of milk to the lady in the coach.

RPF/ER continues to provide cooked meals to needy people following the Nation-wide lockdown due to COVID-19. The food is being prepared by RPF/NGO & IRCTC and the same is being distributed every day by RPF personnel all over the jurisdiction of ER.
In this process, today (27.4.2020) cooked food (lunch) were distributed among 2301 persons at different locations in and around Kolkata like Fairlie Place, Howrah, Sealdah, Bidhannagar, Park Circus, Ballygunge etc. and far-off places like Ranaghat, Srirampur, Seoraphuli, Nabadwip Dham, Barakar, Asansol, Madhupur, Jasidih, Dumka and Malda. Out of this large quantity of food, RPF/NGO/other organizations prepared food for 1176 persons, and the rest food for 1125 persons were prepared by IRCTC.
Moreover, dinner for a total of 1230 persons are also being prepared o­n date and the same will be distributed among the starving people by RPF personnel at various places. Out of this, food for 280 persons will be prepared by RPF/NGO/Others & the rest food for 950 persons will be contributed by IRCTC.

Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Central Railway has released the result for recruitment of constable for Central Railway, Western Railway, West Central Railway and South East Central Railways in all categories of Male, Female and Ex-serviceman candidates. o­nline applications were invited from eligible candidates to fill up 440 male and 712 female vacancies in June 2018 against Employment Notice No. Constable/RPF-01/2018 and about 1.6 Lakh applications were received.The computer based test (CBT) was conducted in January 2019 and 96000 candidates had appeared. Thereafter Physically Efficiency Test (PET) and Pre- Medical Test (PMT) was conducted in the month of April/May 2019.After documents verification the final merit list was drawn and the candidates have been empanelled as Constable/RPF as under:

Police Commemoration day observed by RPF
Police Commemoration Day was observed at Railway Protection Force (RPF) Training Centre Moul- Ali, Hyderabad today i.e., 21st October, 2018.
Homage was paid to 414 Martyrs who laid down their lives in line of duty all over India. The Martyrs include 25 officers and staff of RPF and RPSF apart from state police and Central Police Organisations like BSF, CRPF, CISF etc.
Sri Sanjay Sankrityaya, Chief Security Commissioner, Sri A.N.Sinha IG-Director, RPF Training Centre Moula-Ali and Sri G.M. Eswara Rao, Additional Chief Security Commissioner, RPF, SCR, other officers and staff of RPF, South Central Railway laid  wreath and offered floral tributes to the Martyrs at Sahid Smarak. 
The RPF band played Last Post, Abide with Me and Rouse tunes and staff fired in the air as a mark of respect to the Martyrs.

Don’t pull Alarm Chains in Train Coaches for trivial reasons, Southern Railway tells Passengers

CHENNAI: The Southern Railway has asked passengers to avoid pulling the alarm chain unless it’s an emergency.

“Pulling the alarm chain without valid and sufficient reason is a punishable offence under Section 141 of the Railways Act, 1989. The penalty will include imprisonment up to one year or a fine of Rs 1,000 or both,” said chief public relations officer S Dhananjeyan.
The instances of alarm chain pulling is on the rise. As many as 744 cases were registered for unauthorised alarm chain pulling in the zone in the first six month of this year. As many as 737 people were apprehended in this connection and a fine of Rs 2.8 lakh has been collected from them.
“It is noticed that on most of the occasions, the alarm chain was pulled by the passengers for trivial reasons like co-passenger could not board/alight, mobile phone/belongings fallen down or missing, passenger who got down to purchase water/eatables could not board the train, passenger overslept and missed destination, to mention a few. The train in which alarm chain was pulled has to be detained for a considerable time for resolving the system. Moreover, the delay in train operations in which alarm chain was pulled affects the running of the subsequent train services too . The passengers on-board these trains are hassled,” Dhananjeyan said.
Passengers should refrain from pulling the alarm chain. On-board railway staff like train captain, TTEs, RPF train escorts, coach attendants and others can be approached by passengers for addressing issues that arise on the course of journey, Dhananjeyan said.
The services of All India RPF Security Helpline 182 which is functional round the clock can be resorted to. The 182 Helpline crew will alert the field RPF personnel and assistance will be arranged at the subsequent station.
GRP Helpline 1512 can also be accessed for security related assistance. Rail passenger helpline 138 will also render assistance to passengers for redressal of grievances pertaining to on-board amenities.
The Railway Protection Force is keeping close watch on violators and will take stringent action against people pulling the alarm chain without justifiable reason.

FAKE RECRUITMENT NOTIFICATION
A fake Employment Notice with No. 01/2017 is in circulation through Whatsapp/Social network that Railways has invited applications for filling up the posts of RPF Constables. The fake employment notice consists of 7 pages regarding the purported recruitment for 19952 posts of RPF constables with details of Eligibility criteria, Method of Recruitment , Nodal officers (CSCs) etc.The last date for receipt of application forms is given as 14th October, 2017.

In this regard it is to clarify that the notification found under circulation is fake and not issued by Security Directorate, Railway Board or any of the Chief Security Commissioners of Zonal Railways mentioned therein.Public are hereby cautioned not to respond to such false notifications that are purely intended to misguide and trap innocent people.Public are also advised not to circulate the said messages.South Western Railway categorically confirms that all recruitments in Railways for Group-C & Group-D posts are done either through Railway Recruitment Board or Railway Recruitment Cell only.
