Report in social media that Railways is going to cancel special train services from 31st March is misleading.

Kindly refer to some news report in social media that Railways is going to cancel its trains which are currently operational from 31st March,2021 is purely misleading and not based on facts.

Wrong news clips are being circulated in social media.  All may please be informed that the video being circulated is last year's news being peddled today.

Indian Railways has not made any such announcement.

It may be noted that express trains and suburban trains currently operational as special trains will continue to run. It is also requested that the passengers may follow covid protocol while travelling.

RPF/ER BUSTED A RACKET OF FAKE APPOINTMENT IN RAILWAY AT RISHRA, HOOGHLY

Kolkata, December 24, 2020

Acting o­n source information regarding movement of a gang operating for fake appointment in Railway at Rishra in Hooghly district, a special team comprising officers & staff of CIB, RPF/Howrah, RPF Posts Howrah South, Howrah Goods Yard and Seoraphuli kept surveillance over Rishra area. o­n 23.12.2020, the RPF team apprehended two persons alongwith five victims near Rishra Railway station with recovery of fake appointment letters and other fake documents in a Honda City Car. o­n interrogation, the arrested kingpin confessed that he fraudulently took ₹. 7 – 10 lakhs from each candidate for giving job in Railway. The arrested accused persons were handed over to GRP/Seoraphuli for further legal action.

It has been widely publicized that appointments in Railways are made based o­n merit list prepared o­n the basis of performance in the Railway Recruitment Examination. Railway has done elaborate campaign to communicate to all the candidates not to be trapped in the hands of fake job racketeers. For getting jobs in Railway, they should appear at the examination conducted by Railway Recruitment Board and Railway Recruitment Cell. For securing any job in Railway, no bribe is required to be paid and selection is made o­n the basis of results in the recruitment examination. Hence, all are requested to beware of the job racketeers.

FAKE RECRUITMENT NOTIFICATION
A fake Employment Notice with No. 01/2017 is in circulation through Whatsapp/Social network that Railways has invited applications for filling up the posts of RPF Constables. The fake employment notice consists of 7 pages regarding the purported recruitment for 19952 posts of RPF constables with details of Eligibility criteria, Method of Recruitment , Nodal officers (CSCs) etc.The last date for receipt of application forms is given as 14th October, 2017.

In this regard it is to clarify that the notification found under circulation is fake and not issued by Security Directorate, Railway Board or any of the Chief Security Commissioners of Zonal Railways mentioned therein.Public are hereby cautioned not to respond to such false notifications that are purely intended to misguide and trap innocent people.Public are also advised not to circulate the said messages.South Western Railway categorically confirms that all recruitments in Railways for Group-C & Group-D posts are done either through Railway Recruitment Board or Railway Recruitment Cell only.

Bidar police bust railway job scam

Bidar police busted a fake job racket that promised jobs to 15 youth from Bidar in the Indian Railways and robbed them of Rs. 1.35 crore.

They arrested Sanjay Sharma, New Delhi based railway employee, Satish Kulkarni, a constable with the Central Reserve Police Force, and three middlemen from Bhalki - Raju Nelgi, Shekar Nelgi and Manik Nelgi. Another accused Vishnu Rathod of Kalaburgi is on the run. The arrested have been remanded in judicial custody.

The police said they convinced aspirants that they could get them jobs under the Railway Minister’s quota and took money from them. The police have recovered Rs. 88 lakh from the accused.

“The racket was well-organised. The accused gave fake appointment orders to the victims and took them for ‘training’ in the railway station. The victims were made to roam around the railway stations in New Delhi and perform small chores at the station, without attracting the attention of regular employees,” said Prakash Nikam, Superintendent of Police. He also said that the arrested took money from the candidates after this elaborate process, to gain their trust. After a few weeks of “training”, they were sent back to their native places on “leave”. “Following this, they remained out of reach of the gullible youth,” he said.

A team of circle inspector Ali Sab arrested the middlemen first in Bidar district and then arrested Satish Kulkarni and Sanjay Sharma in New Delhi. The Delhi based duo met the aspirants by asking them to meet them near important landmarks, such as like Parliament House or Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mr. Nikam said and added that it was likely that the arrested cheated youth from neighbouring districts and Maharashtra as well.

A man who used to hack train ticket booking website IRCTC to generate fake tickets was arrested from Dakshan Darwaza area in eastern Uttar Pradesh's Basti town on Thursday by a joint team of the Central Bureau of Investigation and railway's vigilance department, police said.
Hamid was arrested by a team of officials from CBI's Bengaluru branch and the Central Railway, which camped in Basti for three days, following an information that he had created a software to sell tickets by hacking the IRCTC website, police officer Rohit Mishra said.
Hamid had tied up with a number of people engaged in the fake ticket racket all over the country and used to book railway tickets using the software, Mishra said, adding that 10 laptops, 16 ATM cards, two PAN cards and Rs 50 lakh in cash were recovered from him.
He was taken on transit remand by the CBI and the Central Railway vigilance team for further questioning, the police officer added.

Railway examiner shocked by a fake season ticket

A lady ticket examiner, Ujwala Gowde, with an eye for detail ensured that a lady passenger, Afrin Shaikh, was apprehended at Dadar's platform number 2 for carrying a fake season pass. Shaikh was handed over to the police.

What raised ticket examiner's suspicion?
According to railway officials, Shaikh, a Mira Road resident, had a 6-monthly season pass from Bhayander to Churhcgate which was 'valid' from January 5 to July 5. However, the word printed in the top left corner of the pass was 'monthly', something that did not escape the eye of Gowde, despite the fact examiners get nothing more than a couple of seconds to check each ticket or pass.

What is unreserved ticket system number?
The season pass was scrutinised and WR personnel realised that the UTS (unreserved ticket system) number was fake. The UTS number printed on the top left of a ticket or pass is a code that is for internal use and gives the railways information on the station and ticket booking window from which the ticket or pass has been issued.

"Since the UTS is a fully computerised system, the entire details of the pass is available once this number is fed into the main computers controlling the UTS mechanism. In this case, it turned out that the UTS number and the details printed on the ticket were not matching, which meant the pass was fake," said a WR official.

How many passes were found?
WR personnel found two more passes from the lady — from July 5 last year to January 5 this year and from July 5 this year to January 5 next year — both of which were fake. With the lady claiming that the pass was given to her by her office, the railway officials said an investigation has been launched to see if this was a bigger racket where some office employees were making copies of passes and distributing them among colleagues.

Was a case registered?
Speaking to dna, Sharat Chandrayan, chief public relations officer, WR, said: "This aspect of the case will be investigated." A case was registered by WR under sections 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of the Indian Penal Code at Mumbai Central railway police station.

For the railways, with just about a thousand ticket-checkers spread across the suburban system to check almost 45 lakh passes, a fraud like the one the lady has allegedly committed could spell a financial disaster. "Since it is impossible to cross-check all passes, the railways does not provide duplicate season passes. That is because there is no way we can cross-check if someone says he has lost his pass, gets a duplicate and then hands it over to some friend of his," said an official.
