Kolkata, 27th May, 2020:
As a part of restoration of Passenger services in a phased manner, it has been decided by South Eastern Railway to reopen all Computerized Reservation Offices over its jurisdiction from tomorrow (28.05.2020).
Reservation Countersat 26 stations of SER are already functioning from 22.05.2020. Considering the need of the general public and to make the ticket booking easy for all intending travellers, now it has been decided that all Reserved Ticket Booking Centers will be functioning from tomorrow except the Metiabruz booking office as it is within containment zone.
However, refund from City Booking Offices viz. Rabindra Sadan, Old Koilaghat will be available from 1st June, 2020 onwards.

NEW DELHI – CHENNAI– NEW DELHI RAJDHANI SUPER FAST SPECIAL TRAINS
Rajdhani Super Fast Special trains between New Delhi and Chennai with revised days of service from 21st May 2020 shall run as detailed below:-
With a composition of 1 AC First Class Coach, 5 AC Second Class Coaches, 11 AC three tier coaches, and two Generator car cum Brake Vans, Train No.02434 New Delhi – Dr MGR Chennai Central Rajdhani Superfast Special will leave New Delhi at 16.00 hrs on Mondays and Thursdays starting from 21st May 2020 to the following stoppages and timings :-
- Agra Cantt ( Arr 18.10 hrs / Dep 18.12 hrs)
- Jhansi (Arr 20.53 hrs / Dep 21.03 hrs)
- Bhopal (Arr 00.15 hrs / Dep 00.25 hrs)
- Nagpur (Arr 05.45 hrs / Dep 05.50 hrs)
- Warangal ( Arr 11.48 hrs / Dep 11.53 hrs)
- Vijayawada (Arr 14.35 hrs / Dep 14.37 hrs)
- and reaching Dr MGR Chennai Central at 20.40 hrs on Tuesdays and Fridays (Day 2)
In the return direction, Train No.02433 Dr MGR Chennai Central – New Delhi Rajdhani Superfast Special will leave Dr MGR Chennai Central at 06.35 hrs on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting from 23rd May 2020 to the following stoppages and timings :-
- Vijayawada (Arr 12.21 hrs / Dep 12.26 hrs)
- Warangal (Arr 15.22 hrs / Dep 15.24 hrs)
- Nagpur (Arr 21.10 hrs / Dep 21.15 hrs)
- Bhopal (Arr 02.40 hrs / Dep 02.50 hrs)
- Jhansi (Arr 05.06 hrs / Dep 05.11 hrs)
- Agra Cantt (Arr 07.55 hrs / Dep 07.57 hrs)
- and reaching New Delhi at 10.30 hrs on Thursdays and Sundays. (Day 2)

Guidelines for these trains
The fare structure for this train shall be as applicable for the regular time tabled Rajdhani trains (excluding catering charges).
Only online E-Ticketing will be done through IRCTC website or through Mobile App. No tickets will be booked across the reservation counter on any Railway Station. Booking of tickets through ‘agents’, (both IRCTC Agents and Railway Agents) shall not be permitted. Maximum Advance Reservation Period (ARP) will be of maximum 7 days.
No catering charges shall be included in the fare. Provision for pre-paid meal booking, e-catering shall be disabled. However, IRCTC shall make provision for limited eatables and packaged drinking water on payment basis. Information to this effect shall be made available to passengers during time of booking ticket.
Passengers are encouraged to carry their own food and drinking water. Dry, ready-to-eat food and bottled water shall be provided on demand, inside the trains on payment basis.
All passengers shall be compulsorily screened and only asymptomatic passengers are allowed to enter /board the train.
Passengers travelling by these special services will observe the following precautions :
(a) Only passengers with Confirmed tickets shall be allowed to enter the Railway station.
(b) All passengers shall be wearing face covers/masks at the entry and during travel.
(c) The passengers shall reach the station at-least 90 minutes in advance to facilitate thermal screening at the station. only passengers who are found asymptomatic will be permitted to travel.
(d) Passengers shall observe social distancing both at the station and on trains.
(e) On arrival at their destination, the travelling passengers will have to adhere to such health protocols as are prescribed by the destination state/UT
Zonal Railways have been instructed to ensure that there are separate entry and exit gates at Railway stations to the extent feasible so that there is no face to face movement of passengers. Zonal railways will be guided by standard social distancing guidelines on stations and trains and observe the safety, security and hygiene protocols.
All passengers are advised to download and use the Aarogya Setu application.
No Linen, blankets and curtains shall be provided inside the train. Passengers are advised to carry their own linen for the travel. The temperature inside AC coaches shall be suitably regulated for this purpose.
No stalls/ booths on the platforms shall be opened. No train side vending would be permitted. Passengers are advised to travel light.
As per MHA guidelines the movement of the passenger(s) as well as the driver of the vehicle transporting the passenger(s) to and from the Railway Station shall be allowed on the basis of the confirmed e-ticket.
Guidelines for Quarantine for persons coming from outside state to Tamilnadu:
As per the guidelines of the TN Govt issued on 11th May, 2020, regarding Covid-19 - Testing and Quarantine Guidelines for Incoming persons - revised orders, with reference to the MHA order No.40-3/2020 - DM-I(A) dated 5/5/20
Persons from Other States/Union Territories:
Testing be done on all persons coming into Tamil Nadu from all the States/UTs. If they test positive, they will be taken to a hospital. In case, if the result is negative, such persons be continued in institutional quarantine facility for 7 days, in respect of persons coming from Hot Spots (Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra) - After 7 days, if the individuals display no symptom, they can be sent to home for home quarantine, or continued in Government quarantine, if the individual does not have facilities at home for the remaining 7 days as well.
Where in a coach, even a single passenger is tested positive, all other passengers who travelled in the coach, though tested negative, will be put to institutional quarantine in their district, for 7 days, followed by home quarantine at their place of stay for 14 days.
The accommodation facilities for quarantine purpose will be facilitated by Tamilnadu government and option will be given to passengers for either paid accommodation or free of cost.

Due to necessary electrical maintenance work ofDelhi P.R.S. (Computerized Passenger Reservation System),the PRS activities will remain temporarily closed for 5hours 35 minutes from 11.00 p.m. on 13.07.2019 to 04.35 a.m. on 14.07.2019. Therefore, all the services of Delhi PRS, i.e. reservation/cancellation activities, internet booking , PRS enquiry on 139 , EDR services of Delhi PRS , SMS services of all PRS will not be available during the above period. Although, enquiry on indianrail.gov.in website will be available.

Google Pay starts Railway Ticket bookings in India
DELHI: In what could become a major use case of Google Pay (earlier named Tez) users in India, the digital payments app will allow railways ticket booking through its platform.
The service is being powered by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
In a statement the company said that the feature will be made available in the travel and transit section of the application and can be used by smartphone users across Android and iOS.
Google Pay users can also browse for train options, book tickets and even cancel them through the app. Additionally users can also check seat availability, journey duration also compare travel time.
“Two out of every three transactions on Google Pay come from 3,00,000 of India’s towns and villages, well beyond India’s largest metros. The train ticket booking feature addresses an important need for Indian users, right within the app and is another step to making the lives of our users easier and more convenient with Google Pay,” said Ambarish Kenghe, Director, Product Management, Google Pay.
Leveraging the success with cab and bus bookings on the Google Pay app, the California headquartered search engine giant intends to scale up train bookings massively as well.

South Eastern Railway has taken initiatives to encourage cashless transaction at booking offices, ticket counters and parcel offices for purchase of railway tickets and booking of luggage through Point of Sale machines spread over 4 divisions of its jurisdictions.
As of now, 488 Point of Sale (POS) Machines have been installed at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) Counters, Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) Counters, Parcel offices at Metropolitan City Stations, Suburban and non-suburban sections of South Eastern Railway. Initially the facility was extended to all counters of PRS and this has also been extended in a greater way at the counter of Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS). Parcel offices are now equipped with POS machines and South Eastern Railway has also introduced such facility in non-suburban sections along with some static catering units.
Passengers may use Point of Sale machines to purchase season tickets also for their convenience apart from UTS mobile Apps, which have been introduced in all sections of SER jurisdiction in recent past.
The objective of railways is to its ticket sale system to be completely cashless to reduce higher cost of managing ticket windows. Cash dealing in reservation offices and at stations is tough task for the booking officials. It will also be beneficial for Booking and Parcel Clerks as well if railway provides enough Swipe Machines across the Railways.

Indian Railways introduces OCR Kiosk Machines for quick printing of tickets booked through UTS Mobile App for suburban commuters.
Western Railway becomes the first Zonal Railway to introduce this facility from today i.e. 11th January, 2018 on its five Mumbai Suburban Stations.
Indian Railways continues to take steps based on new technology to facilitate execution of its various activities. It has now been decided to introduce modern Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Kiosk Machines for quick & easy printing of tickets booked through UTS App for mobile phones by suburban commuters.
Western Railway (Hqrs. Mumbai) becomes first railway zone to introduce this facility for its Mumbai suburban commuters of Western Railway. This new facility will make printing of tickets much simpler and quicker. Under this facility just by simply placing the screen of mobile phone displaying the SMS of the ticket booked through UTS Mobile App in the designated slot provided in the OCR Kiosk machine and the machine will simply read the SMS and print ticket immediately.
In the first phase, 25 OCR Kiosks have been planned by Western Railway for installation, out of which 20 Kiosks have been installed and became functional w.e.f today i.e. 11th January, 2018 on five Mumbai Suburban Stations of Western Railway namely Churchgate (1 Kiosk), Dadar (6 Kiosks), Bandra (3 Kiosks), Andheri (5 Kiosks), and Borivali (5 Kiosks). In addition, installation of five more OCR Kiosks at Churchgate is under process and will be installed shortly.
The use of these Kiosks will facilitate the passengers to get print-out of tickets booked through UTS mobile app and also reduce the queues at booking counters/ATVM machines thereby promoting transactions through UTS mobile app. Presently, passengers have to feed their mobile number and booking ID received on their mobiles, in the ATVM machines to get their tickets printed or get it through UTS counter. This new facility of simply placing the screen displaying the SMS in the designated slot provided in the Kiosk will also reduce the time of printing of tickets as the machine will simply read the SMS and print tickets immediately.

RAILWAYS’ ENDEAVOUR TO FACILITATE FOREIGN TOURISTS

For foreign tourists, Railway has extended to facilitate them to book their reserved tickets through internet upto 365 days in advance in all trains including Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Duronto, Gatiman etc.
in Executive class/First AC/Second AC classes with 1.5 times of base fare, subject to observance of following procedures:
ØDuring booking of tickets Passport Number, Nationality and International Mobile Number to be given by the passenger mandatorily.
ØNo concession admissible for such type of tickets.
ØPayment to be made only through international debit/credit cards.
ØDuring journey original passport with valid Visa should be carried.
ØIn this type of advance booking, there will be fixed number of berths.
ØIn case of cancellation of tickets booked under this facility, flat 50% of the fare shall be deducted in addition to the cancellation charges.
ØNo change of name permissible on such tickets under any circumstances.
ØExisting procedure for booking across the counters through Foreign Tourist Quota (120 days in advance) will continue.
ØNo authorized agents can book Foreign Tourist Quota.

Optional catering service shall be introduced on all those Rajdhani/ Shatabdi/Duronto and other similar trains (except Gatiman Express) where catering charges are part of the ticket fare. Such trains under Eastern Railway are (1) 12259/12260 Sealdah -New Delhi-Sealdah Duronto Express,
(2)12273/12274 Howrah-New Delhi- Howrah Duronto Express,
(3) 12301/12302 Kolkata Rajdhani Express,
(4)12305/12306 Kolkata Rajdhani Express,
(5) 22201/22202 Sealdah-Puri-Sealdah Duronto Express and
(6) 12313/12314 Sealdah Rajdhani Express.
(2)12273/12274 Howrah-New Delhi- Howrah Duronto Express,
(3) 12301/12302 Kolkata Rajdhani Express,
(4)12305/12306 Kolkata Rajdhani Express,
(5) 22201/22202 Sealdah-Puri-Sealdah Duronto Express and
(6) 12313/12314 Sealdah Rajdhani Express.
Optional catering services on the above mentioned trains will be provided to passengers booking tickets from 1.8.2017 onwards for the journeys to commence on 1.8.2017 and onwards.
Passengers will be required to mandatorily exercise either of the options at the time of the booking of ticket so as to enable them to be aware of this scheme. Accordingly, catering service will be excluded or included after the mandatory option is exercised by the passengers. The catering charges shall be included in the ticket fare only in case passengers opt for catering services and excluded in case passengers do not require catering services.
Duration of trials of this scheme will be for a period of 180 days subject to mid-term review of the scheme after 3 months.
