Suspicious E-Tickets Blocked by Vigilance Team
282 SUSPCIOUS E - TICKETS OF TRAIN NO. 22956 BHUJ – BANDRA (T) KUTCH EXP. AMOUNTING TO RS. 7.19 LAKHS BLOCKED BY VIGILANCE TEAM
W. Rly’s Vigilance team o­n scrutiny of certain suspicious booking transactions in PRS system detected that the E – Tickets booked in train No. 22956 Bhuj – Bandra Terminus Kutch Express were booked using the same name of passengers o­n different days of Diwali holidays. It is also suspected that the tickets were booked by unauthorized tickets agents using dubious software.
According to a press release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the Vigilance team of W. Rly consisting of Shri Himanshu Kapadiya – Chief Vigilance Inspector, Shri Shaikh Mohd. Zuber – Vigilance Inspector alongwith with Shri Niraj Mehta – Dy. CTI/ADI and Shri Saji Phillip - Dy. CTI/CCM Squad detected that E-Tickets were booked in train no. 22956 – BHUJ – BDTS Kutch express o­n same name group and in same train o­n different days of Diwali holidays for the dates ranging from 1st to 13th November, 2019. Accordingly, 282 suspicious PNRs consisting of 1692 passengers and tickets amounting to Rs. 7,19,100/- were blocked by the vigilance team in PRS system.
Passengers holding E-Tickets in Train No. 22956 BHUJ-BDTS Kutch Express for the above mentioned dates are requested to check the status of their tickets and if found blocked, then they are requested to contact the Chief Reservation Supervisors of Gandhidham, Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central station during office hours and submit their proof of identity. Tickets of genuine passengers will be released and unblocked after verification with original ID and submitting photocopy at PRS office Gandhidham, Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central.

RAILWAYS’ ENDEAVOUR TO FACILITATE FOREIGN TOURISTS 
Kolkata, July 25, 2017 

For foreign tourists, Railway has extended to facilitate them to book their reserved tickets through internet upto 365 days in advance in all trains including Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Duronto, Gatiman etc.
 in Executive class/First AC/Second AC classes with 1.5 times of base fare, subject to observance of following procedures:

ØDuring booking of tickets Passport Number, Nationality and International Mobile Number to be given by the passenger mandatorily.

ØNo concession admissible for such type of tickets.

ØPayment to be made o­nly through international debit/credit cards.

ØDuring journey original passport with valid Visa should be carried.

ØIn this type of advance booking, there will be fixed number of berths.

ØIn case of cancellation of tickets booked under this facility, flat 50% of the fare shall be deducted in addition to the cancellation charges.

ØNo change of name permissible o­n such tickets under any circumstances.

ØExisting procedure for booking across the counters through Foreign Tourist Quota (120 days in advance) will continue.

ØNo authorized agents can book Foreign Tourist Quota.

Travel bookings on mobiles to grow by 67 per cent from 2017 to 2020

Bengaluru: Mobile travel sales in India are expected to rise at 67.1% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2017 to 2020, according to research from marketing technology firm Criteo. Indian digital travelers are most influenced by travel website reviews, posts and forums, especially in the case of millennials. However, they are also influenced by experience from their last trip (50%), as well as internet advertisements of the destination and travel services (56%), respectively.
The report goes on to say that millennials (54%) and baby boomers (44%) most often use the smartphone for online browsing of travel products and services, while generation-X (49%) uses laptops. A person took 6.7 trips in the past 12 months with an average spending on a leisure trip of Rs 55,176 while debit and credit cards are the most popular modes of payment. CAGR of consumer expenditure on leisure would be 9.9% from 2017 to 2020, added the report.
This is already reflecting in the transactions of India’s largest online travel agency Makemytrip, which recently merged with Goibibo. “Mobile bookings reached nearly 74% for our standalone domestic hotel transactions, booked online, and 52% for domestic flights booked online,” said Makemytrip India CEO Rajesh Magow during a call with analysts in January.
Online travel market is expected to grow from $11 billion in FY16 to $18.9 billion by FY20, according to a Goldman Sachs report dated October 2015. Key players in the space include online travel agencies like (OTAs) like Makemytrip and Yatra, besides hotel booking players like Oyo Rooms. Global players like Bookings.com and Expedia are also present in the Indian market. “The Indian travel landscape is changing rapidly, and has seen significant growth in the last decade. With the rise of OTAs, an increase in domestic flights and mid-budget segment hotels, Indian travelers have started spending on leisure and travel heavily,” said Dushyant Sapre, Commercial Director, Criteo India.
“Thus, the trend of weekend trips and seasonal travel has become popular among Indians. Tech-savvy millennials primarily browse for best travel packages and in-destination activities through their mobile phones and OTA mobile apps.”

The Railways wants to charge licence fee on the use of its name, locomotive logo and slogan, ‘Lifeline of the Nation’ from IRCTC and travel agents. The idea, a brainchild of junior Rail Minister Manoj Sinha, suggests that the charge be 1 per cent of the annual turnover clocked by IRCTC and travel agents.

New Delhi: The Railways wants to charge licence fee on the use of its name, locomotive logo and slogan, ‘Lifeline of the Nation’ from IRCTC and travel agents.

The proposal before the Railway Board is to charge individual travel agents and organisations such as the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) for using “associated goodwill” of the Indian Railways to generate revenue for themselves.

The idea, a brainchild of junior Rail Minister Manoj Sinha, suggests that the charge be 1 per cent of the annual turnover clocked by IRCTC and travel agents.

“This (fee) would also prevent misuse of the Indian Railways name and logo by travel agents. A logo at our appointed agent would provide assurance to travellers that they are not being overcharged or swindled,” said a Rail Ministry official told Express.

Co-branded services such as Palace on Wheels, Golden Chariot, Tiger Express and Maharajas’ Express, which are run by other tourist organisations using the infrastructure and personnel of the Indian Railways, would also have to cough up 0.1 per cent of their turnover to the Railways each year.

Sub: Amendment in RTSA Rules.
Please refer to this office letter of even number dated 20.05.2014 forwarding therewith a copy of Authorisation of RTSA Rules, 2014. These rules were challenged in Hon’ble Supreme Court and based on the judgment dated 07.09.2015 passed by . Hon’ble Supreme Court, the representations of RTSAs were examined and certain amendments have been made in. the Authorisation of RTSA Rules, 2014 vide S.O.1426(E) dated 13.04.2016, a copy of which is enclosed,

1.1 IRCTC will make necessary modifications accordingly to implement revised provisions of RTSA Rules, 2014.

2. It has also been decided that all other e-ticketing agents authorised by IRCTC for issuing of e-tickets shall also realise service charges prescribed for RTSAs i.e. @20/- per ticket for Sleeper and 28 classes and Rs.40/- per ticket for all other classes.

2.1 Further, all authorised ticketing agents including RTSAs, e-ticketing agents and also YTSKs should be allowed to book tickets in Suvidha trains without any restrictions.

3. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned.

4.This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railway.
