Central Railway will run Superfast festival special trains between Mumbai and Nagpur to clear the extra rush of passengers as per details given below:

Mumbai-Nagpur superfast festival special

  • 02049 superfast festival special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 19.55 hrs o­n every Friday from 25.12.2020 to 29.1.2021 and arrive Nagpur at 10.25 hrs next day.
  • 02050 superfast festival special will leave Nagpur at 16.30 hrs n every Sunday from 27.12.2020 to 31.1.2021 and arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 06.15 hrs next day.

 Halts: Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Nashik Road, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Malkapur, Nandura, Shegaon, Akola, Murtizapur, Badnera, Wardha

 One way superfast special from Nagpur to Mumbai

  • 02048 superfast special will leave Nagpur at 18.00 hrs o­n 24.12.2020 and arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 07.45 hrs next day.

  • 02047 superfast festival special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 23.30 hrs o­n 15.12.2020 and arrive Nagpur at 13.15 hrs next day.

02074 Superfast Special will leave Nagpur at 1250 hrs o­n 30.4.2017 and arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at 0325 hrs on 1.5.2017.

b) Mumbai-Nagpur Special

2)Train No. 12772 Nagpur-Secunderabad Express scheduled to depart Nagpur at 22:00 hrs o­n 7th January, 2017 is cancelled.

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave approval to construction of a third line

New Delhi: To cope with local demand and smoothen rail traffic, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday gave approval to construction of a third line on several busiest railway routes, including Itarsi-Nagpur, Jhansi-Bina and Mathur-Jhansi sections.

The CCEA meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 280 km-long third line between Itarsi and Nagpur, given approval, is estimated to cost Rs 2,449.91 crore — with anticipated completion cost pegged at Rs 2,882.94 crore — and is expected to be completed in five years.

Besides facilitating travel, the line will provide additional transport capacity for industries in and around the Itarsi-Nagpur section.

Hoshangabad, Chhindwara and Betul districts of Madhya Pradesh and Nagpur district of Maharashtra will be covered by this line.

The CCEA also gave its approval for construction of a third line between Ballarshah and Kazipet at an estimated cost of Rs 2,063.03 crore and expected completion cost of Rs 2,403.22 crore.

The 201.04 km-long railway line is expected to be completed in five years.

Besides facilitating travel, power plants, coal and cement traffic will have additional transport capacity to meet their requirements. Warangal, Adilabad and Karimnagar districts of Telengana and Chandrapur district of Maharashtra will be covered by this line.

CCEA also approved the construction of a third line between Jhansi-Bina and Mathura-Jhansi.

Besides facilitating the travel, goods trains passing through both these sections will get adequate capacity for smooth running.

Jhansi and Lalitpur districts of Uttar Pradesh and Sagar district (Bina) of Madhya Pradesh will be covered by Jhansi-Bina line while Mathura, Agra and Jhansi districts of Uttar Pradesh, Datiya, Gwalior and Morena districts of Madhya Pradesh and Dholpur district of Rajasthan will be covered by the Mathura-Jhansi line.

The Mathura-Jhansi section is a broad gauge double-line on the New Delhi-Mumbai CST route. These projects will enhance capacity, reduce detention and cater for future growth of traffic.

At present, the number of passenger and goods trains on these sections is far more than the capacity, resulting in heavy detention for trains.

The construction of a third line between Vijaywada Junction and Gudur Junction was also given the nod by the CCEA.

Krishna, Guntur, Prakasham and P.S. Nellore districts of Andhra Pradesh will be covered by this line.

The construction of a third line between Rajnandgaon-Nagpur (Kalumna) in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh and Gondia, Bhandara and Nagpur districts in Maharashtra was also given the CCEA nod.

CCEA also approved the construction of a third line between Kharagpur (Nimpura) and Adityapur in West Singhburn districts of Jharkhand.

This line will ease the ever-increasing freight traffic between these sections.

The CCEA gave its approval for construction of a fourth line between Jharsuguda and Bilaspur.

The Jharsuguda-Bilaspur route forms part of the Howrah-Mumbai trunk route passing through major industrial areas. This line plays an important role in transportation of freight and passenger traffic from eastern and southern regions to northern and western regions, and vice versa. In order to meet the growth in the freight and passenger traffic, construction of fourth line on this route was essential.

The CCEA also approved the construction of a second line between New Bongaigaon and Kamakhya of Northeast Frontier Railway in Assam.

The single main line section from New Bongaigaon to Kamakhya via Goalpara is an alternative route to New Bongaigaon-Kamakhya via Rangiya linking Guwahati.

The doubling of New Bongaigaon-Kamakhya via Goalpara route would augment the line capacity for smooth running of trains through the section.

Central Railway has decided to run 6 special trains from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus/Dadar to Sevagram – Ajni - Nagpur to clear the extra rush of passengers on account of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Mahaparinirvan Divas on 6.12.2015.

The details of special trains are as under-

1.Special train No. 01069 will leave Mumbai CST at 16.05 hrs on 6.12.2015 and will reach Ajni at 08.10 hrs next day.

2.Special train No. 01071 will leave Mumbai CST at 18.40 hrs on 6.12.2015 and will reach Sewagram  at 10.30 hrs next day.

3.Special train No.01073 will leave Dadar at 00.40 hrs on 7.12.2015 and will reach Nagpur at 18.00 hrs same day.

4.Special train No.01075 will leave Mumbai CST at 12.35 hrs on 7.12.2015 and will reach Nagpur at 03.30 hrs next day.

5.Special train No.01083 will leave Mumbai CST at 18.40 hrs on 8.12.2015 and will reach Nagpur at 12.10 hrs next day.

World’s biggest Narrow Gauge train network set to Sail into History

Nagpur: World’s biggest narrow gauge network, which part of South East Central Railway’s Nagpur division, is set to become history. Of the 188.91km longest Balaghat-Nainpur-Jabalpur section, trains will stop running on 110km section between Jabalpur and Nainpur from October 1 for conversion to broad gauge. The narrow gauge network of SECR, Nagpur division, at present comprises 628km.

Earlier, the 227km Gondia-Balaghat-Nainpur-Jabalpur narrow gauge section was the longest. Of this, 42km section between Gondia and Balaghat was converted to broad gauge in 2005-06. The 77km section between Balaghat-Nainpur will close from November 1. Other sections that will also close from November 1 include Chhindwara-Nainpur (141km) and Nainpur-Mandla (42km). However, the Nagpur-Chhindwara section (148km) will only close from December 1 and not November 1 as declared earlier by the railways.

There are no plans at present to convert the Nagpur-Nagbhid section on which trains will continue to operate as usual. SECR’s senior divisional commercial manager (SrDCM) Tanmay Mukhopadhyay said, “It was necessary to close down the sections to start physical work (of gauge conversion).” Mandla MP Faggan Singh Kulaste in the presence of SECR general manager Satyendra Kumar on Sunday laid the stone for broad gauge line between Nainpur and Jabalpur.

The SECR GM said after commissioning of broad gauge, the running time between Nagpur-Chhindwara, Chhindwara-Nainpur and Nainpur-Jabalpur will be reduce to maximum 2.30 hours and between Nainpur-Balaghat to 1.30 hrs. Besides, an alternative route between Amla to Nagpur will be available on Nagpur-Itarsi trunk route.

According to SECR, the gauge conversion project for Gondia-Jabalpur section was included in 1996-97 budget with an estimated cost of Rs386 crore. Today the cost has escalated to Rs1,713.73 crore. Till August 2015, Rs792.85 crore have already been spent on it.

Mukhopadhyay said SECR has set a target of December 2016 to complete the 110km project and December 2017 for Balaghat-Nainpur. However, sources working on the project said looking at the pace of work it seems difficult to achieve. The 42-km section between Gondia and Balaghat took over a decade to complete. “It will be impossible to complete the present project by 2017,” railway officials themselves admit.

According to sources, the section between Balaghat and Nainpur is part of the Kanha-Pench corridor and the railways require diversion of 75 hectare reserve forest for which clearance is yet to come. The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, has submitted a report suggesting underpasses of 30 metres at vulnerable sections.

Railways revises Policy of Ticket Booking agency (SBTAs)

Nagpur: In view of the lacklustre response, the Railway Board has revised the policy to engage station ticket booking agents (STBAs) to issue unreserved tickets at ‘E’ category stations.

Non-suburban stations with less than 1 crore earnings annually fall under the ‘E’ category. These stations are small and are also known as non-block or flag stations. The basic aim of the policy is to facilitate station managers (SMs) and assistant station managers (ASMs) to concentrate better on train operations. Otherwise, apart from their basic job, the SMs also had to issue tickets to passengers.

On September 3, the Railway Board announced a new policy for STBAs. The policy was first announced on October 24, 2013, and had been extended from time to time. Nagpur Central Railway PRO PD Patil did not respond to calls. However, a senior commercial department official admitted that owing to stringent conditions put by the railways there were no takers for the policy.

“Many ‘E’ category stations are in remote areas where passengers travel without tickets. Due to low ticket sale and commission, agents are not coming forward for the job. Of the around 100 stations in Nagpur Central Railway, 20-25 may be under ‘E’ category,” the official said.

Nagpur South East Central Railway (SECR) Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Tanmay Mukhopadhyay said, “The policy has been revised. There are 71 ‘E’ category stations in our division. Of the 42 recommended by the committee, STBS have been appointed at 35 stations.”

Under the new policy, initially the STBA shall be engaged for a period of three years. Till the policy is in place, a six-month extension will be granted to existing agents till the new agreement. Each side will be free to terminate the contract without assigning reasons by giving a notice of 10 days.

The STBA will be allowed to sell all types of non-concessional unreserved tickets, including platform and season tickets. However, there is hardly any sale of platform tickets at ‘E’ category stations.

The Railway Board has directed all divisions to float tenders at the earliest for engagement of STBAs as per the new scheme.

Though railways promise to bear the cost of hardware and software, including maintenance, electricity and hiring, practically it doesn’t happen, say sources.

Selection of STBAs

* A committee of junior administrative grade (JAG) from commercial, accounts and operating department will assess number of counters at the station

* Candidate who opts for least commission (4%) on monthly sales turnover shall be engaged as STBA

* A refundable security deposit of 5,000 and bank guarantee of 20,000 shall be deposited by the STBA

Germany clears Rs.3,500 Crore loan for Nagpur Metro Rail
Nagpur (NGP): The Nagpur metro rail has achieved a major landmark with German government-owned development bank KfW sanctioning a 500 million Euro (over Rs.3,500 crore) loan. Union finance minister Arun Jaitley has cleared it and Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) is expected to get a letter from his ministry in this regard, next week.
NMRCL requires another 130 million Euro (about Rs.900 crore) loan. Agence Francais de Developpement (AFD), a French government agency, has agreed to provide this amount. The deal for this loan is likely to be finalized this month.
Brijesh Dixit, managing director of NMRCL, told that the rate of interest of the German loan would be between 1.6% and 1.7%. “The exact rate of interest will be determined by the average of European Interbank Offered Rate (Euribor) in last six months from the date of signing the loan agreement. The rate is Euribor plus a fixed component of 0.3%,” he said.
The rate of interest provided by AFD will be determined by a similar formula. Only the fixed component may be slightly different. The rate of interest may seem to be very low but depreciation of the rupee effectively increases it sharply. If the depreciation in last ten years is taken then it will go up to 8%.
The cost of the project, if it is completed by 2018, is Rs.8,680 crore. The loan component is 50%, which comes to Rs.4,340 crore. The remaining amount is to be provided by central government, state government, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT).
Dixit further said that work was progressing on the construction front fast. “NMRCL has got the possession of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) land and has started survey on it. The police department had told NMRCL that shooting practice was scheduled from September 5 to 12. We are therefore not doing survey of the shooting range. It will be from after September 13. The practice does not otherwise interfere with out work as it will be held from 7 am to 12 noon,” he said.
NMRCL has set up a prefabrication unit in Mihan on the land meant for the car depot. The boundary wall of the car depot and the 5 km at grade section will be prefabricated here and then fitted between the columns being erected along the corridor. The agency is looking for a 5 hectare land close to the city for prefabricating the elevated track.

Government announces 20% hike in honorarium for GKK workers

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Northeast & MoS PMO, DoPT, Dr. Jitendra Singh disclosed here today, that the government has ordered a significant 20% hike in the honorarium being paid to workers of Grih Kalyan Kendra (GKK), a welfare society working under the aegis of Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) for the welfare of needy central government employees particularly those belonging to lower income groups. This was announced during a meeting with a group of GKK female workers who called on him and presented a memorandum citing their long pending grievances regarding enhancement of honorarium and extension of service tenure.

The GKK representatives said that currently the organization is running nearly 30 centres in Delhi and 14 outside Delhi in cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Nagpur, Kolkata, etc., but neither the recognition received by the workers is equivalent to their performance or educational qualifications nor are they getting any incentives by way of enhancement of salary or service tenure. They complained that a number of women employees working for Grih Kalyan Kendra are having post-graduation or higher qualification but are grossly under-paid. Similarly, they complained, they are engaged temporarily for a fixed term and therefore, by the time the term of service is over, many of them become over-age to apply for a government job.

The memorandum pleaded that those of the workers who have crossed the maximum upper age limit prescribed in recruitment rules should be adjusted against the available vacancies in relaxation of the upper age limit. They also complained that many of the lady-teachers are functioning as day-care teachers or creche-care workers but the emoluments received by them are not even a fraction of what their counterparts receive in other sectors.

In these days of high cost of living, the Grih Kalyan Kendra representatives said that they were not only hand-to-mouth but found it unaffordable to sustain the livelihood and education of their children.
