Soon, Mumbai Division will be installing Flap gates for Long Distance Passengers at CSMT

Central Railway Mumbai Division will be installing flap-based gates for automatic entry into the station at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus ( non-suburban passenger entry) by using QR code tickets.  These flap based gates have QR code scanner and thermal scanning feature. Passengers will be required to place the QR code o­n the QR code scanner at entry gate for validation of the ticket details.  Access will be permitted o­nly after validation of both ticket details and temperature screening.

Presently, a QR code is generated for tickets booked through IRCTC website or PRS counters. This QR code carries all details o­n the ticket and can be accessed by passengers from the ticket generated in IRCTC App, from the PDF of the ticket or by clicking the URL in the SMS received upon booking the ticket.

This initiative will facilitate safe travel during COVID19, promote social distancing between passengers and railway staff, help in detecting unauthorised access to station premises and rationalise human resource.

Introducing QR-Code Based Ticketing Through Mobile Phones

QR-CODE BASED MOBILE TICKETING FACILITY TO START ON AIRPORT LINE FROM THIS SUNDAY
The Delhi Metro will be introducing QR code based ticketing facility for travel on Airport Express Line from Sunday i.e, 16th September 2018. With the introduction of this facility, commuter’s using Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line will be able to use the QR Code generated on their smart phones instead of smart cards or tokens to travel.
This system of QR code based ticketing through smart phones will enable passengers to purchase tickets using ‘Ridlr App’ without physically coming to the Metro station. The process to generate QR Code is as given below: -
Download the Ridlr application from playstore (available on both android & IOS platforms) and register into the App with your valid credentials including mobile no. and email- id.
Proceed to buy a QR ticket by selecting the origin station and destination station.
Select no. of passengers (Maximum 6 at a time). App will display the fare for the selected journey.
Pay the fare using internet banking/credit/debit card. User will receive a notification.
App will display the QR code for the journey. User can tap the QR enabled AFC entry gates of the Metro stations on Airport Line. The AFC gate will open and user can commence journey
At the exit, user needs to tap the QR Code again at the exit AFC gate. The gates will open and the journey will conclude.All six Metro stations of Airport Express Line have been provided with a set of two AFC gates each for entry and exit through QR enabled system

RAILWAY MINISTER SHRI SURESH PRABHU LAUNCHES IT-BASED PILOT INITIATIVE OF BAR-CODING OF UNRESERVED TICKET THROUGH THERMAL PRINTER AT NEW DELHI, DELHI JN. AND H. NIZAMUDDIN RAILWAY STATIONS ON NORTHERN RAILWAY TODAY


TICKET CHECKING STAFF CAN SCAN ENCRYPTED QR CODE AND AFTER DECRYPTION OF DATA, VALIDATE THE INFORMATION PRINTED o­n THE TICKET TO PREVENT ANY FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY

Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu today launched bar-coding of unreserved ticket through thermal printer at nominated counters at New Delhi, Delhi Jn. and H. Nizamuddin stations, a pilot technology-based initiative of the Railways to thwart issue and refund of forged unreserved tickets. Alongside, he also inaugurated a Rail Auto Hub in Walajabad, Southern Railway.

The programs were inaugurated by Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu  through video-conferencing at a ceremony held at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi.Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, Shri A.K.Mital Chairman, Railway Board and senior Railway officials were also present o­n the occasion at Rail Bhawan.  Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha was the distinguished guest at the ceremonial commencement of the above facilities at New Delhi Railway station(Ajmeri Gate Side).   Senior Railway Officers present at New Delhi Railway station  include Shri A.K.Puthia, General Manager, Northern Railway and Shri Arun Arora, Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Delhi.

In tandem with Mission 'Operation Five Minutes' in the issue of rail tickets to passengers in Rail Budget speech of 2015-16, the Railway has been undertaking a slew of initiatives to facilitate hassle-free and convenient purchase of rail tickets through Mobile based ticketing of Unreserved Tickets, Monthly Season Tickets and Platform Tickets. Another step towards achieving this commitment is launching of a pilot project today for printing of bar-code o­n unreserved ticket through thermal printer which not enhances speed of ticket issue but more importantly aims to check frauds.

Printing of encrypted QR code o­n Unreserved Tickets is being implemented at New Delhi, Delhi Jn. and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations as a pilot project. The bar code being printed is QR (Quick Response) code by use of a thermal printer. This will save approx. 3 seconds in the printing cycle of unreserved ticket. Presently features like UTS Number, Stock Number, Ticket Fare, Source Station, Destination Station, Number of Adults, Number of Children, Train Type, Class Code & Date of Journey are printed in the form of encrypted QR code. To check the frauds, Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has developed solution to print encrypted QR code o­n unreserved tickets through thermal printers. Whenever Ticket Checking Staff (TTEs/TCs) checks ticket, he can scan encrypted QR code and after decryption of data, he can validate the information printed o­n the ticket to prevent any fraudulent activity. In this technology, printing will be done through thermal printer o­n thermal stationery o­nly. Therefore, fraud by taking out carbon copy of ticket cannot be done. Low value- High value fraud and erasing of data & printing of other information o­n ticket will be detected by scanning QR.

Western Railway to woo youth to new Ticketing App

Mumbai: In a move to reduce the long ticketing queues at suburban railway stations, Western Railway is planning to reach out to college students to popularize its new paperless mobile ticketing app— UTS, among youth.

It has also come out with a Quick Response (QR) Code through which the application can be easily downloaded on smartphones. The QR Code will be published in WR advertisements. Commuters can now scan the code and download the app, which is also available on the play store.

The Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) on mobile app was launched by railway minister Suresh Prabhu on July 8 as part of the Digital India initiative. Around 22,000 users have downloaded the app.
