 Successful trainees of the first batch under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana (RKVY) get self-employment toolkits and certificates

Indian Railways’ Production Unit, Banaras Locomotive Works organized a function for distribution of self-employment toolkits and certificates for successful trainees under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana (RKVY) on 13.10.2021. This marks the culmination of the 100-hour training program organized by BLW for training of the first batch, in Technical Trades viz. Electrician, Fitter, Machinist, and Welder, under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana (RKVY). Total 54 trainees received toolkits and certificates on 13.10.2021. Trainees have expressed lot of satisfaction of completion training. They have found training to be useful, complementing their existing knowledge and in enhancing their self-confidence.

RKVY program was launched on 17.09.2021 by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology. RKVY program empowers local youth by way of providing entry level training in Industry relevant skills through Railway Training Institutes. This program seeks to take forward the vision of the PM to give confidence to the youth of this country, as a part of 75 years of Azadi Ka Mahotsav. The RKVY program is under aegis of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikasa Yojana (PMKVY) – a scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to achieve vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. Total 50,000 Youths will be trained over period of three years in 75 Railway Training Institutes, spread all across India.

Banaras Locomotive Works has been entrusted as nodal agency for implementation of RKVY program. Course content and Assessment procedure for Training has been developed by Banaras Locomotive Works.

Trainees for the RKVY program are selected through open advertisement and transparent short-listing mechanism. Trainees have undergone 100 hours of practical and theoretical training. Subsequent to training, all trainees have undergone a standardized assessment and successful trainees are awarded certificate.

Banaras Locomotive Works has taken a unique initiative to provide toolkits relevant to Trainees’ trade to all successful trainees. This toolkit will help trainees to enhance their skills and self-confidence. This toolkit will also help trainees to utilize their learnings, capacity for self-employment as well as employability in various industries. These Toolkits have been dated by Industry partner under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

TIMINGS FOR REFUND OF CANCELLED RAILWAY TICKETS
Reservation of train tickets at some Railway Reservation counters for select trains has commenced from 22.05.2020. Refund of Reservation tickets for trains which were cancelled during national lockdown has also commenced with effect from 25.05.2020.
It is seen that there is intermingling of passengers waiting for reservation with those seeking refunds at reservation counters resulting in crowd.
In order to ensure maintenance of social distancing in queue the refund of cancelled tickets will be entertained from 12.00 hrs 18.00 hrs o­n all working days and 11.00 hrs to 14.0 hrs o­n Sundays and public holidays, at the following Railway Reservation Counters of Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway.:

2.Bengaluru Cantonment
3.Yesvantpur 
4.Yelahanka,
5.Krishnarajapuram
6.Kengeri

 Some more Passenger reservations counters are going to be opened for reservation and refunds shortly. METRO RAILWAY CONDUCTS CORONAVIRUS AWARENESS CAMPS
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Metro Railway has taken several steps to make its staff as well as commuters aware about this deadly virus. As part of such initiative, a door to door awareness campaign o­n coronavirus infection was conducted at Tollygunge Staff Colony A-Block o­n 11.03.2020.  Medical officers of Metro Railway interacted with staff and their family members and also counseled them about what needs to be done to prevent spreading of this infection.
Earlier, staff of Noapara carshed as well as Netaji, Kavi Nazrul and Masterda Surya Sen stations have also been counseled about this deadly disease. During such awareness campaigns Metro staff are advised to remain alert.
It is to be noted that at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital, a Fever Clinic and an Isolation Ward have been opened to tackle any emergency.  o­ne doctor and other medical staff have also been posted there.  Control Numbers are-

METRO STAFF HELP AN AILING LADY COMMUTER TRAVELLING WITH A SIX MONTH OLD CHILD
Kolkata, 11th July, 2019:
           On 09.07.2019 at around 18:22 hrs, a lady commuter suddenly started feeling unwell in a Dum Dum-bound Metro. She was about to de-board at Gitanjali station. Immediately after receiving the message from the Motorman, the Central Control alerted the Station Superintendent of Gitanjali station.
          The Station Superintendent along with other staff immediately rushed to the UP platform with a wheelchair to help her. The lady, who had a six month old baby with her was assisted by the staff  to de-board from the train and she was taken to the Station Master’s office in a wheelchair.
          The station staff provided all assistance to stabilize her. After sometime, when she felt a little better, she was sent to Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital of Metro Railway accompanied by a lady Metro Rail Police staff, RPF staff and station staff. She became stable after being given preliminary treatment and thereafter she was released from the hospital.

TRIAL RUN OF RO-RO FROM PEN TO BOISAR VIA VASAI

TO EXPLORE POSSIBILITIES AS WELL AS TO MAXIMISE FREIGHT EARNINGS

A trial run of RO-RO (Roll-on-Roll-off) was organised on 5th January 2017 from PEN to Boisar via Vasai Road station. The run was conducted to examine the feasibility as well as to explore the possibilities of maximising freight earnings. Ro-Ro will not only add to earnings but also take care of environment & decongest road traffic. The trial run was attended by Western Railway officers from various departments along with their supervisory staff. The train left Pen station at 11.10 hrs and ran via Vasai Road station to reach Boisar at 17.10 hrs. The trial run was conducted smoothlywhereas other operational feasibilities such as loading/unloading and other infrastructural requirements are being looked into.

EASTERN RAILWAY TO ENSURE SAFETY, SECURITY & PUNCTUALITY FOR ALL PUJA SPECIALS

Kolkata, October 13, 2015:

In a high level meeting held at Eastern Railway Headquarters at Fairlie Place this morning, it has been decided to run all the Puja Specials like regular Mail/Express trains.

Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway while addressing the Principal Heads of the Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of all four divisions through video conferencing, has instructed to run all the 45 pairs of Puja Specials at par with the services of regular Mail/Express trains.

Special medical emergency arrangements should be ensured at all important stations enroute. “May I Help You” booths should be set up at the starting stations and other important stations enroute.

Security arrangements exclusively for escorting the trains should be made by the Divisions and necessary security should be ensured within the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway. General Manager said that RPF, GRP and other security personnel should be visible to the passengers with proper uniform and move around the area, particularly at the passenger crowd area to create confidence in the minds of the passengers. Security staff should come forward to help passengers in case of any need.

GM also instructed for proper arrangement of additional lighting, drinking water and sanitation. Cleaning staff should be seen with proper dress for easy identification in case of need by the passengers. Special cleanliness drives should be undertaken from 15th October o­nwards to ensure cleanliness in trains, platforms and station premises. He instructed Divisions for proper planning in utilization of man power during the puja holidays as a number of staff go o­n leave during the period. He advised for meticulous planning/arrangements keeping in view the absence of staff. If necessary, roaster duty may be introduced during holidays period.           

All Puja special trains should be given platforms o­n priority basis instead of keeping the Mail/Express and puja specials waiting at the outer for a long time. All avoidable failures should analyze and necessary remedial measures be taken to reduce any failure during the rush period. However, in case of unavoidable circumstances disaster management team with all assistance, medical team should be kept in readiness to face any such situations. Platform use should be done meticulously and with proper care should be taken to avoid any harassment to passengers in case of change of platforms. The Public Address System should be checked properly and passengers should be informed repeatedly in regular intervals.

General Manager also stressed for thorough checking and maintenance of coaches etc. by the Divisions as well as Carriage & Wagon Department to ensure smooth operations of train services during the rush period. All the head of the departments were advised to conduct inspection during the period. Shri Gupta also instructed for conducting massive ticket checking drives to check not o­nly ticketless travelling but also anti-socials entering to railway premises.

 Berth availability position should be informed through social media like Facebook, Twitter and also by issuing advertisements in the print media. Vigilance & RPF special team will have strict vigil over touts & other anti-socials movements in Railway premises.

Passengers are requested to co-operate with the Railway administration by allowing to check their luggage when asked by RPF, GRP and other security officials.

Shri Gupta also advised the passengers for maximum use of CoTVM and coin vending machines installed at Howrah and Sealdah stations and other places for easy travelling in the trains.
