FESTIVAL SPECIAL TRAINS BETWEEN DANAPUR AND YESVANTPUR VIA Dr. MGR CHENNAI CENTRAL

East Central Railway has notified fully reserved Bi-Weekly superfast festival special trains between Danapur – Yesvantpur - Danapur will run via Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Dr. MGR Chennai Central. Special Trains as detailed below.

Train No.03209 / 03210 Danapur – Yesvantpur – Danapur Bi-Weekly Superfast Festival Special Trains via Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Dr. MGR Chennai Central. 

With a composition of One 2-Tier AC Coach, Six 3-tier AC Coaches, Ten Sleeper Class Coaches, Two General Second Class Coaches, and Two Luggage Cum Brake vans, Train No.03209 Danapur – Yesvantpur Bi-Weekly superfast festival Special will leave Danapur o­n Mondays and Saturdays at 18.10 hrs. on 26th, 31st October, 02nd, 07th, 09th, 14th, 16th, 21st,  23rd and 28th November, 2020 (10 services) and reach Yesvantpur o­n Wednesdays and Mondays at 18.30 hrs. 

In the Return Direction, Train No.03210 Yesvantpur – Danapur Bi-Weekly superfast festival Special Will leave Yesvantpur at 07.10 hrs. o­n Thursdays and Tuesdays on 29th October, 03rd, 05th, 10th, 12th, 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th November and 01st December, 2020 (10 services) to reach Danapur at 08.00 hrs. o­n Saturdays and Thursdays. 

Stoppages: Ara, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya, Prayagraj Chheoki, Manikpur, Satna, Jabalpur, Itarsi, Nagpur, Balharshah, Warangal, Vijayawada Jn, Dr. MGR Chennai Central, Katpadi, Jolarpettai and Krishnarajapuram.

Diversion Of Trains -East Central Railway  

Patna: The railways has diverted at least 16 pairs of passenger trains either originating from or passing through East Central Railway (ECR) stations due to track work on the Adhinpur-Musafikhana-Sheonagar section of Lucknow division from September 25 to 29.
  • According to ECR's chief public relations officer Arvind Rajak, Rajgir-New Delhi Shramjeevi Express (12391) will run via Sultanpur-Faizabad-Lucknow route while Kota-Patna Express (13240) will run via Lucknow-Faizabad-Varanasi route during the period. The Haridwar- Howrah Kumbh Mela Express (12370) train will run via Lucknow-Pratapgarh-Varanasi route.
  • The Delhi-Malda Town Farakka Express (13414) train will pass through Lucknow-Faizabad-Sultanpur route while Chandigarh-Pataliputra Express (13256) will run via Lucknow-Pratapgarh-Varanasi route. The Howrah-Amritsar Express (13049) train will run via Sultanpur-Faizabad-Lucknow route during the period, Rajak said, adding Jammu Tavi-Howrah Himgiri Express (12332) and Ambala-Barauni Express (14524) will run via Lucknow-Pratapgarh-Varanasi route.
  • The Indore-Rajendra Nagar Express (19313) train will pass through Lucknow-Faizabad-Varanasi route and the Dehradun-Howrah Upasana Express (12328) train via Lucknow-Pratapgarh-Varanasi route, according to Arvind Rajak.

GE to spend Rs.750 Crore to set up Diesel Loco Manufacturing Plant at Marhaura in Saran
General Electric will spend Rs 750 crore to set up the diesel locomotive manufacturing plant at Marhaura in Saran – around 75km northwest of Patna – which will be ready by July 2018, a top official at the US conglomerate told.
During his maiden Patna visit last month, US ambassador Richard Rahul Verma had announced that GE will be manufacturing from the Saran plant 900 of the total 1,000 diesel locomotives it will make for Indian Railways while the rest will be manufactured at the company’s existing facility in the US.
The company will deliver the first locomotive to the railways by January 2018, said Nalin Jain, president and CEO, rail, mining, defence and aerospace, GE.
“The construction of the Marhaura plant will get under way within two months and the unit would be ready for manufacturing locomotives by July 2018,” Jain told on the sidelines of the one-day Bihar Entrepreneurship Summit. “A sum of Rs 750 crore would be spent in constructing the plant.”
The Saran unit is being set up in the public-private-partnership mode. The railways will provide land, electricity and basic infrastructure support; GE will bear the expense of setting up the unit and other recurring costs.
“We (GE) have not got the physical possession of the land as yet but we expect it soon,” said Jain. “The land acquisition process has been completed. The plant will help Bihar in many ways. Apart from a big investment, the plant will generate a lot of local employment.”
Industries department principal secretary S. Sidhartha said the state government was in talks with GE to maximise the Marhaura unit’s impact.
“With the locomotive manufacturing unit coming up at Marhaura, the local industries here too can connect and set up ancillary units for the plant and grow,” Sidhartha said. “It can be a wonderful opportunity for the state’s industrialisation.”
Nalin said the state government proposal was being considered, “but right now one cannot comment on it”.
A senior official of the East Central Railway (ECR) had told in February that 226.9 acres of land had been acquired for the Marhaura factory. Another senior ECR official said: “GE will be taking possession of the land acquired by the railways this week in all probability.”
The diesel locomotive factory was first conceptualised when Lalu Prasad was the railway minister in the first UPA government. He laid the foundation stone for the factory in October 2007, but the project remained in limbo for almost eight years. The NDA government revived the project in January 2015, giving cabinet approval for the project’s execution via public-private-partnership.
In November last year, the railway ministry signed an agreement with GE for the Marhaura plant. The plant entails a total cost component of Rs 2,052 crore.
“Rs 750 crore is being spent just on the construction of the manufacturing plant,” said the ECR official. “The rest of the amount will be mainly spent on the manufacturing of the locomotives besides development of the basic infrastructure.”

NEW TIME TABLE FOR EASTERN ZONE PUBLISHED

The new Time Table for Eastern Railway, East Central Railway and Northeast Frontier Railway has been published today. It will be effective from 1st October, 2015.

Addressing a crowded press and media people, Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway released the combined Mail/Express Time Table for Eastern Zone (Eastern Railway, East Central Railway and Northeast Frontier Railway) and also released combined Time Table for Suburban services of Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway and Metro Railway Services.

Shri Gupta said that the preparation of this time table is a year-long exercise, during which a number of suggestions received from various passenger associations, people representatives, rail users and civil bodies. All the suggestions, proposals have been duly examined at Divisional level and Headquarters level, considering all the ground realities and possibilities. A number of changes have been made to suit to rail users and the same suggestions are made to the Railway Board for a decision at apex level. The time table conferences are held among the Zonal Railways at Railway Board level before final shape is given. This time table will now come into force from 1stOctober, 2015.

The primary objective of publication of this Time Table is to improve punctuality in passenger services, particularly, Mail/Express and also give due importance to suburban services by running the trains o­n time. Doubling of sections, induction of additional coaches and improvement of signalling system helps in running the trains in a reduced time and as per the Time Table. Keeping in view the passengers’ demand, some services have been extended and some new services also introduced. A few trains have been augmented with more coaches in a permanent measure and some as temporary measure.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE NEW TIME TABLE :

1.Change of Terminal :

Terminal Station of 12249/12250 New Delhi-Howrah Yuba Exp. and 12323/12324 New Delhi-Howrah Exp. hasbeen changed from New Delhi to Anand Vihar Terminus. 12351/12352 Howrah-Danapur Exp. will now terminate at Rajendranagar instead of Danapur. This has been done to de-congest New Delhi and Danapur and to improve punctuality of these trains. The new Satellite Terminals have been well equipped with passenger amenities.

2.En route stoppage of Duranto Exp. :

Sealdah-New Delhi (12259/12260), Howrah-New Delhi (12273/1274) and Sealdah-Puri Duranto Exp. (22201/22202) trains are running end to end at present without commercial stoppage in between. New stoppages have been introduced at Dhanbad,Kanpur Central and at Kharagpur for benefit of passengers and better utilization of capacity.

3.Reduction in running time of trains – Mail/Exp., Passenger and Locals :

With the completion of doubling between Bandel and Katwa, Krishnanagar upto Plassey, Lalgola to Jiaganj, in Suburban sections of Sealdah Division and Tinpahar to Pirpainthi in two stretches in Malda Division,8 Mail/Express trains and 17 Passenger trains have been speeded up saving time between 5 to 45 mts. In Sealdah Division, 20 EMU locals between Sealdah and Diamond Harbour, 7 locals between Sealdah and Laxmikantapur have been speeded up to save 5 to 8 mts. In Bandel – Katwa section also 28 local trains have been speeded up by5 to 45 mts.

4.Introduction of new trains :

Two DEMU Passenger trains have been introduced between Azimganj and Nimtita 5 days a week. Three pairs of local trains – Tarakeswer-Arambagh, Bandel-Katwa and Ranaghat-Gede have been newly introduced o­n passenger demand utilizing lie over of EMU rakes. Four EMU services have been introduced between Sonarpur – Mathurapur Road, Mathurapur Road – Baruipur, Baruipur – Diamond Harbour and Diamond Harbour- Sonarpur.Similarly, 2 local trains presently running as special services between Ranaghat-Bongaon and Sealdah-Sonarpur have been introduced o­n a regular measure.Extension of 2 pairs of Howrah-Singur and Howrah-Haripal upto Tarakeswar has also been made permanent.

5.Extension of trains :

Katwa- Jangipur Road– DEMU (73035/73036) service has been extended upto Nimtita. o­ne Passenger train running from Ranaghat to Cossimbazar (63131/63132) has been extended to Lalgola. o­ne pair Rampurhat-Pinargoria Passenger train has been extended to Dumka. Two EMU services–Sealdah-Basirhat and Sealdah-Kalyani have been extended to Hasnabad and Kalyani Simantarespectively. o­ne EMU service from Naihatito Majerhat via Circular has been extended to Ballygunj.

6.Increase in Frequency :

Frequency of Sealdah-LalgolaPassenger (53183/53184) starting from Sealdah at 10.15 hrs. has been increased from 6 days a week to daily.

7.Change in terminal of EMU service :

One local service originating from Sealdah at 17.38 hrs. to Barrackpore has been shifted to Bidhannagar Road. To facilitate passengers at Sealdah,new stoppages has been given at Sodepur and Barrckpore for the service from Sealdah to Shantipur 31531 starting from Sealdah at 17.52 hrs.

PUJA SPECIAL TRAINS

Eastern Railway has made elaborate arrangements to run 45 pairs of Puja Special Trains thereby creating additional capacity of 2,14,296 berths which will run during October & November, 2015. These Puja Special Trains will be run for various destinations viz. Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri, Kamakhya, Puri, Nautanwa, Raxaul, Patna, Haridwar, Anand Vihar (T), Lokmanya Tilak (T) etc.

Bagaha (BUG): A tiger was found dead near Bagaha-Chitauni railway tracks of East Central Railway on Thursday morning. Forest officials claimed that the tiger was killed after being hit by a train under Madanpur range of division-II of Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR), around 290km northwest of Patna.

“We were informed about the death of the adult tiger in Madanpur range this morning. The cause behind the death of the tiger is being investigated. We would hold talks with the railway officials based on the findings of the investigation,” said S.S.Chaudhary, the additional principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife).

The last case of animal death after being hit by a train in VTR was reported on March 19, 2013, when a female rhino was killed after being hit by a goods train between Valmikinagar Road and Paniahwa railway stations of Bagaha-Chitauni section.

As far as controlling the speed of trains passing through the stretch is concerned, officials said several letters had been written to the railways requesting to put the speed limit at 50kmph during daytime and 30kmph during the night. But nothing has been done so far.

Reacting to the incident, Samir Kumar Sinha, the manager of Wildlife Trust of India, who has been working in VTR for over a decade, said: “This is a major incident of animal death by a running train. Death of other animals like deer or rhinos has been reported from VTR after every few years but this is the first time in the recent past that a tiger has been killed by a train. One of the reasons behind such incidents is the speed of the trains. Though the speed limit for trains inside VTR was imposed after the incident of death of female rhinos in 2013, it seems that the drivers are not strictly following the rules. Besides, the drivers are also required to honk frequently when the train is running inside the tiger reserve in the night.”?

Officials in East Central Railway denied any information about the incident.

Accordingly,  Tr. No.12791 Secunderabad-Danapur Express will arrive / depart Ara Station at 17:32/17:34 hrs, with effect from 10th September, 2015. 

In the return direction, Train No.12792 Danapur – Secunderabad Express will arrive / depart Ara Station at 12:57/12:59 hrs with effect from 10th September, 2015.


Train No.15227/15228 Yesvantpur-Muzaffarpur-Yesvantpur Express is provided with an additional stoppage at Begusarai Station in Sonpur Division, East Central Railway.

Accordingly, Tr.No. 15227 Yesvantpur-Muzaffarpur Express will arrive / depart Begusarai Station at 00:38/00:40 hrs. with effect from 18th September, 2015.

 In the return direction, Tr. No.15228 Muzaffarpur-Yesvantpur Express will arrive / depart Begusarai at 09:52/09:54 hrs with effect from 14th September, 2015.

New Delhi: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is set to refurbish at least 2,000 retiring rooms at 600 railway stations across the country. It has invited Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from reputed service providers for maintenance and expansion of retiring rooms and provision of upgraded services to rail passengers. The East Central Railway (ECR) alone has 50 plus retiring rooms.

IRCTC chairman cum managing director A K Manocha said the corporation would engage renowned service providers to invest in infrastructure of retiring room complexes. “Several facilities, including television, telephone, air-conditioner, dormitory intercom, alarm, fire fighting and public address systems will be introduced in guestrooms. The IRCTC also intends to install RO water purifier system and Wi-Fi connectivity on all retiring room premises,” he added.

At present, passengers enjoy facilities like AC and non-AC rooms and dormitories with attached and common bathrooms, lockers, food and beverage services in railway guest rooms. However, IRCTC is committed to providing upgraded retiring room complexes on the pattern of guesthouses with more personalized services.

Retiring rooms would function round the clock, said IRCTC MD, adding their reservation could be made online at www.irctc.co.in or at railway station counters. Launched in 1999, IRCTC, a ‘mini Ratna’ of Indian Railways, is dealing with catering, tourism, Rail Neer (packaged drinking water), tourism and online rail and air ticketing operations.

‘Officials to interact with passengers’

Established in 2002, the Hajipur-headquartered East Central Railway (ECR) has achieved many a milestone. Railway projects worth about Rs 45,000 crore have been allocated to it. Kumod Verma caught up with ECR GM A K Mittal to know about the measures being initiated to better passenger amenities in the zone. Excerpts: 

ECR is observing passenger and customer facilitation fortnight from May 26 to June 9. What's the purpose? 

The idea is to know the needs of passengers. The railways will get an opportunity during the facilitation drive to understand the issues facing the passengers. 

Will you also travel by trains to interact with passengers and get a first-hand feel of the issues? 

Yes. The DRMs of all the ECR's five divisions and other senior officials would also meet passengers. Efforts will be made to solve their problems the same day. We are setting up booths at major stations to address their grievances on the spot. 

Punctuality, cleanliness, safety and supply of quality meals are the major concerns. What's the mechanism to maintain them? 

The zone has taken measures to improve punctuality of trains. Sectional speed of trains has been upped to 130 kmph. Our centralized control room is keeping a tab on the movement of each passenger train in the zone. We have outsourced contracts for maintaining cleanliness round the clock at all A1 and A class stations in the zone. All A1 and A stations having an annual earning of Rs 60 crore and Rs 8 crore respectively have been covered under this cleanliness drive. Safety measures have been beefed up at all unmanned level crossings. We are making surprise checks on running trains. 

Cost escalation has hit hard a few railway projects in Bihar. Is anything being done to expedite the completion of pending railway projects in the state? 

Constrains notwithstanding, the railways has decided to complete the pending railway projects in a phased manner. True, delay in land acquisitions has halted the pace of development work but that's a temporary phenomenon. The state government is extending cooperation to railways in completing the pending projects. The railways is hopeful of throwing open its portion of work on the Digha and Munger bridges by June. Projects related to new lines, doubling of tracks, gauge conversion and railway electrification work will also be completed soon. 

The issue of transfer of R Block-Digha Ghat railway line to the Bihar government for building an expressway has been hanging fire... 

The railways has agreed in principle to hand over the stretch to the state government as per railways norms. The ECR has already sent a proposal to this effect to the Railway Board for its approval. State transport minster Rajiv Ranjan Singh has also held a discussion with railway minster Suresh Prabhu in this connection. The railways has asked for land of equivalent worth in return. 

Traffic movement has reached a saturation point on the Mokama-Patna-Mughalsarai section, causing frequent detention of trains at outer signals near Patna Junction. Is there any proposal to build a third line on this busy section? 

A third line has been sanctioned between Dhanbad-Sonegarh, a distance of about 277km, in the current rail budget. However, a proposal for a third line between Mokama and Patna Junction is being prepared. 

What, according to you, is the ECR's biggest achievement since its inception in 2002? 

The answer is, spectacular increase in revenue from both passenger and goods segments. It has crossed Rs 10,000 crore-mark per annum, thereby securing a berth for the ECR in the elite club of few railway zones which earn Rs 10,000 crore and more per annum.

Danapur (DNR): East Central Railway has planned to develop Danapur railway station’s southern end on the lines of the Karbigahiya end of Patna Junction to meet the rush of passengers.

As many as 18 express trains originate from the Danapur railway station, in the west of Patna, while 194 trains pass through it. One of the most important railway stations in the region after Patna Junction, 50,000-70,000 passengers use Danapur every day.

The passenger flow is expected to rise in the coming days as the railways plan to change the terminus of several trains from Rajendra Nagar to Danapur. The southern end of the station is, however, not in a good shape and needs attention.

Senior divisional commercial manager, East Central Railway (ECR), Amitabh Prabhakar told “We are working on a plan to develop the southern end of the Danapur railway station. Soon, the funds would be sanctioned for the work.”

The Karbigahiya end of Patna Junction was revamped last year. An escalator has been installed as has been a fountain and other facilities. The railways plan to develop the southern end of the Danapur railway station on the same lines. Work is expected to start in two months.

A senior ECR official said: “Both Patna Junction and Danapur railway stations are ‘A’ grade stations. A lot of work has been carried out at Patna Junction but any more work is not possible because of unavailability of land. A letter was sent to the Railway Board, stating that further development was only possible at Danapur railway station because land was available there. This is the reason that the railway’s focus has shifted towards developing the Danapur railway station. The Railway Board has given the go-ahead.”

According to the plan, ECR will construct a new platform and a reservation counter at the southern end of the station. Gradually, facilities such as escalator, water cooler, retiring room, clock room, coach indicator, and digital timetable would be added.

The development of the Danapur railway station is significant because it would directly connect with the Patliputra railway station line. The southern end opens on the Khagaul road through which passengers access the station and the revamp work would be beneficial for the travellers.

Recently, the main entrance has been developed and a parking space and foot overbridge constructed.

The secretary of Bihar Daily Passengers’ Association, Shuiab Quraishi, said: “It is very important to develop the southern end of the Danapur railway station, as the passengers face a lot of difficulties. I hope the railway working honestly on this front.”

Passenger flow at the station would also increase soon, as the railways have decided to originate several important trains, including the Jan Sadharan Express, from the Danapur railway station instead of the Rajendra Nagar terminus.

The Jan Sadharan Express would depart from Danapur from May 20, sources said.

Hajipur (HJP): East Central Railway (ECR) on Wednesday launched a facility to allow passengers to lodge FIRs “on board”, meaning on running trains.  In addition, it started a Tollfree Security Helpline Number – 182 – for passengers, ECR General Manager A.K. Mittal told reporters.

Additional Director-General (Railways) K.S.Dwivedi said a booklet would be provided to all escort parties on different trains to enable them to lodge FIRs. “The booklet has a detailed format. Once the RPF fills it up, a copy bearing FIR number is handed over to the complainant. The RPF must deposit the second copy at the nearest railway police station. In no way can the police station refuse to accept the copy of the FIR. If the matter falls in their jurisdiction they have to start investigations right away. If, however, the matter falls outside their jurisdiction, they have to forward the same to the SP’s office, which would forward it to the police station concerned. The escort party has to submit the third and last copy of FIR to the RPF office so that a record of the same exists,” Dwivedi said.

Of 700 trains that run daily in Bihar around 250 run at night. But because forces are short-staffed, only half of the trains have an escort party. “We lack manpower. However, the situation is improving now. The old system of lodging FIRs is there on trains that run without escorts,” the officer said.

He said passengers could make use of the toll-free security number for any issue.

“There already exists a toll-free number (1512) of the GRP (government railway police), started two months ago. However, few call up the number, as it has not been advertised properly. Calls made to this number (182) would be recorded and there will also be a call back system. If a passenger calls and the line is found busy, our men will call back. People facing any kind of problem or complaint can call the number and action would be initiated. The numbers would be made available on trains so that passengers can use them in need,” the officer said.
