Central Railway will operate Mega Block o­n its suburban sections for carrying out maintenance work o­n 30.5.2021.

Matunga - Mulund Up and Dn Slow Lines From 11.00 am To 4.00 pm

Dn slow line services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai from 10.14 am to 3.36 pm will be diverted o­n Dn fast line between Matunga and Mulund stations and will halt at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli and Bhandup stations. Further will be re-diverted o­n proper slow line at Mulund station.

Up Slow line services leaving Thane from 10.27 am to 3.55 pm will be diverted o­n Up fast line between Mulund and Matunga and will halt at Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla and Sion stations. Further will be re-diverted o­n proper Up slow line at Matunga.

Kurla-Vashi Up & Dn Harbour lines from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm

Dn Harbour line services to Vashi /Belapur/Panvel leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai from 10.34 am to 3.39 pm and Up Harbour line services for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai leaving Panvel/Belapur/Vashi from 10.21 am to 3.41 pm will remain cancelled.

However, Special services will run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus - Kurla & Vashi - Panvel sections during the block period.

Harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via Main Line and Trans Harbour line from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm

These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused.

MULUND-MATUNGA UP SLOW LINE FROM 11.10 AM TO 3.40 PM
Up slow line services leaving Thane from 10.37 am to 3.31 pm will be diverted o­n Up fast line between Mulund and Matunga stations halting at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla and Sion stations and further re-diverted to Up slow line proper at Matunga station.
Up fast/semi fast services leaving Kalyan from 11.04 am to 3.06 pm will halt at Diva, Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.
Dn fast/semi fast services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from 10.16 am to 2.54 pm will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund and Diva stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule.
All Dn and Up slow services leaving/arriving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus between 11.00 am and 6.00 pm will arrive destination 10 minutes behind schedule.
KURLA – VASHI UP AND DN HABROUR LINES FROM 11.10 AM TO 3.40 PM
All Dn Harbour line services departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai to Vashi / Belapur / Panvel from 10.34 am to 3.08 pm and all Up harbour line services departing from Panvel / Belapur / Vashi towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from 10.21 am to 3.00 pm will remain cancelled.
However, special services will be run during the block period o­n Panvel-Vashi and Kurla-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus sections.
Harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via main line and Transharbour line from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm.
Due to the Jumbo Block operated by Western Railway between Mahim and Goregaon Stations o­n Up and Dn Harbour line, Down Harbour line services towards Bandra/ Andheri / Goregaon departing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from 9.56 am to 4.04 pm will remain cancelled and Up Harbour line services departing Bandra/ Andheri / Goregaon towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from 10.45 am to 4.29 pm will remain cancelled.       
Due to these blocks, suburban trains are likely to be more crowded than usual. Passengers are requested not to take any risks while travelling. They are also requested to avoid travelling o­n foot board, roof top of locals and not to board extremely over crowded trains. These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused.

MATUNGA-MULUND DN SLOW LINE FROM 11.30 AM TO 3.30 PM
Dn slow line services leaving Matunga from 11.25 am to 3.21 pm will be diverted o­n Dn fast line between Matunga and Mulund stations halting at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations and further re-diverted to Dn slow line proper at Mulund station.
Dn slow line services will not be available at Vidyavihar, Kanjur Marg and Nahur Stations. Passengers of these stations are allowed to travel via Ghatkopar, Bhandup and Mulund stations.
Up fast/semi fast services leaving Kalyan from 10.54 am to 3.06 pm will halt at Diva, Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

Shri D.K. Sharma, General Manager, Central Railway gave away Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada - cleanliness awards in 11 categories (Zonal level) on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji on 2.10.2018 at Railway Auditorium, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai.
Shri Sharma presented certificate and cash award to Kurla Car Shed which won the first prize for best maintained EMU card shed followed by Kalwa card shed and best maintained control office won by Mumbai followed by Nagpur. Mumbai-Gondia Vidarbha Express won the best maintained express train followed by Mumbai-Amravati Express.Other category awards are as under:
 Best maintained workshop – first Matunga workshop, second Track Machine Workshop, Nasik
Best maintained diesel/electric shed – first Ajni Electric Loco Shed, second Diesel Loco Shed, Kalyan
Best maintained coaching depot – first Pune, second Solapur
Best maintained divisional hospital – first Bhusaval, second Nagpur
Best maintained headquarters office – first Office of Principal Chief Operations Manager, second Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer
Best maintained Stores Depot – first Vidyavihar, second Matunga
Best maintained TTE rest room – first Nagpur, second Bhusaval

Earlier, Shri D.K. Sharma, General Manager, Central Railway commissioned the digital wall at suburban concourse, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai in presence of Shri A.K. Agarwal, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri D.K. Singh, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Shri Shailendra Kumar, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Dr. Shyam Sunder, Principal Chief Medical Director, Shri S.K. Pankaj, Senior Deputy General Manager, Smt Reena Ranjan, Principal Financial Adviserand other Principal Heads of Departments, Shri S.K. Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai and commuters.Similar digital walls were commissioned at Thane, Lonavala, Pune, Daund, Sewagram and Wardha.
Shri Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway said that Central Railway School, Kalyan and Kalva Car Shed employees had jointly painted an EMU rake with national tricolour and Mahatma Gandhi theme which is a unique initiative on Indian Railways.This local is presently running on Thane-Vashi/Panvel transharbour line section, and is the main attraction of commuters and others spreading message of Swachhta.
In addition, three diesel locomotives and one electric locomotive was painted with Gandhiji’s theme are hauling Mumbai-Hyderabad Express, Mumbai-Chennai Central Express, Dadar-Ratnagiri Passenger and Mumbai-Pune Deccan Queen on 2.10.2018. This initiative was also appreciated by one and all.
An outstanding cultural programme was presented by Kids of Railway officers’’ Club, Mazgaon and Central Railway Cultural Academy at the function followed by Mahatma Gandhi’s live painting session synchronised with instrumental song, santoor and nukkad natak.
Central Railway observed Swachhata Hi Sewa Pakhwada from 15.9.2018 to 2.10.2018 involving Station Managers and Station Directors along with Railway Colony Staff, NGOs, Charitable Institutions, Passengers and Public at large with their voluntary physical contribution towards cleanliness drive at headquarters Mumbai, Pune, Bhusaval, Nagpur and Solapur divisions.

Up fast services leaving Kalyan from 11.00 am to 4.21 pm will be diverted o­n Up slow line between Kalyan and Thane stations halting at all stations and further re-diverted o­n UP fast line between Thane and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai halting at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, Dadar and Byculla stations and will arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule.
Dn fast services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai from 10.08 am to 2.42 pm will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.
Passenger Train
Train No. 50104 Ratnagiri – Dadar passenger will be terminated at Diva station and Train No. 50103 Dadar – Ratnagiri Passenger will leave from Diva station o­n 27.08.2017. Up mail/express trains arrive Mumbai during the block period will arrive 20 – 30 minutes behind schedule.

Central Railway will operate night traffic block of 5 hours and 15 minutes o­n 27.8.2017 (midnight of Sat / Sun) for launching of foot over bridge girders over platform No. 2 & 3 at Thane station. The details are as under –

Dn slow locals will not available at Kalva, Mumbra, Kopar and Thakurli stations. Passengers of these stations are allowed to travel via Kalyan, Dombivali and Diva stations

Down fast services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai from 10.20 am to 2.42 pm will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund and Diva stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and will arrive destination 10 minutes behind schedule.

MULUND-MATUNGA UP SLOW LINE FROM 11.15 AM TO 3.15 PM

All UP slow line services leaving Thane from 10.58 am to 3.12 pm will be diverted o­n Up fast line between Mulund and Matunga stations halting at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli Ghatkopar, Kurla and Sion stations and further re-diverted to Up slow line proper at Matunga station. 

UP slow line services will not be available at Nahur, Kanjurmarg and Vidyavihar stations. Passengers of these stations are permitted to travel via Bhandup, Vikhroli and Kurla stations. 

Dn fast line services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus from 10.08 am to 2.42 pm will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule. 

UP fast line services leaving Thane from 11.22 am to 3.28 pm will halt at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli Ghatkopar and Kurla in addition to their respective scheduled halts and arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

All Dn and Up slow line services leaving/arriving Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus between 11.00 am and 5.00 pm will arrive destination 10 minutes behind schedule.

Central Railway will operate Mega Block o­n its suburban sections for carrying out maintenance work on 22.5.2016.

MAIN LINE:

MULUND-MATUNGA UP FAST LINE FROM 11.45 AM TO 3.45 PM 

All UP fast line services leaving Thane from 11.22 am to 3.28 pm will be diverted o­n Up slow line between Mulund and Parel stations halting at all stations up to Parel and further re-diverted o­n Up fast line and will arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule. 

Dn fast line services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus from 10.08 am to 2.42 pm will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule. 

All slow line services leaving/arriving Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus between 11.00 am and 5.00 pm will arrive destination 10 minutes behind schedule. 

HARBOUR LINE:

KURLA-MANKURD UP AND DN HARBOUR LINES FROM 11.10 AM TO 4.10 PM. 

Dn Harbour line services to Panvel/Belapur/Vashi leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus from 10.35 am to 3.37 pm and Up Harbour line services for Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus leaving Panvel/Belapur from 10.20 am to 3.48 pm will remain suspended.

However special local trains will run o­n Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Kurla and Mankurd - Panvel sections during the block period. 

Harbour Line passengers are permitted to travel via Trans-Harbour / Main Line from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. 

Due to these blocks, suburban trains are likely to be more crowded than usual. Passengers are requested not to take any risks while travelling. They are also requested to avoid travelling o­n foot board, roof top of locals and not to board extremely over crowded trains. Special Traffic & Power Block near Kurla o­n 19/20.12.2015

Central Railway will operate a special traffic and power block o­n all 6 lines near Kurla (Kasaiwada) o­n 19/20.12.2015 (Sat/Sun midnight) for construction of 3.66 meter wide foot over bridge in connection with DC-AC conversion.

·Up & Dn slow lines   from 0020 hrs to 0420 hrs

·Up & Dn fast lines  from 2345 hrs to 0515 hrs

·Up & Dn harbour lines from 2345 hrs to 0745 hrs

·Up & Dn goods & siding lines from 2345 hrs to 0930 hrs

There will also be two more shadow blocks for following works

·5 hours block at Vadala Road for shifting of turnout

·4 hrs 30 minutes block on Up & Dn fast lines; Up & Dn harbour lines at Kurla for shifting of foot over bridge girder spans.

Mumbai: Even as railway officials claim to be operating maximum suburban trains to ease the hardships of daily commuters in Mumbai, the number of deaths and those injured after falling from trains has gone up in the last one decade, as per an RTI query.

A whopping 25,722 passengers fell from suburban trains (travelling on Western, Central and Harbour suburban services in Mumbai Commissionerate) in last 10 years, of whom 6,989 commuters died while 18,733 survived, said RTI activist Anis Khan quoting a reply received from Government Railway Police (GRP), Mumbai. Despite the authorities’ efforts to curb deaths on tracks, the city’s railway system continues to claim lives at a constant rate. As per data with the Government Railway Police (GRP), nine people have died on the railway tracks every day this year.

In 2005, a total of 494 commuters lost their lives after falling from running trains. This figure went up subsequently in the coming years and reached up to 901 in 2013, up 82 per cent as compared to the death toll in 2005, he said. However, 2014 saw a marginal decline with 797 deaths reported after falling from suburban trains, he said.

Kalyan, Kurla, Thane, Borivli, and Vasai are the railway stations, which have recorded the most fatalities near them. These people were found dead after falling from a train, committing suicide, or having been pushed by someone.

Mr Khan said the railway administration has “completely failed” to provide safe and comfortable journey to the people. “The basic reason why people are dying like animals is that railway officers have entirely failed to comprehend the hardships of the commuters…and the basic reason behind this (inability to comprehend the problems) is that officers never travel in local trains,” he said. Most of the passengers fall or slip from the running trains when they struggle to get into a coach and fail to enter it or get dashed against a pole near the railway tracks, he said. “Until and unless officers do not feel the pinch of travelling in overcrowded local trains, such deaths are not going to stop,” Mr Khan said.

As per the statistics provided under the RTI query, apart from 6,989 passengers who died after falling from trains, 22,289 passengers succumbed while crossing the tracks (trespassing). A railway officer, on condition of anonymity, said, “This is true that number of cases of falling of passengers has gone up, but it also includes those cases when many people lost their lives while performing stunts.” “But sensing the gravity of the cases, constant announcements are made not to board or alight from running trains,” he added.

Railway activist Sameer Zaveri, who was also a railway victim once, said overcrowding is the biggest problem at hand. “People buy tickets but still have to stand on footboards. There are no safety measures for them. Moreover the High Court has asked the railways to build fences near the tracks to prevent people from entering, but the railways don’t do anything,” he said.

Around 30 per cent of victims’ bodies have to be disposed of by the cops; the families approach much later or the bodies remain unclaimed,” said Rupali Ambure, deputy commissioner of police, GRP, Central Railway. She further added, “We have been creating awareness among commuters to not cross tracks, not travel on footboards, and to take precautions while travelling. We have also written to railways to close all unauthorised entry points that bring one to railway tracks,” said Ambure. 1,679 people were injured this year on the railway tracks.

Chennai groups drum home point to stop train hits in the City

Should you happen to come upon a band playing music at a railway station, don’t look around for cameras. A film crew hasn’t turned the station into a set: it’s a live show that the Government Railway Police hopes will create the awareness needed to put the brakes on train accidents.

Officers of the GRP hit upon the idea after a study they conducted on railway tracks in city and suburbs showed that at least 35 people died in such accidents on a single stretch, between Beach and Chengalpet, in a month.

Train hits accounted for many as 2,750 deaths across the state in a year. The study also helped the GRP officers identify 20 accident prone spots, including at Korukkupet, Perambur, Avadi, Ambattur and Mambalam, where the most deaths took place.

When distribution of fliers to spread awareness did not appear to have yielded any results, the officers tied up with bands who agreed to play small shows on railway platforms to draw train users together as groups.

“The bands penned songs that include safety tips and set them to some peppy music from popular film tracks to attract the attention of train passengers,” Egmore DSP V Ponramu said. “The lyric makes it clear that it is illegal to cross railway tracks by any means.”

The bands have pulled in crowds at Mambalam, Guindy, Egmore and Chennai Central, he said, with people taking a short break to hear them despite being in a hurry. “So I would think the message is getting across,” the DSP said.

The GRP have also identified places where commuters cross tracks and erected new walls to prevent them from doing so. “We have posted two policemen at each of these locations,” a senior GRP officer said. “They will work in two shifts of eight hours each .”

The efforts of the GRP officers seem to be paying off. Regular train users report that there has been a sharp decline in the number of people they see crossing railway tracks in the city.

Up fast line services leaving Thane station from 10.46 am to 3.28 pm will halt at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

Mumbai: The opening date for the Rs.96-crore tender for the Kurla elevated harbour station was pushed back from August 7 to August 25 due to, what top Central Railway officials called, ‘technical reasons’. However, a group of railway officials maintained that the push-back has raised fears on whether the environment in the railways is ‘good and efficient’ enough for firms to come bidding for a Rs.96-crore work order.

The Rs.96-crore work order involves the creation of a rail flyover starting from the north of Chunabhatti station to the south of Tilaknagar station with a three-line Harbour station right above the current platforms 7 and 8. To be built on stilts, the elevated station would allow goods trains to move on the tracks at ground level while Harbour line trains ‘fly’ over them.

“Central Railway all through July has issued tenders worth Rs.550 crore. However, the fact remains that happy days are here only if there are enough firms to bid for these works. What we have been seeing for a long time is that the bigger construction companies which have the wherewithal to got for work upwards of Rs.100 crore are unwilling to work in the railway set-up which is at times excessively rigid, hierarchical and also prone to delays,” said a CR official. Last year, CR faced such a problem with work orders for several projects in the range of Rs.20-30 crore having to be re-issued as there were no bidders.

However, with the new railway dispensation under minister Suresh Prabhu talking big about completing pending projects and also looking to spend several lakh crore rupees to upgrade the railway infrastructure in the country, officials believe the situation is better than ever before. “Prabhu has made far-reaching changes in the way top-level officials like the general manager as well as members of the Railway Board can deal with even large tenders upwards of Rs.100 crore. We believe the streamlined processes will be attractive for firms to carry out these works,” said a top-ranking railway official.

Railway Minister to inaugurate Integrated Security System for Mumbai’s Central and Western Rail Systems

Mumbai: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the Integrated Security System (ISS) installed with a total cost Rs 21.72 Crore at four railway stations in the metropolis comprising CST, Dadar, Kurla and LTT on Monday.

He will also inaugurate the modified foot over bridge (FOB) to facilitate passenger movement at Diva, new FOB at Vithalwadi apart from laying the foundation stone of a multi-level two-wheeler parking at Thane.

According to PR department of Central Railway, a total of 118 CCTVs have been installed at Dadar station as part of ISS along with six monitors of 42 inches. While describing salient features of modified FOB at Diva, the statement said the width of extended foot over bridge is four meters and the length is 2.5 meters across PF No 1 and 2 with an approximate cost at Rs 75 lakh.

On multi-level two-wheeler parking at Thane, it said that under Phase-I, the work for the ground plus two structure involving shifting of some offices on the proposed site was completed in June 2015. Under Phase-II, work on parking is expected to be complete by December 2016. The total parking area after this would be 3000 sqmt against the 700 sqmt earlier.

The total cost of the project is Rs 5.50 crore,” said the statement. The new FOB at Vithalwadi has been built with a total cost of Rs 2.34 crore which has the width of 4.88 meters and length is 30 meters. Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal, New and Renewable Energy Minister Divakar Raote, Maharashtra Transport Minister Subhash Desai, Industries Minister Eknath Shinde along with other ministers would be present on the occasion.
