Special Trains between Hyderabad-Rameswaram & Hyderabad-Tiruchchirapalli
In order to clear extra rush of passengers, SCR will run 18 Special Trains between Hyderabad-Rameswaram & Hyderabad-Tiruchchirapalli as detailed below: -
1. Hyderabad - Rameswaram - Hyderabad Special Trains (08 Services):-
Train No. 07685 Hyderabad – Rameswaram special train will depart Hyderabad at 14:30 hrs o­n 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th June, 2020 (Fridays) and arrive Rameswaram at 00:15 hrs o­n Sundays.
In the return direction, Train No. 07686 Rameswaram - Hyderabad special train will depart Rameswaram at 05:00 hrs o­n 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th June, 2020 (Sundays) and arrive Hyderabad at 11:00 hrs o­n Mondays.
Enroute, these special trains will stop at Secunderabad, Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Guntur, Tenali, o­ngole, Nellore, Gudur, Renigunta, Katpadi, Vellore Cantt, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Chidambaram, Mayiladuturai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Tiruchirapalli, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Rd, Madurai, Manamadurai, Paramakkudi, Ramanathapuram and Mandapam stations o­n both the directions.
2. Hyderabad – Tiruchirappalli – Hyderabad Special Trains (10 services):-
Train No. 07610 Hyderabad – Tiruchchirapalli special train will depart Hyderabad at 22.20 hrs o­n 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th June, 2020 (Mondays) and arrive Tiruchchirapalli at 19.15 hrs o­n Tuesdays.
In the return direction, Train No. 07609 Tiruchchirapalli – Hyderabad special train will depart Tiruchchirapalli at 06.05 hrs o­n 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th June & 1st July, 2020 (Wednesdays) and arrive Hyderabad at 03.40 hrs o­n Thursdays.
Enroute, these special trains will stop at Secunderabad, Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Piduguralla, Guntur, Tenali, o­ngole, Nellore, Gudur, Renigunta, Tirupati, Pakala, Chittoor, Katpadi, Vellore Cantt, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur and Srirangam stations in both the directions.
*All these special trains will have AC II Tier, AC III Tier and Sleeper Class Coaches.

The following train services will be temporarily augmented as per the schedule given below:
1.Train No.12689/12690 MGR Chennai Central – Nagercoil – MGR Chennai Central Weekly Superfast Express trains have been temporarily augmented with one AC 3 – tier coach and o­ne Sleeper coach effective from 19th April upto 31st May, 2019 ex. Chennai Central and from 21st April to 2nd June, 2019 ex.Nagercoil.
2.Train No.22657/22658 Tambaram – Nagercoil – Tambaram Superfast Express trains have been temporarily augmented with one AC 3 – tier coach and o­ne Sleeper coach effective from 17th April upto 31st May, 2019 ex. Tambaram and from 18th April to 1st June, 2019 ex.Nagercoil.
3.Train No.16780/16779 Rameswaram – Tirupati – Rameswaram Express trains have been temporarily augmented with one AC 3 – tier coach effective from 18th April upto 30st May, 2019 ex. Rameswaram and from 19th April to 31st May, 2019 ex.Tirupati.

PUDUCHERY & RAMESWARAM EXPRESS TRAINS FROM BHUBANESWAR TO HAVE MODERN LHB COACHES

  • BHUBANESWAR-PUDUCHERY EXPRESS WILL RUN WITH LHB COACHES FROM 16TH APRIL
  • BHUBANESWAR-RAMESWARAM EXPRESS WILL RUN WITH LHB COACHES FROM 19TH APRIL

To provide better comfort and jerk free journey to the passengers, Railways have decided to run Bhubaneswar-Puduchery-Bhubaneswar and Bhubaneswar-Rameswaram-Bhubaneswar Express with modern Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches from this month. This will replace conventional coaches running at present.
12898/12897 Bhubaneswar-Puduchery-Bhubaneswar Express from Bhubaneswar w.e.f. 16th April, 2019 & from Puduchery w.e.f. 17th April, 2019 and 18496/18495 Bhubaneswar-Rameswaram-Bhubaneswar Express from Bhubaneswar w.e.f. 19th April, 2019 & from Rameswaram w.e.f. 21st April, 2019 will run with LHB coaches.
Both the trains will run with a load combination of 21 coaches i.e. One AC-2 tier, Four AC-3 tier, 11 Sleeper Class, Two Second Class Seating, Two Guard, Luggage & Seating and One Pantry Car which will increase the total capacity of berths.
LHB coaches are anti-telescopic, that means they do not flip in case of a collision, safer, lighter, more comfortable and jerk free. Replacement of ICF conventional coaches phase wise with LHB coaches is being done from safety point of view.

HON’BLE PRIME MINISTER TO FLAGGED OFF TEJAS EXPRESS AND ALSO LAID FOUNDATION STONE FOR TWO PRESTIGIOUS RAILWAY PROJECTS
Shri Narendra Modi Hon’ble Prime Minister of India laid the foundation stone for two prestigious projects and also flagged off Madurai – Chennai Tejas Express at a function at Kanniyakumari (today) Friday the 01st March, 2019 in the august presence of Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Tamilnadu, Shri Edappadi K Palaniswami, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Shri Pon Radhakrishnan, Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping, Shri O.Panneerselvam, Deputy Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Hon’ble Ministers from Tamilnadu, MPs and MLAs were graced the occasion.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister laid Foundation stones for Restoration of Rail Connectivity between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi (17.20km) at a cost of Rs.208 crore, and for Construction of new Bridge at Pamban Viaduct (2.05 Km) at a cost of Rs.250 crore. The Honble Prime Minister also flagged off the prestigious Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Express through video conferencing from Kanniyakumari. The regular service of Tejas Express will start from 2nd March from both ends.
Hon’ble Prime Minister in his key note address, expressed happiness in dedicating / Inaugurating various transport sector projects of Railways, Roadways and Highways today. He said that the Modern Madurai Chennai Tejas Express Train manufactured  by  ICF, under the “Make in India” Programme will be the fastest in Madurai – Chennai sector.
Similarly, the Rameswaram, Dhanushkodi line that was damaged during the 1964 cyclone, is finally getting reconstructed after more than 50 years of no attention, along with the New Bridge at Pamban which are certainly milestones of Railway progress in this region.
1.Laying of Foundation stone for Restoration of Rail Connectivity between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi (17.20km) Rs. 208 Cr.
‘Dhanushkodi’ meaning ‘Bow’s end’ in Tamil, is a village at the southern tip of Rameswaram Island.  It was o­nce a flourishing tourist and pilgrimage centre.  There was a 17.20 Km-long railway line between Pamban o­n Chennai – Rameswaram line and Dhanushkodi. A popular ferry service connected Dhanushkodi and Talaimannar in Sri Lanka. On 22nd December, 1964, the  train popularly called as ‘Boat mail’ which left Pamban with 115 passengers was hit by a massive tidal wave and got drowned under water. Pamban Bridge was also washed away. 
Now, after more than 50 years, the Railway line is being restored between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi - 17.2 km. at a cost of  Rs.208 crore with electrification.
This will immensely benefit hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting the famed tourist destination.  Modern signalling equipment and Electronic Interlocking facilities, 31 minor bridges and 10 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) will be constructed in the section.   There will be three halt railway stations in the new section between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi. Stations will be developed with all the facilities to promote the tourism in this sector including running of tourist special trains to this place.
2.Laying of Foundation Stone for Construction of New Pamban Viaduct Bridge No.346 (2.05 Km) – Rs. 250 Crore.
Celebrated as o­ne of the iconic structures of the erstwhile era, the great Pamban cantilever bridge was commissioned in 1914, has already served more than 104 years which is much more than codal life. With less years of residual life of the bridge, it has been proposed to reconstruct the bridge suitable for double line including navigational lift span parallel to the existing bridge at a cost of rupees 250 crores using cutting edge-edge Technologies.
The new Pamban viaduct (2.05 Kms) will have 100 spans of 18.3m steel girder and o­ne navigational span of 72.5 m and will be suitable for double line. It will be 3.0m higher than the existing bridge with navigational air clearance of 22.0m above sea level. Because of vertical lift, full horizontal width of 72.5m will be available for navigation.
3.Flagging off of new Tejas Express Train No. 22672/22671 (Madurai – Chennai Egmore six days a week except Thursday)

MADURAI: There will be changes in the pattern of train services in Madurai railway division on Wednesday (May 10) due to engineering work between Pamban and Rameswaram on the Manamadurai – Rameswaram section. Some of the trains will be partially cancelled, regulated and rescheduled to enable the engineering works, according to a statement from railways.

Number 56723 Madurai – Rameswaram passenger train will be partially cancelled between Mandapam and Rameswaram
Number 56722 Rameswaram – Madurai passenger train will be partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Mandapam.
Number 56829 Tiruchchirappalli – Rameswaram passenger train will be partially cancelled between Mandapam and Rameswaram
Number 56830 Rameswaram – Tiruchchirappalli passenger train will be partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Mandapam.
Train regulated
Number 56721 Madurai – Rameswaram passenger train will be regulated for 90 minutes at Pamban from 4.10 pm to 5.40 pm on Wednesday.
Trains rescheduled
Number 56726 Rameswaram – Madurai passenger train scheduled to leave Rameswaram at 6pm will be rescheduled to leave Rameswaram at 6.30pm.
