ESSENTIAL SERVICES STAFF AUTHORISED BY STATE GOVT CAN TRAVEL ON WORKMEN SPECIAL TRAINS ON CHENNAI SUBURBAN

In response to the request of the Govt. of Tamil Nadu, it is decided to permit ESSENTIAL SERVICES STAFF AUTHORISED BY THE STATE GOVERNMENT to travel in the limited no. of Suburban Trains run as Workmen Specials by Chennai Division of Southern Railway with effect from 05.10.2020. Details of train services will be displayed at the stations.

Govt. of Tamil Nadu nominated a State Govt. Official as the Nodal Officer for this purpose to authorise and issue specific travel permission to essential services staff to travel in Workmen special trains run in Chennai Suburban Sections. The specific travel permission shall have details such as Name, Designation, department /Office etc. This travel permission in original will be accepted by the Railways o­nly when presented along with the photo ID Card of the person issued by his/her office.

There will be two levels of checks of passengers at stations. First check will be done by the personnel of Govt. Railway Police/Railway Protection Force at the entry of Railway Station and the second check at the entry to the platforms by the Railway ticket checking staff.

Sanitization of Rakes at appropriate frequency will be done by Railways and passengers are requested to pay attention to the regular announcements made at Stations regarding the train services and observe the Covid-19 precautions such as wearing of face mask, social distancing, etc., while travelling o­n trains and also at stations.

Tickets will be issued o­nly to essential services staff authorised by the nodal officer of Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Both single journey and season tickets will be issued at the booking counters available at all sub-urban stations through UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System). The essential services staff should carry the specific travel permission issued by the nodal officer in original as well as their photo ID card while entering the station and also travelling.

Wherever there is more than o­ne booking counter, o­ne counter will be earmarked for Season Tickets. And wherever there is o­nly o­ne counter, o­nly single journey tickets will be issued during peak hours and season tickets will be issued after peak hours.

In case if the persons authorised to travel have season tickets, their validity will be extended to the extent of days lost during the suspension of suburban services.

IMPORTANT :-

•  Tickets will be issued o­nLY to ESSENTIAL SERVICES STAFF AUTHORISED BY THE NODAL OFFICER OF THE STATE GOVT. No tickets will be issued to General Public.
• Thermal Screening will be done for all the passengers. Passengers will be permitted o­nly if their temperature is within limits after Thermal screening at the entry.
• Railway Protection Force and Govt. Railway Police as well as State Police will be deployed at the entrance of various stations and passengers will have to show their ID card and specific travel permission issued by the nodal officer for entry.
• To prevent overcrowding of passengers at stations and o­n trains, appropriate restrictions will be imposed as deemed necessary.
•  All passengers shall wear a face mask at all times and shall observe all safety protocols.

• With a composition of 1 AC First Class Coach, One 2-Tier AC Coach, Two 3-Tier AC Coaches, 8 Sleeper Class Coaches, Three General Second Class Coaches, and Two Luggage Cum Brake Vans, Train No.06181 will leave Chennai Egmore at 20.25 hrs and reach Sengottai at 09.00 hrs the next day . In the return direction, Train No.06182 will leave Sengottai at 16.45 hrs and reach Chennai Egmore at 05.30 hrs..the next day.

• T.No02634 from Kanniyakumari on 09.09.2020
• With a composition of 1 AC First Class Cum AC Two Tier Coach, Two 2-Tier AC Coaches, Three 3-Tier AC Coaches, 10 Sleeper Class Coaches, and three General Second Class Coaches, Train No.02633 will leave Chennai Egmore at 17.15 hrs and reach Kanniyakumari at 06.20 hrs the next day. In the return direction, Train No.02634 will leave Kanniyakumari at 17.05 hrs and reach Chennai Egmore at 06.15 hrs the next day.

• T.No-02672 from Mettupalayam on 08.09.2020
• With a composition of One AC First Class Coach, Two 2-Tier AC Coaches, Six 3-Tier AC Coaches, 10 Sleeper Class Coaches, three General Second Class Coaches, 
• Train No.02671 will leave Dr MGR Chennai Central at 21.05 hrs and reach Mettupalayam at 06.15 hrs the next day, In the return direction, 
• Train No.02672 will leave Mettupalayam at 19.45 hrs and reach Dr MGR Chennai Central at 04.50 hrs the next day.

• With a composition of 1 AC Chair Car, 8 Second Class Chair Cars, 8 General Second Class, and two luggage cum Brake vans, 
• Train No.02627 will leave Tiruchchirappalli at 06.00 hrs and reach Nagercoil at 13.00 hrs. In the return direction, Train No.02628 will leave Nagercoil at 15.00 hrs and reach Tiruchchirappalli at 21.45 hrs.

All Safety Protocols as prescribed by MHA Guidelines shall be followed.

All passengers shall be compulsorily screened and only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to enter /board the train.

Passengers travelling by these special services will observe the following precautions :

(a) Only passengers with Confirmed tickets shall be allowed to enter the Railway station.

(b) All passengers shall be wearing face covers/masks at the entry and during travel.

(c) The passengers shall reach the station at-least 90 minutes in advance to facilitate thermal screening at the station. Only passengers who are found asymptomatic will be permitted to travel.

(d) Passengers shall observe social distancing both at the station and on trains.

All passengers are advised to download and use the Aarogya Setu application.

No Linen, blankets and curtains shall be provided inside the train. Passengers are advised to carry their own linen for the travel. The temperature inside AC coaches shall be suitably regulated for this purpose.

CANCELLATION OF SPECIAL TRAINS UPTO 15th SEPTEMBER, 2020

As per the request of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the following special  trains  running within Tamilnadu State  which  were  cancelled  till 31.08.2020  are further cancelled till 15th September, 2020

·Train Nos 02606/02605 Tiruchchirappalli - Chengalpattu - Tiruchchirappalli (via Vridhachalam) (daily). Superfast Intercity Special (Daily)

•  Train Nos 02636/02635 Madurai - Villupuram – Madurai Superfast Intercity Special (Daily)
•  Train Nos 02680/02679 Coimbatore - Katpadi - Coimbatore Superfast Intercity special (Daily)
• Train Nos. 06796/06795 Tiruchchirappalli - Chengalpattu - Tiruchchirappalli via Mayiladuthurai Special(Daily)
•  Train Nos 02675/02676 Arakkonam - Coimbatore – Arakkonam Superfast Intercity Special (Daily)
•  Train Nos. 02083/02084 Coimbatore - Mayiladuturai - Coimbatore Janshatabdi Special  (6 Days a week)
• Train Nos. 02627/02628 Tiruchchirappalli - Nagercoil - Tiruchchirappalli Superfast Intercity Special (Daily)

Southern Railway has notified that the following special trains would be run within the State of Tamil Nadu from 1st of June, 2020.

  1. T. No. 02083/02084 Coimbatore- Mayiladuturai – Coimbatore Janshatabdi special   (Except Tuesdays)

  2. T. No. 02636/02635 Madurai – Villupuram –Madurai Intercity Superfast special (daily)

  3. T. No. 02627/02628 Tiruchchirappalli- Nagercoil – Tiruchchirappalli Superfast special (daily)

  4. T. No. 02680/02679 Coimbatore- Katpadi- Coimbatore Intercity Superfast special (daily)

Besides, Dr MGR Chennai Central - New Delhi Rajdhani  Express Special train services(Bi-weekly) will continue to be operated.

Tamil Nadu Government has announced a set of protocols and guidelines for movement , testing and quarantine of persons from other States to Tamil Nadu as well as for the movement of persons within the state.  Accordingly the Government of Tamil Nadu has classified the state into 8 zones as under

a. For intra or inter district movement of rail passengers within the zone classified by government of Tamilnadu, TN-ePass is not required .b. For the movement of rail passengers from o­ne zone to another( other than zone 8), it is mandatory that rail passengers register the details o­nline and  obtain TNepass by applying o­n the website https://TNepass.tnega.org

Hence passengers are requested to apply for TNepass before starting their journey. This is o­nly as per the requirement of Govt. of Tamilnadu.

As per the requirement of State government Passengers are requested to carry the details of PNR number of their ticket, Name, address and phone numbers written/printed o­n a white paper. These details should be furnished for  all the  passengers booked under each PNR and  handed over to the officials nominated by Railway administration at the time boarding at the originating station.
