Tambaram,Tirunelveli Antyodaya Express Flagged Off By Union Minister Of State Of Railways

Hon’ble Union Minister of State of Railways flags off Tambaram – Tirunelveli Antyodaya Express
Shri Rajen Gohain, Hon’ble Union Minister of State of Railways, along with Shri Pon Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping, flagged off Antyodaya Express train service between Tambaram - Tirunelveli and dedicated the Coaching Terminal at Tambaram to the nation during a function held at Tambaram railway station today, the 8th of June, 2018 in the presence of Shri M.R.Vijayabhaskar, Hon’ble Transport Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri K.N.Ramachandran, M.P., Shri S.R.Raja. MLA, Shri R.K.Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway, and Principal Heads of Depts of Southern Railway, and other dignitaries.

Speaking at the function, Hon’ble Union Minister of State of Railways acclaimed the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu and expressed his happiness in introducing the new Antyodaya Service for the people of Tamil Nadu. He stated that the Coaching Terminal at Tambaram commissioned at a cost of Rs.40.4 crore would ease the congestion at the other two terminals in Chennai , i.e., Chennai Central and Chennai Egmore. The Minister lauded the efforts of Southern Railway in fast tracking infrastructural projects successfully which will improve train operations and Safety records in the coming years. The Minister mentioned that Southern Railway’s initiatives in reviving the heritage Steam Locos and conducting commercial runs is praiseworthy.

The minister added that Indian Railways will continuously strive to meet the demands of its customers and invited State Governments to extend support to Railways in all areas of passenger service. The minister said that he firmly believed that Indian Railways is the backbone of the Country’s infrastructure and with the cooperation, valuable support and relentless work by its dedicated work force, Indian Railways will attain new heights in the coming days

Shri R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway, Shri Naveen Gulati, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai, Principal Head of Departments and officers and staff of Southern Railway were present on the occasion.
