Due to water logging between Chaumahla – Talavli – Thuria on Kota – Nagda section over Kota Division of WCR, movement of some UP/Down WR trains will be cancelled & short terminated as under:-

Preparedness of Indian Railway for Monsoon Season
Ministry of Railways has geared up its machinery to ensure safe railway operation during the current monsoon season. Railway Board has already sent instructions to all Zonal railways to do necessary preparedness and undertake appropriate precaution to ensure safe railway operation during the monsoon season. Zonal Railways at their own level have also prepared booklets of detailed guidelines for the concerned railway staff for the rainy season. In brief, following measures have been taken to ensure safe railway operations: -
(i) Joint inspection of Railway affecting works (Canals, Tanks, Reservoirs etc.) with State Govt. officials and attention to deficiencies by State Governments.
(ii) Identification of Vulnerable locations on the basis of past history and pre monsoon inspections. Stationary watchman are deputed at vulnerable bridges/locations. Patrolman deputed in vulnerable sections.
(iii) Detailed Guidelines have been issued by the Zonal Railways for Monsoon Patrolling and protection of vulnerable bridges/locations.
(iv) Adequate monsoon reserves such as Boulders, sand/quarry dust, relieving girders, wire net trungers etc. have been stacked at identified locations and also loaded in wagons for early restoration of the site in case of breaches/washouts etc.
(v) In the event of abnormal rainfall or storm during day or night, the Railway officials (Mate) organise patrolling over the length affected.
(vi) Arrangement made by Railway with the concerned Meteorological Centre for receipt of bad weather warnings covering heavy rainfall, high velocity winds, cyclone etc.
(vii) Liaison has been maintained with local authorities for monitoring of excess release of water from reservoirs/Dams so that adequate protection of Railway structure could be taken without loss of time.
(viii) Regular cleaning of catch water drains and side drains to ensure free flow and quick drainage of storm water.
(ix) In hilly areas, where there is incidence of falling boulders, a survey is carried out to locate loose boulders. Such loose boulders are being dropped in a systematic manner.
(x) Railway Officials inspect sections during monsoon by footplate/motor trolley etc. specially during period of Heavy rains/weather forecast.

By removing the 15 kmph speed restriction between CST and Byculla, CR will save up to 3 minutes per train thereby creating slots for new services
Sacrificing the 137-year-old Hancock Bridge was spelt good news for Mumbai commuters in more ways than one. To begin with, the perennial problem of waterlogging between Byculla and Sandhurst Road will cease from this rainy season, as tracks can now be raised. The Central Railway (CR) authorities will now also be able to increase speeds of local trains marginally, and it will help overall improvement on a much larger scale.
Improving speed
Once the track is raised, the work on new bridge, that would be at least 6 metres in height from the track level, will begin. The CR authorities also claim the dismantling of the bridge will result in improvement in speeds of local trains. “Now that the height restriction is not there, we will remove the speed restriction which was 15kmph. This will allow faster movement of trains between Byculla and CST,” said SK Sood, General Manager, Central Railway.
The officials claim that speeds up to 90kmph can be easily achieved and this would mean saving of 2-3 minutes per train. Each hour, on an average around 20 train services operate on each line, depending on if it is peak or off-peak hour. The saving of time would help in adding train services too. The Hancock Bridge had a height of around 4.27 metres from track level. An area just metres away from Sandhurst Road railway station gets affected during heavy rains every year. Now with the bridge gone, CR is sure there is a remedy. “We are now in a position to lift the tracks easily by six inches, which will bring respite to commuters during rains. There is another bridge adjacent to Hancock Bridge, which carries a pipeline and so we cannot raise it,” said a CR official. They also want to ensure that the track level doesn’t go up substantially, as they recently raised the height of the platform at Sandhurst Road station upto 900mm from the track. Also there are curvatures towards the station that prevent them from raising the height of the track all through the route. During monsoon, the railways curtails train services, or implements heavy speed restrictions, in case of heavy rains and waterlogging. They also place water pumps to drain out water. In the coming months, the BMC and CR authorities will finalise the drawings and designs of the new bridge that will come up at the same spot. They will take on Carnac Bunder Bridge and Matunga foot over bridge as the next two bridges to go in the coming months. Both are very old and have been declared dangerous.

Kolkata, Aug 1 (IANS) Trains services in West Bengal were hit on Saturday following heavy overnight rainfall that flooded some crucial railways stations and car sheds.
The Eastern Railway (ER) cancelled one train while the other trains were running late. The South-Eastern Railway (SER) rescheduled two trains on account of waterlogging.
“One train has been cancelled,” an Eastern Railway spokesman told IANS.
However, he said trains are running late by 15-30 minutes due to waterlogging.
“Both passenger and freight services have not stopped or been cancelled… but Express, mail and EMU local train services have been delayed,” he said.
Mahapatra said swift action is being taken in areas wherever waterlogging has happened.
The SER rescheduled the 18645 Howrah-Hyderabad East Coast Express and 12860 Howrah-Mumbai Gitanjali Express.
The first left Howrah at 1.50 p.m. while the latter took off towards its destination at 3.50 p.m.
SER officials said waterlogging at the vital Howrah junction, Tikiapara and Santragachi railway yards also resulted in congestion, delaying the trains.

Several parts of Kolkata and West Bengal are lying waterlogged following the rains due to a depression over Bay of Bengal caused by the cyclone Komen.
There was 117.4 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m. on Saturday and spells of rains and thundershowers are expected during the entire day, Met officials said.

Heavy rains since Thursday night has left parts of Mumbai submerged affecting road and rail traffic bringing the city to a grinding halt.
Normal life in Mumbai was on Friday thrown out of gear as torrential rains battered the city and its suburbs resulting in cancellation of local train services leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
The Brihanmumbai Mumbai Municipal Corporation issued a flood alert on Friday and have advised people to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
A high tide of around 4.60 metres is expected around 2 pm and citizens have been instructed to avoid using roads facing the sea.
There seems to be no let up in the situation with the Meteorological Department predicting heavy to very heavy monsoon rains in some areas.
In the early hours, thousands of commuters leaving for offices were caught unaware on reaching the suburban railway stations as trains were being cancelled due to water-logging of tracks following heavy downpour since last night.
As services on all three railway lines–Central, Western and Harbour–were cancelled, harried commuters rushed to catch buses, taxis or any other mode of transport available to reach their destinations, which resulted in massive traffic jams at many places, exacerbated by inundation in low-lying areas.
With Central Railway cancelling its services on CST-Thane section on the main line and Harbour line as well, commuters got stuck at suburban platforms.
The Western Railway services which were initially running late by 10 to 15 minutes, were later cancelled.
The rains resulted in water-logging in almost all low-lying areas of Mumbai and its suburbs.
“Thane-Karjat/Kasara and Vasvhi-Panvel Shuttle services and trans-harbour services are running,” said Central Railway PRO A K Singh.
“Our supervising staff are alert and as soon water level recedes, services would be resumed,” he said.
According to information given by the control room of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), water-logging is reported in areas like Kurla, Chembur, Tilak Nagar, Andheri, Parel, Lower Parel, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Dombivili.
An IMD forecast at 0800 hours on Friday said, “Intermittent rains/shower would occur in the city and suburbs. Heavy to very heavy rains would occur in some areas.”
The average rainfall recorded in 24 hours ending 8 am on Friday is — City 188 mm, Eastern Suburbs 155 mm, Western Suburbs 172 mm while the high tide (4.47 metres) is expected at 2:29 pm.
According to a statement issued by BMC, as many as 120 suction pumps have been pressed into service to drain out water in low-lying areas.
