Passengers Waitlisted Ticket Confirmation By Automated Tool

Passengers Waitlisted Ticket Confirmation By Automated Tool
Tool for prediction of confirmation probability of waitlisted tickets in Railways
A tool has been developed to predict the probability of waitlisted ticket getting confirmed at the time of booking as well as during Passenger Name Record (PNR) enquiry of waitlisted ticket. The tool has been developed using the algorithm of Machine learning.  The machine learning model has been developed using the waitlisted PNR data of past 2 years.  This model creates the pattern for the various waitlist scenarios and predicts the probability for the future date journey.
The salient features of the scheme are as under:-
(i) It predicts the probability of waitlist status for General Quota.
(ii)The tool considers the high waitlist scenario of Holiday rush.
It displays the trend of last waitlist ticket got confirmed for the same journey during previous year.
Prediction of dynamic probability is based on current status.
Currently this feature is integrated with Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website only. In IRCTC website this feature is operational w.e.f. 13 June, 2018 as under:-
When the user is doing the booking transaction, and if the status of accommodation availability of the inputted journey is waitlisted, then the user can check the probability of confirmation.
At the time of PNR enquiry of waitlisted ticket, the user can check the probability of confirmation.
This information was given by the Minister of State of Railways Shri Rajen Gohain in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on 20.07.2018.

Send an SMS to clean train coaches

Send an SMS to clean train coaches

Guwahati: The NF Railway has started an SMS-based coach-cleaning system in mail and express trains originating from Guwahati which don't have on-board housekeeping service.
NF Railway CPRO Pranav Jyoti Sharma said, "The facility is available between 6 am and 10 pm. On receipt of the SMS, the division through which the train is passing would be immediately alerted so that the cleaning requirement can be attended at the next nominated station. Passengers are requested to avail the newly introduced facility," the CPRO said.
Passengers having confirmed journey tickets may ask the cleaning staff to attend their coach by sending an SMS to 58888. Alternatively, they can enter the PNR number at www.cleanmycoach.com. Passengers also have an option of downloading an android mobile app CLEANMYCOACH INDIAN RAILWAYS for sending their requests. The software named OBSERVE (On Board Services) will forward the request to mobile phone of the cleaner present in the particular train directly.

‘Clean my coach’ SMS service in train a hit in Pune Division

‘Clean my coach’ SMS service in train a hit in Pune Division

The response to the service has prompted the Central Railways to expand it to other long-distance trains as well.

An SMS-based coach cleaning service being provided by Pune Division aboard Pune-Jammu Tawi Jhelum Express, has been keeping the onboard housekeeping staff busy. The facility has generated good response from the passengers who, Pune Division officials say, send as many as 60 to 70 such complaints during each journey of the train. The response to the service has prompted the Central Railways to expand it to other long-distance trains as well.

Under the scheme, passengers can request for a housekeeping staffer to come and clean the coach if they find a dirty spot by sending an SMS to 56677.

The passenger has to type <CLEAN> space <PNR NUMBER> and send the message to 56677.

Soon after the message is sent, a notification is sent to the on-board housekeeping team which has to reach the coach in specified time and address the complaint. Meanwhile, the complainant receives a code which he has to provide to the housekeeping staffer after he is satisfied with the cleaning. The complaint is considered as closed only when the staffer keys in this code obtained from the complainant.

Based on the passenger feedback, the money to be paid to the housekeeping firm is decided. If the Passenger Satisfaction Index (PSI) is below 60 per cent (meaning if 60 per cent of complainants provide negative feedback), the firm will not get any of the agreed upon payment. To ensure full payment, the housekeeping firm has to keep a PSI above 85 per cent. Nationally, the scheme has so far been implemented in around 385 trains.

Presently, this service is being provided in 23 Rajdhani, 21 Shatabdi, 27 Duronto & 314 other identified long-distance Mail/Express trains for frequent cleaning of coach toilets, doorways, aisles and passenger compartments during the run of the trains. Other important trains as identified by Zonal Railways are also planned for provision of OBHS.

As per Divisional Railway Manager BK Dadabhoy, the service started in Jhelum Express is getting an encouraging response. “We had started the service in Jhelum Express on a pilot basis. As many as 60 to 70 complaints are being generated during every journey.

Soon, the facility will be expanded to more trains,” said Dadabhoy. Dadabhoy said that apart from this service, Pune Division was also making efforts to make to improve cleanliness. “We have installed 475 bio-toilets in 156 coaches attached to long-distance trains. Slowly, the number will go up. Similarly, we are taking efforts to make the Pune Station into a green station by installing solar panels at the Pune Station,” said Dadabhoy.

PNR status and railway reservations explained step by step …
WL and RAC
When all available seats on a train are sold, the railway ( Indian Railway or IRCTC ) releases RACs for railway reservations. Once all of those are sold, WL tickets are released. On almost every train, tickets are canceled for a variety of reasons. These cancellations can get you on the train if you bought an RAC or WL ticket. When the reservation chart of a particular train is ready (usually meaning that the train is due to depart in a few hours) and there are still some available tickets in different quotas, those will be given to RAC/WL ticket holders.passenger details on Indian

Railways ticketseat class of the Indian Railways ticket

Here is an example of a railway reservation situation. Tickets are sold in the following order:
1.    Available 02
2.    Available 01
3.    RAC 01
4.    RAC 02
5.    RAC 03
6.    RAC 04
7.    WL 01
8.    WL 02
Understanding your ticket and WL number of PNR status
On your ticket, there are two numbers. They tell you the position at which you joined the waitlist and your current position – in this order. Here is an example:
You are booking a ticket online (Indian Railway, IRCTC, etc…). You find the train and class/seat/berth that you want along with the date and time. At the end of the reservation, you buy a ticket with WL5/WL2.
In this example you joined the WL at position 5, but by the time you actually bought the ticket online you moved to position 2 (due either to a cancellation or to someone not making a final booking). The first number will stay the same – it indicates when you JOINED the queue. The second number will decrease until you get a ticket (hopefully).
Your railway reservation could look like:
·         WL 5/WL 2 (this is your starting position)
·         WL 5/WL 1
·         WL 5/RAC 3
·         WL 5/RAC 2
·         WL 5/RAC 1
·         WL 5/CNF
WL 5/WL 2 = Waitlist ticket: you cannot board the train.
WL 5/RAC 3 = RAC ticket: you are allowed to board the train, but you may end up on a seat instead of a berth.
WL 5/CNF = Confirmed ticket: you can board the train and you have a berth to yourself.
WL and RAC refunds
If your train is ready for departure and its reservation chart is finalized, the cost of your WL ticket will be automatically refunded to your bank account.
NOTE: There can be significant movement on the waitlist on the very last day, so you may get an RAC status at the last minute. In such a case, you will not get a refund, as an RAC is actually a boarding ticket.
