ENGAGING OF ACT APPRENTICES IN CARRIAGE & WAGON WORKS, PERAMBUR

It is proposed to engage 862 candidates as Act Apprentices for the year 2016 – 17 in CARRIAGE & WAGON WORKS, PERAMBUR and various units of Southern Railway in the trades of Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Painter, Upholster, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wire man, Winder (Armature), Cable jointer, Mechanic (HT, LT equipment & cable jointing), Turner, Medical laboratory technician, Machinist, Electrician, Diesel mechanic, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning mechanic, Electronics mechanic and Programming / System Administration Assistant.

Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Puducherry o­nly are eligible to apply.The candidates should have the qualification of Matriculation / ITI and should be in the age group of 15 – 24.Full details are available in the notification uploaded in the website www.sr.indianrailways.gov.in

Candidates should apply in the prescribed application which can be downloaded in the website www.sr.indianrailways.gov.inThe candidates are eligible for stipend as prescribed under the Apprentices Act.The selection is o­n the basis of merit list prepared based o­n the marks secured in the X and ITI in respect of all the candidates who apply against the notification.The filled in applications along with the processing fee of Rs.100/- (except SC/ST/PWD/Women candidates) should reach the Workshop Personnel Officer, Carriage & Wagon Works, Perambur, Southern Railway, Chennai – 600 023 o­n or before 20.06.2016.

The following special trains will be run to clear the extra rush of traffic.

Special trains between Thiruvananthapuram – Chennai Central

Train No.06088 Thiruvananthapuram – Chennai Central special train will leave Thiruvananthapuram at 19.00 hrs. on 21.10.2015 and reach Chennai Central at 11.30 hrs. the next day.

Train No.06089 Chennai Central – Thiruvananthapuram special train will leave Chennai Central at 15.15 hrs. on 22.10.2015 and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 07.45 hrs. the next day.

Composition:AC 2-tier – 2, AC 3-tier – 3, Sleeper Class – 12, General Second Class – 2 & Luggage-cum-brake van – 2 coaches.

Stoppages:Kollam, Kayankulam, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Chenganaseri, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Arakkonam.

Train No.06088 Thiruvananthapuram – Chennai Central special train will stop at Perambur also.

Advance reservations for the above trains will commence on 24.09.2015.

GM/ICF flags off the 1st Rake of Series Production of the New Generation 1600 HP DEMUs

Chennai: The 1st Rake in the Series Production of the New Generation 1600 HP DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Unit) with 3-phase AC (Alternate Current) transmission was flagged of by Ashok K. Agarwal, General Manager, today at the Integral Coach Factory, Perambur.

L.C.Trivedi, Chief Mechanical Engineer and other Senior Officials were also present during the occasion. The rake has been dispatched to the Northern Railway.

The 1600 HP DEMUs with IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) technology is maintenance friendly and has high energy efficiency than the conventional 700 HP DEMUs and 1400 HP DEMUs.

These DEMUs are provided with micro processor based control system and 3-phase motors for powering train. Each rake of these DEMU contains 10 coaches against 8 coaches in the existing DEMUs.

These coaches have more seating capacity and improved interior passenger amenities and will provide better travelling experience for the commuters. Stainless Steel body, GPS based Passenger Information System, aesthetic Interior paneling with concealed screws, wider sliding doors, wider vestibule openings for easy movement of passengers, stainless steel chequered anti-slip flooring, polycarbonate hand holds with nylon straps, improved design cushion seats with stainless steel frames with bottle holder, toilets in the trailer coaches are some of the salient features of these coaches.

CONTINUATION OF WEEKLY SPECIAL TRAIN NO 06336 / 06335

The following weekly special trains will be run between Kochuveli – Guwahati (via.Perambur, without touching Chennai Central) to clear the extra rush of passengers.

Train No.06336 Kochuveli – Guwahati weekly special train will leave Kochuveli at 12.00 hrs. from 04.10.2015 to 25.10.2015 (Sundays), leave Perambur at 05.20 hrs. on Mondays and arrive Guwahati at 08.15 hrs. on Wednesdays. 

Train No.06335 Guwahati – Kochuveli weekly special train will leave Guwahati  at 23.25 hrs. from 07.10.2015 to  28.10.2015 (Wednesdays), leave Perambur at 04.30 hrs. on Saturdays and arrive Kochuveli at 22.30 hrs. on Saturdays.

The composition of the trains will be 12 Sleeper Class, 7 General Second Class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

The trains will stop at Kollam, Kayankulam, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrisur, Palakkad, Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Arakkonam, Perambur, Gudur, Nellore, o­ngole, Tenali, New Guntur, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Hijili, Midnapur, Bishnupur, Bankura, Adra, Asansol, Durgapur, Rampurhat, Malda Town, Barsoi Jn., Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Dhupguri, New Coochbehar, New Alipurduar, Koarajhah, New Bongaigaon Jn., Goalpara Town and Kamakhya.

Railway Minister inaugurates new LHB Manufacturing Plant, flags-off 50000th Coach at ICF/Perambur

Perambur (PER): Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu today dedicated LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) manufacturing unit located at Integral Coach Factory (ICF) at Perambur.

The unit has been set up at a cost of Rs 252 crore to manufacture 300 LHB stainless steel coaches.

He also flagged off  the 50,000th coach manufactured at ICF. ICF is one of the earliest production units in India. It was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru in 1955.

ICF is capable of producing close to 2000 coaches per year and has produced 50,000 coaches since its inception around in 500 different designs.

The factory has turned out an outrun of 1704 coaches in 2014-15 consisting of 50 variants.

Railway Minister to launch ICF/Perambur’s 50,000th Coach on Monday

New Delhi: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will roll out the Indian Railways’ 50,000th coach on Monday, marking a momentous occasion for the national transporter in achieving a record performance in the coach manufacturing sector.

The 50,000th AC three-tier coach will come out of the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai when the Railway Minister will press a remote button from the Rail Bhavan in the national Capital. Beside dedicating the 50,000th conventional coach to the nation, Prabhu will also inaugurate the upgrading facility at the ICF for production of Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches in Chennai, through video conference facility from here.

A premier industry, ICF was set up in 1955. Since then the factory has been manufacturing conventional coaches approximately 1,500 a year, catering to the ever-increasing demand of coaches for new trains.

IFC manufactures various types of AC and non-AC coaches including EMUs (Electrical Multiple Units) and DEMU (Diesel Electrical Multiple Units), Metro coaches for Kolkata Metro. Now the ICF will also manufacture LHB coaches, till now made at Rail Coach factory at Raebareli and Kapurthala. LHB coaches are mainly used in premier trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto services.
