Stoppage at Dindigul for Tejas Express 

Railway Board has permitted stoppage for Train No.02613/02614 Chennai Egmore – Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Special at Dindgul in lieu of Kodaikanal Road for a period of Six months o­n experimental basis with effect from 02nd April, 2021 to 02nd October, 2021as follows:-

Train No.02613 Chennai Egmore – Madurai Tejas Special Express (6 days a Week) will leave Chennai Egmore o­n all days except Thursdays with the stoppage at Dindigul (11.03(Arr)/11.05(Dep))  until 02nd October, 2021

In return direction Train No.02614 Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Special Express (6 days a Week) with the stoppage at Dindigul at (15.45(Arr)/15.47(Dep)) until 02nd October, 2021

The details of timings and stoppages of Train No.02613/02614 Chennai Egmore – Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Special is as follows:

CHANGES IN TRAIN SERVICES
Due to Line Block / Power Block to facilitate engineering works for commissioning the second broad gauge railway line between Kalpattichatram – Tamaraipadi railway stations in Manaparai – Dindigul section of Madurai Division, changes will be made in the pattern of train services as detailed below.

On 30.03.2018
1.Train No.16127 / 16129 Chennai Egmore – Guruvayur / Tuticorin link express, scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore o­n 30.03.2018, will be diverted from Tiruchchirappalli via Karur to reach Dindigul.Consequently, the train will skip the stoppage at Manaparai.
2.Train No.16128 / 16130 Guruvayur / Tuticorin – Chennai Egmore link express, scheduled to reach Dindigul o­n 30.03.2018, will be diverted from Dindigul via Karur to reach Tiruchchirappalli.Consequently, the train will skip the stoppage at Manaparai.

South to North -IRCTC Tourist Train (Diwali Ganga snan) from Madurai

IRCTC tour to Ayodhya, Mathura

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will operate a 12-day Bharat Darshan special tourist train tour (Diwali Ganga snan) from Madurai, covering places such as Gaya, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Allahabad, Delhi and Mathura from November 6. The package of tour is Rs. 9,940 per person.

An IRCTC statement said that the special train, with sleeper class coaches, carries only tourists. Tourists would be provided with non-AC hall/dormitory accommodation and non-AC road transfers. Throughout the tour, they would be served South Indian vegetarian food.

The tourists would also get tour escort and security for each coach along with PA system. The train would go through Dindigul, Karur, Erode, Salem, Chennai Central and Vijayawada.

Safety Audit begins in Dindigul-Tiruchi section

Railway officials say it’s a route inspection to ensure passenger safety

Dindigul (DG): A special safety audit team from Southern Railway, Chennai, led by Chief Safety Officer John Thomas, checked safety aspects in major stations and level crossings in Dindigul-Tiruchi section on Wednesday.

Talking to press persons before commencing the work at Dindigul railway station, Mr. Thomas said that the main purpose of the inspection was to ensure safety of passengers.

Safety audits were being conducted regularly by a multi-disciplinary team of railway officers to ensure implementation of all rules and guidelines for safe operation of trains.

“We will inspect stations, bridges, level crossings, signal cabins, accident relief trains, pit lines, running rooms, loco sheds, points and crossings and derailment-prone sections. Such periodical inspections served as an important tool to evaluate safety performance and to identify system failures and general shortcomings,” he added.

The railway officials said that the safety audit team would submit its report to the zonal railways which, in turn, would forward it to the Railway Board.

These reports would help the Board issue necessary safety instructions when required.

Later, the team inspected the signal cabin and asked the officials what their requirements were and whether they used advanced electronic tracking system provided to Dindigul railway station.

They also inquired about additional signal system on formation of additional tracks on platform 1 which is under construction.Railway Station Manager K. Mariappan accompanied the team. The team completed its inspection up to Manaparai in the evening.

Earlier, the team had a meeting with Divisional Railway Manager Sunil Kumar Garg, and other officers at Madurai divisional office. Senior officers from Safety, Engineering, Traffic and Signal and Telecommunications wings were the other members of the audit team.

On Tuesday evening, the team had inspected Madurai-Dindigul section, including Kodai Road and Ambathurai stations.
