NO E-PASS REQUIRED FOR LADIES AND CHILDREN (BELOW THE AGE OF 15 YEARS) IN TAKING METRO RIDE FROM 20.11.2020(FRIDAY)

Here is good news for Metro commuters! Metro authorities have decided to allow ladies and children (below the age of 15 years) to travel in the Metro from 11:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs without any e-pass from tomorrow i.e. 20.11.2020(Friday). 

They can travel in the Metro using their smart cards from 11:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs. Children must carry an ID as age proof (School ID will do).

The schemes of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment are meant for the weaker sections of society, including women. While in some schemes percentage of funds or seats are earmarked for women, some women specific initiatives are as under:
  1. The three Corporations under the administrative control of the Ministry have schemes of Mahila Kisan Yojana, Mahila Samriddi Yojana, New Swarnima Yojana and Mahila Adhikarita Yojana.
  2.  Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens has a component for 50 elderly senior citizen women under the scheme of Senior Citizen Homes.

In order to strengthen the Railway Degree College for the welfare of the wards of Railway Employees, South Central Railway has introduced the following Degree courses from the academic year 2017-18.

Kendriya Vidyalaya admissions 2017: List for Class 1 to be released today

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) is expected to release the admission list for Class 1 on Wednesday on its official website.
More than 6 lakh children registered for admissions in Class 1. The registration process that was open for all Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in the 25 regions started on February 8.
The admission process has been online and cloud based in order to make it transparent.
Due to heavy demand from parents and students for admissions, the KVS extended the last date for registration in Class 1 by 5 days to March 15.

The registration process for Class 2 to 9 will begin in April and admissions for Class 11 in KVs will start after the declaration of the result of CBSE Class 10 board examination.
KVs are centrally funded schools that provide quality education at affordable rates in the country. Over 1.2 million students study in 1,142 KVs across the country.

In a major relief for government employees, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has announced several relaxations in General Provident Fund Rules, with liberalization and simplification, particularly relating to advances and withdrawals by the subscriber/ employee. 

According to the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, the existing GP Fund (Central Service) Rules came into force way back in 1960 and even though certain amendments have been made from time to time to address the concerns raised, it was felt to be the need of the hour to bring in some more changes for the convenience of the Government employees. The liberalization in the provisions was essentially meant to bring in ease of procedures, especially for activities like house building, education of children etc., thus making the rules more employee-friendly. 

Elaborating further, Dr Jitendra Singh stated that the requirement of documentary proof for withdrawing GP Fund has been done away with. As a result, a simple declaration by the subscriber / employee would suffice henceforth, he added. Similarly, the minimum time limit for sanction and payment of GP Fund withdrawal would not be more than 15 days and in case of an emergency like illness, etc., it could only be 7 days. At the same time, the limit of withdrawal also has been increased following which, now the withdrawal for housing can be up to 90% of the balance at credit and withdrawal for purchase of vehicle / car can be up to 3/4th of the balance at credit. 

Considering the importance of education, the definition of education for the purpose of withdrawal of GP Fund has now been widened to include primary, secondary and higher education covering all streams and institutions. Not only this, GP Fund advance can now also be applied for travel and tourism related activities, he said. 

Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Government expects its employees to work with full dedication, sincerity and diligence, but at the same time, it is also always seriously considering various means and provisions to provide them with a work-friendly environment and socio-economic stability, so that they may put in their best without any unnecessary distraction.

Admit children of all central govt employees: SC to Sanskriti School

The Supreme Court on Thursday directed prestigious Sanskriti School in the Capital to admit children of all central government employees with transferable jobs for the upcoming academic year and not just civil services.

Sanskriti School reserves as much as 60% of its seats for the wards of Group A bureaucrats. The temporary order opens the gates of the school to the children of Group B officers as well.

A bench, headed by justice AR Dave, also said that the school shall also give preference to the children of all Indian Foreign Service officers, defence services officers and central government officers posted in Delhi.

As an interim measure, the SC also put on hold the Delhi high court verdict that quashed the school’s reservation policy. It asked both Sanskriti and the Centre to submit a scheme on how they intended to continue with the reservation policy without a legal backing.

The Delhi high court had quashed the reservation policy last year, stating that it catered to the “elite” group. The court also held that the school received government grants from the state exchequer.

The apex court gave them six weeks’ time to submit the report and fixed April 6 to finally determine whether the school is managed by the state or a private society.

The bench clarified that its order would not interfere with the Delhi government’s notification striking down the management quota. Delhi government’s counsel Siddharth Dave argued that the 60% reservation amounted to having a management quota.

A forum of private schools has already challenged the notification before the Delhi high court, which is likely to give a final order on January 28.

Senior counsel Kapil Sibal, assisting the court in the case, asserted the school and government must come out with a policy in support of its reservation for the elite class of bureaucrats.

Ministry of Railways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in February, 2010 with Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) for development of educational facilities for wards of railway employees as well as of children living in the vicinity of railway habitations. This MOU, inter-alia, envisages setting up of 50 Civil Sector Kendriya Vidyalayas by Ministry of HRD on the land to be provided by Railways during 11th and 12th Plan periods. Pursuant thereto, Ministry of HRD has sanctioned twelve new Kendriya Vidyalayas namely at Carriage Repair Workshop Harnaut (Bihar), Cast Wheel Plant, Bela (Bihar), Railway Campus, Nanded (Maharashtra), Railway Campus, Rangiya (Assam), Freeland Ganj Railway Colony, Dahod (Gujarat), Krishnarajapuram Diesel Loco Shed Colony, Bangalore (Karnataka), Shakurbasti, West Punjabi Bagh (Delhi), Bandel Railway Colony, Hooghly (West Bengal), Angul (Odisha), Golden Rock, Tiruchirapally (Tamil Nadu), Rail Coach Factory, Raebareily (Uttar Pradesh) and Jhajha, Jamui (Bihar).

This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.
