ECoREA Engineers slam Report of Pay Panel

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway Engineers’ Association (ECoREA) has criticised the report submitted by Seventh Pay Commission stating it to be erroneous and favourable to officers at highest level.

“During a meeting with the Commission members at Kolkata in January this year, the association was assured of Group B status and better pay slab with perks. But, we have been betrayed,” ECoREA president Bobin Mohanty alleged.

President of All India Railway Engineers’ Federation Sanjib Kumar argued that the office staff who are not linked to movement of trains or passengers’ safety have been benefited with better pay structure and career growth. But, the railway engineers are at a loss, he added.

“The dream project to run ‘Bullet Train’ would be affected badly due to negligence to railway engineers by the Commission and Railway Board,” he said.

Sanjib warned that 80,000 railway engineers would go for a mass leave on December 1 and 2 and follow work-to-rule later on which safety of railways would be affected seriously, if their grievances are not addressed.
