Konkan Railways to serve ethnic food; invites tenders

The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited(KRCL) has invited tenders from reputed caterers to serve ethnic food on major stations of Konkan Railway route.

Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu had issued instructions to KRCL to explore the possibility of serving ethnic food to the passengers, to promote local products of self-employed groups.

Konkan Railway traverses through Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka.

The tender will be opened on September 3 and based on the outcome of the tender proceedings, Konkan Railway will be able to fulfill the long cherished dream of serving ethnic food as a delicacy to its esteemed passengers travelling on Konkan Railway route, said a spokesperson of KRCL on Wednesday.

This will also generate more employment to the people on its route, apart from promoting their local products and delicacies, said the spokesperson.
