How to use Station Wi-Fi ?

With mission of turning Railway stations into platforms for Digital inclusion, RailTel has provided state of the art public Wi-Fi under the brand name of Railwire. Currently 6028+ stations are live with RailTel’s RailWire Wi-Fi. This is one of the largest and fastest public Wi-Fi networks of the world. We intend to provide Wi-Fi at all (except the halt ones) Railway stations and only few hundred stations are left to reach the mark. Passengers can use this facility for streaming High Definition (HD) Videos, download of movies, songs, games, and do their offices work online within the station premises.

The Wi-fi is free for the first 30 min of usage every day at 1 mbps speed. For using the Wi-Fi facility further at higher speed, the user needs to choose a plan with higher speed by paying a nominal fee. The plans vary from Rs. Rs 10/day (for 5 GB @ 34 MBPS) to Rs. 75/30 day (for 60 GB @ 34 MBPS) excluding GST. A number of payment options like net banking, wallet, credit card can be used to purchase plan online.

To further monetize the infrastructure created advertisement based monetisation is planned.

How to use station Wi-Fi :

Switch on the Wi-Fi mode on you smartphone

Select the RailWire Wi-Fi network

Enter Mobile and get one-time password (OTP) through SMS

Enter OTP and start accessing High speed Wi-Fi

Konkan Railway took various initiatives under able guidance of Hon’ble Railway Minister for the upliftment of Konkan Region by way of providing more and more passenger amenities/facilities on its railway stations which has facilitated in making the journey more comfortable.  
Konkan Railway in its continued efforts and dedicated approach to community development and with a view to provide FREE Internet bandwidth to the rural areas of Konkan Region, Konkan Railway  has tied up with M/s SYSCON/JOISTER for provision of 2 Mbps peer to peer 24 hrs FREE Wi-Fi INTERNET bandwidth at  28 stations of Konkan Railway. This is an unique service being provided by Konkan Railway to its passengers.
In line with Government’s Digital India Initiative, M/s SYSCON/JOISTER are providing the JOISPOT brand Wi-Fi in Pune & Mumbai educational institutes in Maharashtra state and have now undertaken as  part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity of providing FREE Wi-Fi bandwidth to the rural area on the Konkan route.
JOISPOT  Free Wi-Fi mobile app provides 2 MBPS high speed Wireless internet with unlimited uploads. The highlights of FREE Wi-Fi Internet bandwidth provided at Konkan Railway stations are:
It covers the Station entrance and Circulating area.
To access the Free Wi-fi, user has to open the JOISPOT mobile app and register using his/her name and mobile number and request for One time password (OTP).
Un-limited FREE Wi-Fi facility will be provided at 28 stations from KOLAD to MADURE in the initial phase with a peer to peer speed of 2 Mbps.
The system can provide access to about 300 users at bigger stations and about 100 users at smaller stations.
This facility will  helps travelling public, commutes & tourists on Konkan Railway to access essential information and they could use their time productively while waiting for trains at railway stations. This initiative of corporation is a steps towards making a smarter India.
Hon’ble Minister of Railway Shri Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the said facility very soon.
Konkan Railway always believes in providing better passenger amenities to its passengers for their comfortable journey.

Ahmedabad: Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecom service providers has collaborated with Indian Railways to set up India’s a Free Wi-Fi zone at Ahmedabad Railway station, Kalupur.

Vodafone’s free Wi-Fi zone has been created on Platform No.1 of the Ahmedabad railway station situated at Kalupur area. Vodafone’s free Wi-Fi zone is network agnostic and any mobile phone user can avail of this benefit, regardless of which telecom service provider they are aligned with.
