Railway Minister participates in International Yoga Day Celebrations at Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways joined Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N.Chandrababu Naidu to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations organized by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh at A-Convention Centre, Vijayawada today i.e. 21st June, 2016.

The Yoga Day celebrations, which saw a huge participation of  citizens from all walks of life, including students was marked by performance of various yogic asanas, led by professional yoga practitioners. The Railway Minister too joined gathering in performing all the yoga asanas.

Later, addressing the participants, Suresh Prabhu emphasized on the need for practicing yoga to maintain health and lead stress free life. By practicing Yoga mind, body & soul will come together which makes human being a perfect personality. The society will be immensely benefitted by practicing yoga regularly, he added. The initiative of Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in making the International Yoga Day celebrations, a annual affair shows his far sightedness in taking the country and the people forward on the path of nation development.

The Railway Minister appreciated the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for inculcating practice of yoga in the state in a determined manner and leading by example. This is the beginning of a process towards a positive society, the minister stated.

Suresh Prabhu was felicitated with a memento by the Hon’ble CM of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion. Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, South Central Railway & Ashok Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division also participated in the International Yoga Day.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu spelt the plans of Railways to develop rail infrastructure and stated that railways will provide all logistical support to states for the purpose. India is poised for growth under the able leadership of Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and best possible synergy is needed to attain the goal. He was all praise for Andhra Pradesh and stated that the State is progressing fast. Railways are tuned to partner this progressive path of the state he added. The long coastline of Andhra Pradesh hold potential for enhancing rail infra, and multi modal logistics projects are planned to attain this purpose, he opined.

N.Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in his speech said that the newly carved state of Andhra Pradesh needs to be developed further, industrially and economically. He expressed confidence that Railways will contribute its might by developing and strengthening the Rail Network in the state. The state will develop as a crucial logistical hub in India with its strategic location and long coast line. The Chief Minister also said that the Govt. of AP will sign a MoU for a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in months time to develop rail infrastructure in the state.

Earlier, Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, South Central Railway in his welcome address stated that SCR is focused on delivering a qualitative service to its customers by continuously expanding its network and services. The flagging off of the new Vijayawada-Secunderabad Intercity Superfast Express, laying of foundation stone for Doubling of Guntakal-Kalluru Railway Line and Multi Modal Logistics Park at Krishnapatnam in SPSR Nellore district is bound to significantly strengthen rail infra in Andhra Pradesh. He acknowledged the support and advise of  the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in formulating the development plans in AP.

The newly flagged off train is the first ever single stop (Guntur) superfast service between Vijayawada-Secunderabad and the first non-stop service between Guntur-Secunderabad. The train, which will run six days a week (except Sundays) offers excellent convenience and comes as a much awaited need for a cross section of rail users including the anticipated demands of State Govt. employees travelling from Amaravati area to Hyderabad & back.

The train (Train No. 12796)  Secunderabad-Vijayawada intercity superfast express will depart Secunderabad at 05:30 hrs with effect from 21st June, 2016, arrive/depart Guntur at 10:08/10:10 hrs and arrive Vijayawada at 11:00 hrs on the same day. In the opposite direction, the train (Train No. 12795) Vijayawada-Secunderabad Superfast express will depart Vijayawada at 17:30 hrs with effect from 22nd June, 2016, arrive/depart Guntur at 18:20/18:22 hrs and arrive Secunderabad at 23:10 hrs on the same day.

The doubling of Guntakal – Kalluru railway line (41 kms), sanctioned in the Rail Budget 2015-16 at a cost of Rs 323 Crs along with electrification will lend a significant boost to rail infrastructure in Anantapur and adjoining areas of Andhra Pradesh, facilitating faster movement of passenger and freight carrying trains in this heavily congested section, including in the direction of Bengaluru.

The Multi Multi Modal Logistics Park at Krishnapatnam being developed by CONCOR (Container Corporation of India Limited) is an offshoot of the MoU signed with Govt. of Andhra Pradesh to handle international and domestic container freight traffic. Coming up in an area of 140 acres near to Krishnapatnam Port, the logistics park will enable seamless handling of containerized traffic of exports & imports besides movement of domestic cargo.

RailTel launches HD Immersive Video Conferencing service TPaSS

Vijayawada: RailTel launched the state of the art HD Video Conferencing Service- Telepresence as a Service (TPaSS) for the Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Department at Vijayawada, in the august presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Hon’able Minister of Irrigation of AP, Shri Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, Regional General Manager, RailTel, Shri P.V.Sreekant,Cisco VP Shri Vikram Kumar, Project Manager, Wipro, Shri Venu Gopal, Engineer-in-Chief, Chief Engineers of AP were also present during the event.

RailTel earlier got the Work Order from AP State Water Resources Department for Installation & Commissioning of Cisco’s Telepresence Studios IX 5200 each at Jalasoudha, CM’s Camp Office/Vijayawada, integration with SX 20 in all 13 Districts in AP, in which Wipro is the SI (deal value INR 5,67,19,894/-), through the tendering process.

This project pertains to Water Resources Department wherein it was earlier proposed for installation and commissioning of Cisco’s Immersive Telepresence Studios IX 5200, one each at Jala Soudha, Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh CM’s Camp Office at Vijayawada and integrating with Cisco’s SX 20 in all the 13 district HQs of APWRD.

Andhra Pradesh is the first State Government to deploy such latest equipment in the country. RailTel has connected all the district head quarters of AP & Irrigation HQ at Jalasoudha, Hyderabad with Optical Fibre Network and installed latest state of the art video conference technology called Immersive Tele-Presence. The solution provided to Irrigation Department of AP included setting up of CISCO IX-5200 Tele-Presence studios & the installation of 18 seater immersive CISCO IX-5200 Tele-Presence at Jalasoudha, Hyderabad & APWRD office, Vijayawada. At all the district HQs, CISCO SX-20 Tele Presence equipment with all other end points have been installed.

The immersive Tele Presence solution offered would enhance the productivity of Irrigation department by reducing the travel spend and improving work/life balance. It will allow the department to take prompt decisions as even hand held mobile devices can join multi-party immersive conference in real-time, independent of location.

AP irrigation department plans to use RailTel’s Tele Presence platform for their online SCADA application and water management through smart grid. Chief Minister, during his 3 hour long conference, elucidated the need to exploit technology to effectively utilize water resources in the newly formed state.

RailTel, with its partners M/s Wipro Limted and M/s Cisco, has completed the project within 3 months.

Vijayawada: Even as Union Ministry of Urban Development raised doubts over the feasibility of Vijayawada Metro Rail, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu requested E.Sreedharan, former CMD/DMRC and Advisor for various Metro Rail projects in the State, to ensure that it starts taking shape at the earliest.

“Funding is not a problem, he said, as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is keen on extending financial assistance to them”, Mr. Naidu said in a meeting with the Metro Man in Hyderabad on Friday.  On the Viability Gap Analysis, he mentioned that MUD’s report was based on certain parameters.

However once the State Capital starts functioning from Amaravati – the newly announced Capital of Andhra Pradesh, then Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali corridor including the suburbs like Mangalagiri, Nuzivid etc will form part of Amaravathi Capital Region and hence the scope and viability of the Metro Rail project will get scaled up to 10-12 times than the current analysis by MUD, he added.

During a detailed discussion on Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro railway projects, Mr.Naidu said that Mr.Sreedharan, who was former MD of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, could visit places like Istanbul where public transportation has been revolutionized by metro rail projects and probably replicate the best practices back home.

Mr.Naidu wanted first phase of Visakhapatnam project to be completed by the end of 2018 and the one planned for Vijayawada launched at the earliest.

Mr.Sreedharan and his team were asked to prepare a process chart for regular monitoring and to take care of logistical issues that might derail the projects.

Since metro rail projects were cost-effective means of transportation in the coming years, A.P. Government attached due priority to them and looked forward to experts like Mr.Sreedharan to chip in with their expertise, Mr.Naidu added.

During his three-day visit to Japan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will make a strong pitch for investments in Andhra Pradesh.  He will spend a day at the 9th World Congress on High-Speed Rail-2015 at Tokyo to understand about the evolving High Speed Rail Technologies and its associated industry, and will discuss with the representatives of High Speed Rail and Bullet Train manufacturing Companies for investment in Vizag, Tada and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh

Tokyo: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had christened the new capital city of the State after ancient Buddhist town Amaravati with an intention to woo investors from Buddhist countries, has made an all-out attempt on Monday to persuade Japanese business giants to invest in the reorganised State.

Naidu held talks with some of the leading Japanese corporations including Mitsubishi and Fuji Electric and Japanese International Cooperation Agency for potential cooperation.

Mitsubishi expressed interest to set up Japan Information and Study Centre at Andhra University. This Centre will promote Japanese language courses and introduce locals to the Japanese culture. The Mitsubishi team evinced interest in taking part in the Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridor and Krishnapatnam industrial node.

It was reliably learnt that Mitsubishi agreed to set up a cluster near Krishnapatnam, bringing in all their subsidiaries to one place and importantly setting up of the Mitsubishi’s newly launched Traction Inverter All SiC-Power Module manufacturing plant at Krishnapatnam to cater for Asia-Pacific region from the east coast of Andhra Pradesh, as part of Make in India policy.

The Chief Minister is also expected to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to invite him to take part in the foundation stone laying ceremony of new capital city, scheduled to take place on October 22.

According to sources, Naidu already took the clearance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend invitation to the Japanese Premier for the grand function, which will be graced by Modi himself.

On Monday, Naidu will be meeting representatives of Fuji Electric Co., Ltd, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Mayekawa, Sumitomo Corporation, Mizuho Bank, Ltd, which is the integrated retail and corporate banking unit of Mizuho Financial Group.

On Tuesday, he is expected to hold confabulations with the top brass of SoftBank Group Corporation, which is a Japanese multinational telecommunications and Internet corporation, and Mizuho Financial Group, which is one of the prominent financial institutions in the world. Followed by this, Naidu is expected to visit world’s most important meeting for high-speed rail ‘UIC High-Speed Rail 2015′ being held at Tokyo from 7th to 10th July, 2015 and expected to meet more than 1,000 attendees from across the globe to exchange views on the development and achievements of high-speed rail worldwide.  It is learnt that the World Congress on High Speed Rail 2015 will feature international rail experts on transportation policy and technology. It will bring the public and private sectors together to provide insight and identify best practices for implementing high-speed rail projects at every stage – from planning, financing, and construction, to operations and management. Also, the Congress will feature an exhibit showcasing high-speed rail products and services.

During the tour, Naidu will clinch several key deals with the Japanese companies in order to set up their branches in AP. “Mizuho Financial Group is likely to enter into an agreement with the AP government to provide its services to the State to transform it into an industrial hub,” an official said.  Tokyo-based NEC Corporation, a multinational provider of information technology services and products, is expected to make an agreement with the AP Technology Services Limited (APTS) to provide IT solutions to the State government’s efforts to develop smart cities in the State. Naidu is also expected to call on Japanese Finance Minister in order to seek loans from the Japanese financial institutions for construction of the new capital city. In fact, seeking to promote Japanese investments in AP, Chief Minister Naidu during his earlier visit to Japan promised the investors in that country that his government would set up dedicated industrial townships and clusters for Japanese citizens comprising in AP. He also told them that Japanese schools would also be set up in the State.

“Make AP as a destiny for Japanese investments, build another Tokyo in new capital region of AP there you have so many opportunities. I want to do business most efficiently and for that I am assuring you ease of doing business through speedier clearances, infrastructure and good governance,” Naidu told a Japanese delegation during its recent tour to Hyderabad.

Besides a battery of top officials from the State government, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana are accompanying Naidu during his visit.

HYDERABAD: After visualising Andhra Pradesh’s new capital, Amaravati, on the lines of Singapore city, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu now wants to develop it like Chinese financial capital Shanghai.

Naidu, who returned to Hyderabad on Saturday from China after crisscrossing the Communist nation for almost a week, vowed to set up ultra-modern infrastructure facilities in Amaravati to make it outdo Shanghai in every manner.

Briefing reporters about his China tour at the Secretariat here on Saturday, a highly enthusiastic Naidu, who seems to have been carried away by the development and the beauty of Shanghai, said he was very impressed with the infrastructure and development of Shanghai and wanted that kind of development in Amaravati also.

“I want to replicate the model adopted in Shanghai in Amaravati. The new capital city should be a world-class one with ultra-modern facilities like Shanghai,” he said. Stating that 90 per cent of the 500 Fortune companies set up their units in China due to the infrastructure available there, Naidu said, “If we create such facilities in the new capital, those companies would also come there.”

“There is a possibility of all the top companies of the world coming to Amaravati, if we create adequate infrastructure and investor-friendly policies in the State,” he added.

Expressing the need to construct speed train tracks, which are in Shanghai, in the State, Naidu said connectivity is important for the growth of the State. Since railways is one of the major source of connectivity, there is a need to develop speed train tracks in the State, he added.

“In Shanghai, speed train travels about 1,750 km in just five to five-and-half hours. We should also have such speed tracks in our State. I would take up the issue with railway ministry,” he said. According to Naidu, China had constructed 65 per cent of the world’s speed train tracks in last 10 years and this had helped it a lot in developing its economy.

“This year, China has set a target for construction of 5,000 km speed train tracks. This itself shows the capability of them in this sector,” he said. Stating that China has a focused approach towards all sectors, Naidu said his government would try to adopt that kind of approach in the State for the over-all development of all sectors.

Giving details of China’s ambitious project “One Road-One Belt”, Naidu said China was investing 1,600 billion dollars on this project, which would connect all the continents across the globe. “We should also think on this line. Then only we would be able to develop fast,” he said. He said during his visit to China his delegation had discussions with various government and private companies on sectors such as infrastructure, industries, urban development, tourism, higher education, irrigation, agriculture, IT, hardware and other major sectors.

“I have told them (Chinese firms) that lot of opportunities are waiting for them in

AP. We have natural resources, human resources and other facilities for setting up projects in the State. We have assured them of all possible help for investment,” he said.
