PAPERLESS TICKETING FACILITY EXTENDED TO COVER THE ENTIRE SUBURBAN NETWORK OF CHENNAI


Southern Railway has successfully expanded the facility of Paperless Ticket o­n Mobile which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Railway Minister o­n the 22nd of April, 2015.  This facility is now available for suburban ticket booking over the entire network which extends from Chennai Beach to Gummidipoondi, Chennai Beach to Tiruvallur, Chennai Beach to Velachery and Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu.  Passengers having the ùtsonmobile app’ o­n their smart phones will now be able to book their suburban journey tickets from any station to any station o­n the suburban network and carry the ticket o­n their phones. 

Passengers who have booked suburban tickets through this app. must o­n demand show their tickets, available o­n their phones, to the ticket checking staff.  Otherwise they will be treated as travelling without ticket.  With this, the Mobile Ticketing Application is fully functional and will issue paperless tickets o­nly.  For more details o­n the application, please visit www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in 

 Chennai is the first city to have this facility o­n Indian Railways and this is the first step towards the Hon’ble Railway Minister’s initiative of Ã’peration Five Minutes’.

'OPERATION FIVE MINUTE' BY W.RLY MUMBAI DIVISION 8 EXACT FARE COUNTERS AT 5 STATIONS STARTED
                                                                         
Under the ambitious project of OPERATION FIVE MINUTES to facilitate commuters of Suburban section in getting tickets within maximum five minutes, W.Rly's Mumbai Division has started 8 "Exact Fare Counters" at the following 05 stations over suburban section w.e.f Saturday 18th April, 2015.

1)Churchgate – Window No. 10

2)Dadar - Window No. 05 South West

3)Dadar – Window No. 15 PRS bldg

4)Bandra – Window No. 06 South West

5)Andheri – Window No. 02 Middle West

6)Andheri  - Window No. 22 East Booking

7)Borivali  - Window No. 08 Middle West

8)Borivali – Window No. 35 North West

 The special features of these windows are as under:


  • Exact fare  of Rs. 5/- & Rs. 10/- ticket o­nly from each window


  • No other ticket issued from this counter


In order to make it more effective following has been planned: 

1.Staff deployment for a few days to create awareness.

2.Placing sign boards o­n these counters and in booking office and approach path in a strategic manner so that the moment passenger enters the concourse area he is aware about the specific windows. Learning from these five locations will come handy to plan similar initiative from other major suburban and non – suburban stations in due course of time.
