RAILWAY HELPLINE NUMBERS 138 & 182 TO BE MERGED INTO A SINGLE NUMBER 139 TO ACCOMPLISH THE MISSION OF o­nE RAIL o­nE HELPLINE

Railway Help line number 138 and security Helpline number 182 will be merged into RailMadad Help line 139 from 1,April 2021 for providing assistance to various queries and problems of the rail users.From 1.4.2021 rail users need to dial a single number 139 for different types of queries  related to Security,Medical Assistance, Accident Information, Train Complaint, Station complaint,Vigilance information,Freight/Parcel enquiry,General inquiry etc.

However,only front end of 138 and 182 will be done away with.All medical and Security emergency calls received o­n RailMadad Help line 139 would continue to be transferred to Divisions for immediate intervention.

From 1.4.2021,only RailMadad Help line 139, RailMadad website www.railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in   and RailMadad app will be available in all communication emanating from all Zonal Railway through electronic and non electronic means.

Earlier,rail users were to dial different numbers for mitigation of different types of queries and problems.Now the rail users will have to dial o­nly o­ne number o­n log in o­ne app /website for highlighting there issues /grievances for expeditious mitigation by Railways.

AIRF wants Konkan Railway to be merged with Indian Railways

MARGAO: The All India Railmen Federation (AIRF) members on Monday demanded that the Konkan Railway be merged with the Indian Railways and castigated the government for its attempts to intimidate and interfere in the functioning of the railway staff and their unions.

At the AIRF meeting held in Margao, the workers unanimously demanded that the Konkan Railway be merged with the Indian Railways. The demand was earlier made on October 31, 2015 at Jodpur in the presence of the Union Railway Minister.

Speaking to media persons, AIRF president Rakhal Das Gupta said, “The merger will improve the working conditions of the Konkan Railway workers and also that of the railway system under the corporation.”

However, he dismissed the suggestion that railway stations under Konkan Railway were cleaner and better maintained than the Indian Railways. He insisted that the conditions at the Konkan Railway stations were not on par with those at the Indian Railways.

Besides, the Federation also castigated the government for its attempts to intimidate and interfere in the functioning of the railway workers’ unions.

“The government is trying to dictate to us as to who should be elected as managing committee members, which is totally unacceptable,” he said.

KRCL study tour for drivers

Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) recently organised a study tour for autorickshaw and tourist taxi drivers of Mulki to help them learn about places of interest.

It was organised by KRCL’s Mangaluru Public Relations Manager K. Sudha Krishnamurthy following an instruction from Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, a release here said.

As many as 50 drivers participated in the tour, which included Moodbidri, Karkala and surrounding places.

Siemens, Bombardier in early talks to merge rail business

German engineering group Siemens and Canada’s Bombardier are in early talks to merge their rail businesses, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter

The paper said Bombardier was also in talks with other possible partners.

Both Siemens and Bombardier declined to comment on the report.

The news comes some months after Siemens downplayed the idea that it could combine its rail assets, which include trains, trams and signaling technology, with those of France’s Alstom.

Bombardier outlined plans in May to list a minority stake in its rail unit, headquartered in Germany, as the train making sector consolidates to compete on major rail infrastructure projects across the globe.

A merger with peers such as Germany’s Siemens or France’s Alstom could also be considered, sources familiar with the matter said at the time.
