Secunderabad: Passengers of local trains across India will now be able to see train schedules on their mobiles. RailYatri today launched the first pan-India app for local train commuters, covering local trains at the top 11 destinations across India. The app shows the next available local train at any given point in time.

With this, RailYatri app has the largest network of trains covering all local and national trains, a company release said. Commuters can now get information about more than 13,000 local and long distance trains within one app.

Neglected section

Manish Rathi, co-founder and CEO, RailYatri.in said: “Despite the fact that between 28 and 35 per cent of the population in every metro city commutes by local trains, not much attention has been paid towards this mode of transport. Hence, we decided to bridge the gap and make local train commuters’ lives simpler.”

Take for instance, in Hyderabad, the app allows users to access information about 170 local trains within the city. The network covers more than 85 local stations in Hyderabad till Secunderabad, Alwal, Ramannapet, Shankarpalli, Vishnupuram, Begumpet and Tandur being the routes with major traffic.

How to use

Users can click on the ‘Local Trains’ feature from the main menu. The app displays the next three trains going towards your destination station.

Users can also see all trains going towards the destination station. RailYatri app can be downloaded for free from the Google Playstore. The app is also available for Nokia and Windows users.

RailYatri app, an exclusive feature to make train trip planning easier for travellers in India, launched. The feature titled ‘Seat Availability/Forecast’ allows users to make informed bookings on Wait Listed (WL) tickets by checking the confirmation history on that train. It allows users to select the train which has the highest probability of getting a confirmed ticket.
Wait-listed tickets result when demand exceeds the number of available seats. Such travellers cannot travel until their tickets are confirmed, which happens only when travellers with confirmed tickets cancel their reservations.

The seat availability forecast by RailYatri.in helps in making the entire train trip planning process smoother and convenient for train travellers. It helps users compare train schedules that have a higher probability of getting confirmed, assess the risks of booking a wait-listed seat ticket and plan the trip accordingly.

RailYatri team says that seat availability with forecast feature will reduce a train traveller’s ordeal to a large extent, as one can plan ahead and will not have to make last minute arrangements.
