Indian Railways has decided that for all trains notified to run, the advance reservation period (ARP) shall be increased from 30 days to 120 days

Booking of Parcel and luggage shall also be permitted.

Train No.82602 Tirunelveli – Chennai Egmore Suvidha special train will leave Tirunelveli at 14.45 hrs. o­n 5th March, 2017 and reach Chennai Egmore at 03.45 hrs. the next day.

 Train No.82631 Chennai Central – Ernakulam Jn. Suvidha special train will leave Chennai Central at 22.30 hrs. on 3.3.2017 and reach Ernakulam at 10.45 hrs. the next day.
Train No.82632 Ernakulam Jn. – Chennai Central Suvidha special train will leave Ernakulam Jn. at 19.00 hrs. on 5.3.2017 and reach Chennai Central at 07.20 hrs. the next day.

CHANGES IN RESERVATION on INTERNET THROUGH IRCTC

Kolkata, Feb.5, 2016 :

In order to facilitate genuine users and prevent touting activities, various checks have already been put in place for the booking of e-ticket/i-ticket o­n IRCTC website.

To further prevent any possible misuse, Ministry of Railways has now decided that effective from 15th February, 2016, a maximum of 6 tickets can be booked online by an individual user in a month on IRCTC website. This will replace the existing system under which a maximum of 10 tickets can be bookd o­nline through IRCTC website in a month by an individual. However, the existing condition will continue wherein these booking will be subject to a limit of booking 2 opening Tatkal tickets in 10:00-12:00 hours period in a day and 2 opening Advance Reservation Period(ARP) tickets in 08:00-10:00 hours period in a day.

This has been done keeping in view the analysis of usage of quota of 10 tickets which indicated that 90% of users are booking upto 6 tickets in a given month and only 10% are making more than 6 tickets.  It is suspected that the 10% users might be involved in touting activities.  Therefore to deter such touts and to facilitate genuine users, it has been decided that a maximum of 6 tickets can be booked by an individual user in a month.

The Ministry of Railways has decided to increase the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking accommodation in trains from 60 days to 120 days (excluding the date of journey). Accordingly, w.e.f. 1st April 2015 the booking in trains from train originating stations will open and remain available for 120 days. For instance, as on 1.4.2015, for trains leaving o­n 28th July 2015, the reservation can be obtained for journey commencing on all days between 1.4.2015 upto 28.7.2015. 

There will, however, be no change in case of certain day time Express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express; special trains etc, where lower time limits for advance reservations are at present in force. There will also be no change in the case of the limit of 360 days for foreign tourists.

Advance booking period for Train tickets reduced to 60 days

New Delhi: Indian Railways has reduced advance booking period from four months to two months from May 1 as part of its efforts to prevent touts from cornering bulk of tickets.

The advance reservation period (ARP) for booking reserved train tickets will be reduced from existing 120 days to 60 days (excluding the date of journey) from May 1, according to a Railway notification issued today.

However, all the bookings done up to April 30 under the existing ARP of 120 days will remain intact.

“The reduction of advance reservation period to 60 days will be a deterrent for touts who book bulk tickets in advance. We hope the reduction of booking period will help genuine travellers,” a senior Railways official said.

“It has been found that passengers generally book their tickets two months in advance before the journey,” the official said.

However, cancellation of the booking made beyond the ARP of 60 days will be permitted. There will be no change in the case of ARP limit of 360 days for foreign tourists.

Currently, tatkal tickets are issued only on the production of self-attested photocopy of a valid identity proof. No agents are allowed to book tatkal tickets from 10 am to 12 pm over the internet.

Railways conduct regular raids at rail stations to keep a check on tout menace.
