Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Govt. of India dedicated to the nation a number of projects of Eastern, South Eastern, Metro Railway in a programme held at Howrah station New complex today (10.06.2017). Shri Prasun Banerjee, Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) was also present on the occasion.
on this occasion, Shri Prabhu, Hon’ble MR dedicated to the nation the following projects and passenger amenities work of Eastern, South Eastern and Metro Railway:
Eastern Railway: Dedication to the Nation- 1) Double-line between Beldanga and Cossimbazar in Sealdah Division, 2) 3rd line between Gadadharpur and Tarapith Road stations in Howrah Division, 3) Foot Overbridges at 10 stations on Sealdah and Asansol Divisions, 4) PRS at Panagarh Military Campus of Asansol Division and UTS at Karjana station of Howrah Division, 5) Escalator at Ballygunge station of Sealdah Division, 6) 2 x 50 KWP Solar Plant at Howrah area and 7) LED lights at 175 stations over Eastern Railway.
South Eastern Railway:Dedication/Upgradation/ Installation of- 1) Keshabpur-Mahisahdal (8.5 kms) of Tamluk-Basulya Sutahata Doubling with Electrification, 2) Garh Jaipur station from Halt to full fledged station and commissioning of UTS, 3) Foot overbridge at Biramdih, 4) Water Vending Machines at Adra, Purulia, Bankura, and Bokaro Steel City stations, 5) 3 Nos. of ATMs at Bankura, Purulia and Adra, 6) AC lounge at Digha station, 7) Santragachi – Amta section to run 12-car EMU rake in place 9-car rake and 8) Full length platform shelters at 12 ‘C’ category stations in Howrah – Kharagpur section.
Metro Railway: 1) Inauguration of one additional escalator at Rabindra Sarobar Metro station, and 2) Commencement of work for underground Metro station at Esplanade of East-West Corridor.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble MR informed that more investment is required for more infrastructure in Railways to cope with the ever increasing number of passengers and demand of the people. Last year 810 crore people travelled in Railways. The present infrastructure must be augmented in a big way to cope with this huge volume of passengers. A total of Rs.3.75 lakh crores have been invested for infrastructure development in Railways during the last 3 years.
Minister of Railways also informed that Rs.17,000 crore have been sanctioned for ‘Kolkata – Delhi’ and ‘Delhi – Mumbai’ route to develop these routes as ‘integrated semi-high speed corridors’ for running trains at a speed up to 200 km per hour.
He also added that 16,500 kms of doubling and tripling have been done during last three years. It is a pleasure to inform that Rs.6336 crores have been sanctioned in 2017-18 for development & infrastructure of Railways in West Bengal. Shri Prabhu also formally released a Booklet on ‘ACHIEVEMENTS OF RAILWAYS IN THE STATE OF WEST BENGAL’ in last 3 Years. Besides,all the General Managers of Zonal Railways have been given more powers for speedy implementation of the ongoing & new projects, the MR added.
Shri Prasun Banerjee, Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) also spoke on the occasion.
S. N. Agrawal, General Manager, South Eastern Railway delivered the welcome address. Shri Vishwesh Chaubey, General Manager Metro Railway and Shri Satish Kumar, Addl. General Manager, Eastern Railway were also present on the occasion. Shri Manu Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Eastern Railway, Howrah gave the vote of thanks.
