Rail Minister recommends 13 Modern Ambulances for Andhra under MPLAD

Vijayawada: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has written to the Collector of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh to buy 13 ambulances equipped with advanced life support system under the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme.

The minister has also asked the Krishna District Collector to clear the grant within 45 days.

The total cost of 13 ambulances is estimated to be about Rs 2.86 crore, according to the letter written by Suresh Prabhu to the Krishna district collector.

Each ambulance will have ventilator with advance life support system, oxygen cylinder, monitor, accessories and other requirements and is estimated to cost about Rs 22 lakh.

A Rajya Sabha MP can recommend works in one or more districts in the state from where he or she has been elected.

Under the scheme, the MP has the choice to suggest to the district collector for works to the tune of Rs five crores per year to be taken up in his/her constituency.

Prabhu was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh after his Upper House term from Haryana got over recently.
