BIO-TOILET FITTED COACHES OF RAMESWARAM EXPRESS FLAGGED OFF
Bhubaneswar-Rameswaram-Bhubaneswar Express via Visakhapatnam fitted with Boi-Toilets in all 23 coaches has been flagged off today at Bhubaneswar Railway Station by a Technician Grade Employee of East Coast Railway Shri G. Appa Rao who will be retiring this month in presence of Shri S. K. Choudhury, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager and all senior officers of Khurda Road Railway Division.
As the train is connecting important tourist destinations, it has aptly been decided for its conversion as “Green Train” by providing all its coaches with Bio-Toilets for a greener & Cleaner India. This train is a great initiative towards fulfilling the objectives of “Swachh Bharat Mission”.
Green toilet aims at Zero-defecation on to the ground, is environment-friendly, prevents damages to the track due to corrosion and no bad smell in toilets from the tanks, no infection of cockroaches and flies, effluent is free from odour and solid waste, no maintenance required, reduction in organic matter by 90% and no need for removal of solid waste.
East Coast Railway General manager had earlier this month fixed the target date of 30th November, 2015, for operationalisation of this Green Train.
