Hyderabad Metro to acquire more properties for Right of Way
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited is at advanced stage of acquisition of about 81 properties aimed at providing right of way for the construction of the 72-km-long elevated metro rail project.
At a Special Task Force meeting conducted by the Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, the acquisition of properties and right of way issues were addressed while seeking to expedite the project implementation.
NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail limited, in a detailed presentation on the decisions of previous Special task Force meeting, informed that most of the Right of Way issues have been sorted out.
Other than the Transstroy building in Jubilee Hills, the remaining critical properties have either been acquired or are in the final stage of being acquired. The front portions of Rak Ceramics and Meenakshi Jewellery buildings have been demolished and Padmahamsa apartment in Secunderabad is at award stage.
While 81 properties are in different stage of acquisition, they are mostly meant for road widening to facilitate better traffic movement in the Metro corridors.
Making use of continuous holidays during the recent festival period, five critical foundations between the Mosque property, Punjagutta and NIMS have also been completed.
Apart from granting more sites for the Concessionaire L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited, the TS Southern Power Distribution Company Limited was directed to expedite the required clearances for enabling the metro to execute the Metro Rail corridors.
Meanwhile, the issue of alignment change of the metro in at least three locations is also at advanced stage of finalisation.
