INAUGURATION OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT ROOM IN OPERATING BRANCH OF SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY, GADAG ROAD, HUBLI BY Shri P.K. SAXENA, GM/SWR TODAY

Disaster Management Room attached to Headquarters Central Control of SWR situated in Operating Branch, II Floor, East Block, New Zonal HQ Office building, Gadag Road, Hubli was inaugurated by unveiling the Plaque today (14th Oct. 2015) by Shri Pradeep Kumar Saxena, General Manager, South Western Railway in the presence of Shri P. Ganeswara Rao, Chief Operations Manager, SWR, Shri N.K. Gupta, Chief Safety Officer, SWR and other Principal Heads ofDepartment Officials ofSWR.

While welcoming General Manager and other Principal Heads of Departments of SWR, Shri P. Ganeswara Rao,Chief Operations Manager, SWR said “Disaster Management Room” is equipped with Telephone communication, PC with internet, Wi-fi, LED TV, and copies of all Rule books and manuals.Road Maps of the States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra and Goa, System Map, Disaster Management Plan, Time Tables are also displayed. Besides, he also said that Emergency Contact Numbers of concerned Civil authorities, Police, Road Transport and Revenue authorities are also displayed prominently for easy contact in case of any requirement of assistance.

By observing all the equipments and facilities provided in the Disaster Management Room, Shri P.K. Saxena, GM/SWR appreciated the good work done by Shri P. Ganeswara Rao, COM and his team of officials, Signal & Telecom. Department and Engineering department.He said at present, all the Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) over South Western Railway are provided with a Video camera and the visuals can be transmitted through the Satellite which can be viewed in Disaster Management Room through the PC/LED TV.He stated that this Room would facilitate the officers who are camped at Disaster Management Room in monitoring the relief and rescue operations in an effective way since the developments from the accident site can be viewed live for better appreciation.With the provision of these facilities, co-ordination and management of accident situations will improve, Shri Saxena opined.A General Rules for Indian Rules Book (1976) with subsidiary Rules & Appendix ofSWR-2014 was released by Shri P.K. Saxena, GM/SWR on the occasion.Shri Saxena also announced a Cash award of Rs.15,000/- for the excellent work done from the safety point of view to the Officers and Staff of Operating Department of SWR.
