Confirmed Sabotage: Alert Train Driver averts Mishap as 50-cm Track goes Missing

50 cm rail track missing near Lucknow, train mishap averted. Sabotage bid puts police on high alert.

Track chopped off near MohanlalganjMohanlalGanj (MLJ): A major train mishap was on Friday averted near Mohanlalganj on the outskirts of Lucknow due to the alertness of Prayag-Lucknow passenger train driver when he noticed 50-cm rail track missing.
“The train started from Kankaha railway station and at 2-58 a.m. near Mohanlalganj, the train driver felt that something hit fuel tank, before the place where the track was tampered with.

He immediately stopped the train, thus averting a major accident,” Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, A.K. Lahoti said.

Just 100 mts ahead

After the train driver informed the station master, railway officials rushed to the spot and found that 50-cm track was cut and the portion was found 100 metres away from the track, he said.

Meanwhile, railways have ordered a departmental inquiry into the possibility of sabotage.
