CRS INQUIRY INTO THE LOCAL TRAIN DERAILMENT BETWEEN ANDHERI & VILE PARLE TO BE HELD o­n 18th & 21st September, 2015

 Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has decided to hold a statutory inquiry into the incident of Virar - Churchgate local train derailment between Andheri & Vile Parle occurred on 15th September, 2015.  The inquiry will be held o­n 18th September, 2015 & 21st September, 2015 from 11.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs in the office of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Mumbai Central. Members of the Public and Railway Staff having any information or knowledge or details about the accident and matters connected are requested to volunteer to depose before the Commissioner or may send the details to the office of Commissioner of Railway Safety, Western Circle, Second Floor, Churchgate Station Building Annexe, Maharshi Karve Road, Mumbai 400 020 or Fax on 022 - 22034351 or contact in person o­n Telephone No 022-22034351.

Meanwhile, the affected section between Andheri – Vile Parle was restored at around 8.30 am o­n 16th September, 2015. After the derailment of 7 coaches of Virar-Churchgate fast local o­n 15th September, 2015 at 11.03 hrs, two Accident Relief Trains loaded with equipments were moved to the site and 6 out of 7 coaches got rerailed. o­ne coach which was severely damaged and could not be rerailed was shifted aside using a heavy duty crane.

The down fast line was opened o­n the evening of 15th September, 2015 and Mail/Express trains and Fast suburban trains were worked o­n this line to ease passenger crowd. During night it was again closed for crane operations to shift 7th derailed coach. However, the signal system at derailment site o­n fast corridor is still affected, causing a delay of around 10 minutes, which will be rectified tonight.

Some long distance trains were rescheduled, while some trains were short terminated and reversed from Borivali for their return journey o­n 16th September, 2015. The details of these trains were intimated to public through WR's website, Twitter & Facebook, as well as through Press Release and Electronic media.  Around 100 suburban services were cancelled on 16th Sept 2015
