Mumbai Railway stations to get First Aid Clinics

Mumbai: In an attempt to provide immediate medical service to victims of train accidents, railway authority has decided to start first-aid clinics on Public Private Partnership (PPP) across major suburban stations in Mumbai and Thane.

Every year, more than 3,000 commuters lose their lives across the three suburban train lines in accidents during their travel. Out of the 3,000, half of the victims die due to inefficient and delayed medical treatment provided to them following the accident.

These first-aid clinics will provide free of cost medical service and treatment across stations like Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Goregaon, Andheri, Vile Parle, Santacruz, Bandra, Dadar, Mumbai Central, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane, Kalyan, Kopar, Diva, Karjat and Kasara.

A fully-equipped ambulance will also be a part of the first-aid clinics on these stations that will take the injured to the nearest hospital.

The railway board is currently working on the finance aspect of the PPP-model.
