GM/ER FLAGGED OFF STATE-OF-THE-ART NEW 12-COACH EMU RAKE AT HOWRAH STATION

Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway flagged off state-of-the-art new 12-coach EMU rake of Howrah – Bandel local at Howrah station this morning.

The salient features of this state-of-the-art new 12-coach EMU rake is as follows:

·Ergonomically designed injection molded poly carbonate fire retardant seats for better ambience & passenger comfort.

·Extensive use of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) panels in interiors to give pleasant ambience for the passengers.

·Electronic Head Code for display of Train No. & Destination.

·Public announcement system available.

·65W, 450 mm. sweep fans for better air flow.

·Light diffusers used inside the coach light to give improved lighting & pleasant experience.

·14 luggage racks in Motor coach and 18 luggage racks in Trailer coaches.

·Bigger window of size 1770 mm. x 870 mm.

·Air spring in secondary suspension for better riding quality. ·

·Skid proof chequered sheet flooring.

·Stainless steel grab handles & Grab poles.

DRIVING CREW CONVENIENCE:

·Driver desk area has been ergonomically designed to minimize driver’s fatigue.

·24” wide sunvisor has been provided o­n Guard & Driver side for sun light protection.

DESIGN AND SAFETY FEATURES:

·Side wall skin with special dull finish stainless steel sheet to avoid periodic paintings of side wall exterior.

·Aero dynamically designed FRP cab and cab skirt in motor coach which provides modern aesthetic appeal to the coach. ·

·Maximum use of Fire retardant FRP panels.

·Seating Capacity of 1228 passengers for 12 car rake.

·Max permissible speed 100 Kmph.

With the introduction of this rake, the journey of the local passengers will improve further in respect of comfort and safety. The design and the safety features have been done with most significantly to help the passengers to get more comfort.
