There is an increase in incidents of theft of passengers' belongings in long-distance trains as well as in Tamil Nadu Express and G T Express, the Rajya Sabha was told today.

Policing on railways is a state subject and prevention of crime, registration of cases, their investigation and maintenance of law and order are the responsibility of state governments which they discharge through Government Railway Police (GRP).
