Railway Minister Inspects Bangalore City Railway Station

Officials and staff at Bangalore City Railway Station were caught unawares as Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda decided to stop by unannounced on Sunday morning.

The Minister, who arrived at the station at 8.30 a.m. was there for an hour. He spoke to people and checked the facilities available. .

Mr. Gowda inspected passenger amenities, including the booking office, taps, escalators, food plaza, dormitory, paid lounge, toilets, emergency medical centre, reservation office and some catering outlets. He checked platforms 1, 7 and 8. The Minister noticed leaking taps and said the tracks along platform 1 should be kept clean.

Anil Kumar Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manger of Bangalore Division, said Mr. Gowda interacted with many people, including passengers and appreciated the digital charts, current reservation display system, free emergency care system, paid lounge, dormitory facilities and Internet booking facility for the retiring room.

He said the Minister was satisfied with the cleanliness at the station and catering facilities. Mr. Agarwal added, “It was a total surprise. We were unaware a check would be done.”
