Alert railway cops reunite runaway teen with kin

NAVI MUMBAI: A runaway schoolboy was reunited with his parents last week due to the alertness shown by two Railway Protection Force (RPF) cops attached to the Konkan Railways (KR). The rescued schoolboy is 14-year-old Akash, a class IX student at Kundapura in Karnataka.

KR's CPRO Girish Karandikar said, "The incident took place last week. Sub-inspector Santosh Gaonkar and constable Praveen K were conducting a drive in the general coach of Poorna Express from Ernakulum. Around 10am, they spotted Akash in school uniform. When asked why he was travelling alone, the boy gave vague replies. Suspecting that he was lying, the cops brought him to the RPF outpost."

The boy finally confessed that he had run away from his home to escape daily harassment by his father.
