Supreme Court rejects Indian Railways’ appeal by allowing passengers to Travel With Waiting Ticket In Train
The “Supreme Court” has rejected the “Indian Railways'” appeal of banning travelers having booked tickets online but is in the waiting list. Now, passengers with an online ticket under “Waiting List” will also be allocated seats as well as those passengers who have waiting ticket booked from the counter. This has helped the users who used to book tickets online to Travel With Waiting Ticket In Train.

Earlier, only the passengers with paper tickets on the waiting list were allowed to board the train if the passenger having confirmed tickets could not claim their seat/berth while passengers carrying E-ticket With Waiting List were disallowed from boarding the train. The e-ticket got automatically canceled in case of no confirmation.

A two-member committee headed by Justice “Madan B Lokur”, has rejected the plea of “Railway Ministry” who were challenging the Delhi High Court’s order of 2014. The order was cleared due to no lawyer was present from Railway board to defend their case. Therefore, the distinction for Travel On Waiting E-ticket was removed.

In 2014, the “Delhi High Court” asked the “Rail Ministry” to reduce the distinction of paper and e-ticket. They had six months to remove this distinction and they had also asked the rail ministry to assure that brokers and agents do not block the tickets by using fake credentials so that they can purchase paper tickets instead of traveling with Waiting E Ticket for extra money.

The “High Court”, has said in its statement that Travel On Waiting Ticket booked online is rejected in case of non-confirmation. In this situation, the strategies used by people to occupy seats is wasted. There is no provision for paper tickets to get more preference than an online ticket with the possibility that people with confirmed tickets may not board the train for some reason.

For any given train’s wait-listed status, Ixigo is now able to show the near accurate probability with which the ticket will confirm, so that travellers may decide whether or not to book a waitlisted ticket. PNR prediction feature also shows the probability of getting your ticket confirmed if already booked and solves a huge pain area for millions of daily train travellers. Ixigo’s trains & hotels App gives more accurate PNR prediction than all existing PNR prediction services since Ixigo has mined data from over 10 million PNRs over the last two years.
