Salient Features of Newly Constructed Rail Link (Amb Andaura -Chintpurni Marg)
Amb Andaura -Chintpurni Marg -Daulatpur Chauk block section ( about 16 km) is a part of Nangal Dam –Talwara New Railway Line. The Amb Andaura to Daulatpur Chauk section was certified fit for a maximum speed of 100 Kmph by Commissioner Railway Safety. This is fourth block section from Nangal Dam , which has been completed. The section from Nangal Dam to Amb Andaura station consisting of three block sections (about 44 Km) viz. Nangal dam - Una, Una - Churaru Takrala and Churaru Takrala - Amb Andaura had already been opened in past. With this new addition of 16 km stretch, the total route km completed so far is 60 km out of 83.74 KM.
The project was sanctioned vide pink book (budget) item 3 of 1982-83 at a cost of Rs.33.49 Crores from Nangal Dam to Talwara (83.74 Km) incuding Mukerian –Talwara section (29.16 Km.) The alignment of this project traverses in the sub mountainous region at the foot hills of lower Shivalik ranges in the state of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh for 23.5 Km and 60.3 Km respectively. It will provide and promote social economic development, generate employment opportunities for local people of HP and Punjab State by providing rail connectivity. This link will boost tourism in the state of Himachal Pradesh by giving connectivity to religious and tourist places . Finally, when commissioned up to Mukerian, on the Ambala Cant - Ludhiana, Jalandhar City/Jalandhar Cant - Pathankot - Jammu Tawi section, it will be alternative route to J&K State with strategic importance. The project has great significance for providing connections between Pathankot and Leh by a rail link.
Major quantities involved in Amb Andaura- Daulatpur section included about 15,75,000 cum earthwork (including blanketing), 52 nos. bridges consisting of 10 nos. PSC box girder bridges on well foundation (major), 21 nos minor bridges,14 nos. RUBs and 07 Nos. ROBs. Two new station buildings Chintpurni Marg and Daulatpur Chauk have also been constructed .
The ceremonial functions were held at Amb Andaura and Daulatpur Chauk Railway Stations. Addressing a large gathering present at both the venues, Shri Sinha said that the Railway is committed towards enhancing the quality of rail journeys and creating new benchmarks in convenience standards through transforming passenger experience. The new facilities mark the relentless efforts of Indian Railways to bring about a perceptible improvement in the passengers interface areas in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
