Safe working practices fetch laurels for Loco Pilots 

.On 28th November, 2018, Shri K.R.Abilash Babu, Loco Pilot and Shri.Ved Prakash Meena , Asst. Loco Pilot of a Goods Train (Erode) experience jerk while the train was running between Mecheri Road – Mettur Dam in Salem – Mettur Dam section of Salem Division around 10.50 hrs. Immediately, the Loco Pilots informed the Guard of the train and section engineers.The train was stopped the train at Mettur Dam, the next station.On receipt of information, the Section Engineer and team proceeded to the spot. A rail fracture was found.Subsequently, speed restriction was imposed in the section.After renewing cut rail Speed restriction was withdrawn and train operations resumed with normal sectional speed at 17 hrs o­n 29th November, 2018.

On 3rd December, 2018 around 6.30 hrs, while a Goods Train was running in Pettaivayatalai – Kulitalai section in Tiruchchirappalli – Karur section of Salem Division, the Loco Pilots Shri Niranjan Lal Meena, Loco Pilot and Shri. Kundan Kumar, Asst. Loco Pilot (Erode) experienced a heavy jerk and stopped the train at Kulitalai, the next station.Information was swiftly passed to the Station Master of Kulitalai and Section Engineers.Upon inspection of the tracks, the Section Engineer noticed a weld failure and imposed speed restriction in the section.The weld failure was immediately attended and tracks were restored.

On 8th December, 2018, around 18.35 hrs, the Motorman of Train No. 66607 Coimbatore-Palakkad Town Passenger Shri B.Ramesh Kumar experienced jerk while the train was passing Podanur-Madukarai section and stopped the train at Madukarai, the next station.The Station Master of Madukarai who received the information from the Motorman swiftly informed the Section Engineers.A weld fracture was noticed upon inspection by Section Engineer and speed restriction was imposed in the section to ensure safe train movement.Once the weld fracture was attendednormal sectional speed was restored o­n 9th December, 2018 at 14 hrs.

In recognition of the alertness and safe working of the above staff , Shri K.R.Abilash Babu, Loco Pilot and Shri.Ved Prakash Meena , Asst. Loco Pilot of a Goods Train (Erode), Shri Niranjan Lal Meena, Loco Pilot and Shri. Kundan Kumar, Asst. Loco Pilot (Erode) and Shri B.Ramesh Kumar, Motorman received awards and merit certification from Shri R.K.Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway.The General Manager lauded the loco pilots for their swift action and exemplary devotion to duty in ensuring safe train operations.
