Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake- Shiv Vihar Metro Corridor Flag Off

TRILOKPURI SANJAY LAKE - SHIV VIHAR METRO CORRIDOR FLAGGED OFF FOR PASSENGER OPERATIONS
The 17.8 kilometre long Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake – Shiv Vihar Metro corridor was formally flagged off today for passenger operations by Sh. Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing and Urban Affairs and Sh. Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, National Capital Territory of Delhi.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Sh. Puri said, “The journey that started in 2002 has passed the 300 kilometre mark today to reach 314 kilometres. The Metro project in Delhi is a global success.”
Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Manish Sisodia applauded the Delhi Metro for the opening of the section and said, “We see the wonders of civil engineering in the Delhi Metro. In a city like Delhi, it’s a wonder how the Metro has expanded through areas such as Chandni Chowk.”
Sh. Kailash Gahlot, the Transport Minister of Delhi congratulated the people of Delhi for the opening of the section and said,”DMRC’s name is taken with a lot of pride all over the country”. 
Member of Parliament, Sh. Manoj Tiwari also welcomed the beginning of operations on this section and said that it was a day of happiness for the people of north east Delhi.
DMRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Mangu Singh, in his welcome address, said that the Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake – Shiv Vihar Metro corridor was going to be the first ever Metro section of Phase 3 in the eastern part of the city. He also informed that the Delhi Metro was nearing completion of work on all the other major corridors and those sections would be opened in the coming months.
This 17.8   kilometre elevated section comprises of 15 elevated stations – Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake, East Vinod Nagar- Mayur Vihar- II , Mandawali- West Vinod Nagar, I.P. Extension, Anand Vihar ISBT, Karkardooma, Karkardooma Court, Krishna Nagar, East Azad Nagar, Welcome, Jaffrabad, Maujpur- Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar. 
The main highlight of this section will be the presence of three interchange stations - Anand Vihar (with Blue Line), Karkardooma (with Blue Line) and Welcome (with Red Line).  After the opening of this section the Delhi Metro network will become 314 kilometres long.
