For reducing the plastic pollution and conservation of environment, Eastern Railway has commissioned the first Bottle Crushing Machine at Malda Town station. The machine will crush a bottle in 60 secs. and has bin capacity of 10 kg which is equivalent to 500 Nos. of plastic bottles. The crushed materials or pallets can be recycled and used for manufacturing of dustbins, bags etc.
Moreover, Eastern Railway has arranged a unique incentive for the person who crush the bottle so that more &more number of people actively participate in reducing the plastic pollution. The person using this machine has to feed his mobile number and a SMS will be generated on his mobile indicating a code, which can be used via Paytm to redeem ₹5/- (2 times per person).
Such bottle crushing machines will be installed at Bhagalpur and other important stations of Eastern Railway soon.
