Railways to form JV with Rajasthan for infra development: Suresh Prabhu
JAIPUR: The Railways Ministry is looking at forming a joint venture with the Rajasthan government for developing rail infrastructure in the state, Union Minister Suresh Prabhu said today. 
Besides, he said, 24 stations of the state will be developed as model railway stations. 
"The Railways and the government of Rajasthan will be entering into a joint venture for developing railway infrastructure in the state," he said at the 'Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit' here. 
Under this, a company jointly owned by the Centre and States will be formed, he said, adding, it will develop infrastructure and look into issues that the States deem to be important. 
He further said the government is committed to provide all kinds of support to the state for development. 
Speaking on the occasion, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the Centre will help the Rajasthan government under the principle of Cooperative Competitive Federalism to ensure growth. 
Out of the 100 destinations shortlisted under the Smart Cities programme, four of them belong to Rajasthan, he said. 
Extending support for the development of the state, Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar said the government will facilitate Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd to set up a brownfield fertilizer unit at Gadepan in Rajasthan to produce 12.7 Lakh Metric Tonne of Urea with the investment of Rs 5,500 crore. 
Kumar announced that the Government will also invest Rs 100 crore for setting up a 2.4 lakh MT Single Super Phosphate plant in Chittorgarh. 

To meet the Urea demand of the state, Kumar said the central government is providing 12 lakh MT this year.
