EASTERN RAILWAY MASSIVE  SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS FOR ENSUING FESTIVALS

Kolkata, November 5, 2015:

In a bid to resist criminals/anti-social activities in railway premises, trains and railway stations, Eastern Railway has further stepped up security arrangements on the eve of forthcoming Kali Puja/Diwali, Jagatdhatri Puja and Chhat Puja festival.

The basic objectives of the security arrangements during ensuing festival are mainly fourfold i.e. to take precautionary measures against violent and subversive activities and to ensure communal peace and harmony, to ensure safety and security of passengers especially women and children during late hours, to guide and assist tourists and passengers coming from nearby districts to visit different Puja pandel in Kolkata and adjacent areas and  to regulate passengers traffic in stations and to prevent any criminal activities as a whole.

To facilitate safe, secured and hassle free journey for lady passengers, security arrangements in ladies compartment will also be stepped up. Additional RPF staff will be deployed at platforms and foot over bridges in sensitive railway stations. Security Patrolling of railway track especially over the maoist affected section will be invigorated.  Surprise checks and dacoity checks will be conducted at regular interval.

There will be maximum utilization of Sniffer Dog Squads for checking at the important stations, passenger areas, Mail/Express/Passenger/EMU trains. PASSENGERS ARE EARNESTLY REQUESTED NOT TO TOUCH ANY UNCLAIMED/UNIDENTIFIED/SUSPICIOUS OBJECTS IN TRAINS AS WELL AS IN STATION PREMISES. Frequent announcement will be made about this and also of modus-operendi of drugging criminals in all stations.

Officers and security personnel will remain extra vigilant and will conduct random checks at all entry and exit points of different stations. Security of different stations will be monitored by CCTV by officers from time to time. Anti-sabotage checks and checking of explosives by explosive detector will be continued with vigorous drives launched against carrying of inflammable articles, fire crackers and illicit liquor. Action against pick-pocketing, theft of passenger’s belongings and menace of drugging will also be stepped up.

Disaster management team will also be kept in readiness to meet any exigency/eventuality.
