Maharashtra may award Dahisar-Andheri and Dahisar-Mankhurd works to DMRC

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government is seriously considering giving two proposed corridors of Mumbai Metro i.e. Dahisar – Andheri and Dahisar – Mankhurd to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) after the latter expressed interest in the same. The state government has also asked DMRC to revise the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and master plan of Mumbai Metro that was prepared in 2003.

Dahisar-AndheriSources said DMRC had expressed willingness to take up the said two out of six proposed corridors of Mumbai Metro before chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in a meeting held in Delhi on July 8. For the rest of the corridors including Wadala – Ghatkopar – Thane – Kasarvadavali, Wadala – GPO, Jogeshwari – Vikhroli Link Road and Andheri E — BKC, the agency had agreed to provide technical help to the implementing agency appointed by the state

government.“The corridors will be given on turnkey basis where the implementing agency will be DMRC. The entire work will be done by the agency on behalf of the state government. Once the corridor is operational, it will be handed over to the government,” said a senior officer requesting anonymity.

Another senior official pointed out that this would be the first instance where an agency other than the Maharashtra government would be completing corridors of Mumbai Metro.

The state government had also asked DMRC to revise the DPR and master plan of Mumbai Metro. DMRC has to submit the DPR by August 31.
