Pamban (PBM): Thousands of people arrived from various parts of the country and gathered at the narrow mohallas around the Mohideen Aandavar Mosque in Rameswaram for former President A P J Abdul Kalam’s Alvida Namaaz during this morning, as the Indian Railways have added more passenger coaches to the special passenger trains running between Madurai and Rameswaram and to alter its timings for the benefit of people who want to attend the funeral of former President A P J Abdul Kalam on Thursday.
As a mark of “Special Respects” to “His Excellency Bharata Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam”, former President of India, the Driver of the Train No.56723 Madurai – Rameswaram Special Passenger train blew ‘Horn’ aboard Passenger Train from Pamban Bridge for 3 minutes which was Dr.Abdul Kalam’s nostalgic link to past and present. The horn was heard by all the dignitaries and crowd present there attending the final rites for Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.
The Special Train reached Rameswaram at 10.45 a.m. with four general second class coaches and one luggage-cum-brake van with accommodation for the disabled, in addtion to the existing nine general second class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans.
