IRCTC arranges reserved tickets for Yemen evacuees
The Railway ministry has pressed into service the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to organise reserved train tickets for Indians being flown to Mumbai from strife-torn Yemen.
According to IRCTC officials, the West Zone office headquartered in Mumbai has made arrangements of issuing reserved tickets to the evacuees from Yemen arriving at the international airport in Mumbai from April 2, 2015. “We have set up a counter at the Mumbai airport, with required peripherals like computer with internet connectivity, printers to issue e-tickets to these passengers who are required to continue their journey back to their respective hometowns in coordination with the concerned zonal railways” said an official.
On April 2, IRCTC issued 66 e-tickets to these passengers who arrived at the International Airport in Mumbai in the wee hours. The tickets issued were for all various parts of the country especially the South and West Bengal. “More such batches are to arrive in due course of time for which IRCTC is ready with its required arrangements” said the official.
