SOUTHERN RAILWAY CONDUCTS PULSE POLIO IMMUNISATION CAMPAIGN

Southern Railway joins hands with the Nation in the mission to sustain India Free from Polio.  All the Divisions and Units of the Medical Department in Southern Railway are in preparedness to administer polio drops to all the children below 5 years of Railway men and the travelling public on 18thJanuary, 2015 and o­n 22nd February, 2015, the days for Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation across the Nation.

Dr. T. Anjaiah, Chief Medical Director has planned 245 polio immunisation booths covering major railway stations, railway colonies, railway hospitals and railway health units.  The service will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in all major railway stations.  Extensive measures have been planned to cover the children living in the outreach, slums and transit migrants on the sides of railway stations through mobile teams.  St. John Ambulance Brigade & Scouts and Guides of Southern Railway are being roped in to assist the medial officers in this programme.

 Follow up service will be rendered o­n the second and third days to those children who miss polio drops o­n the first day.Wide publicity has been made to encourage parents to bring their children to the pulse polio immunization booths.About 30,000 children are expected to benefit from this campaign.
