NORTHERN RAILWAY ASSIGNS TOP PRIORITY TO MOVEMENT OF RELIEF MATERIAL, PROVIDES AMENITIES & FACILITATION MEASURES TO FLOOD VICTIMS OF JAMMU & KASHMIR

Northern Railway has been undertaking all out efforts to reach out to the victims of the flood affected persons from the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Teams of Railway officers and staff are working round the clock to ensure that distraught survivors of the calamity reached their hometowns through special train services.

28000 FLOOD AFFECTED PERSONS CLEARED  

Northern Railway has made special arrangements to clear flood affected persons from Katra, Udhampur, Jammu and Delhi area free of charge by running special trains, attaching additional coaches and by regular trains . As many as 28,000 flood affected persons have been cleared by the regular trains, Special trains or by attaching extra coaches to regular trains so far.

TRANSPORTS 24000 RAIL NEER BOTTLES WITH 12.5 TONS OF RELIEF MATERIAL FROM DELHI THROUGH PARCEL VANS TRANSPORTED WITH WAIVER OF FREIGHT COSTS

Parcel Vans carrying 22 tons of Rail Neer(24000 bottles) packaged drinking water which was supplied by IRCTC and 12.5 tons of relief material received from Red Cross society has been transported to the fold hit areas in Parcel Van o­n 9.9.2014 and 10.9.2014 respectively.  The freight was waived and the movement was done o­n top priority by Northern Railway.

SPECIAL TRAIN FACILITIES FOR FLOOD AFFECTED PASSENGERS WITH FREE JOURNEY TICKET

Specials trains were run from Jammu Tawi to Indore via New Delhi to clear stranded passengers o­n 11.9.2014. Two special trains were run from Udhampur to Lucknow, o­ne from Udhampur to Amritsar o­n 13.9.2014 and o­ne special train each departed from Udhampur  to Ambala and Anand Vihar was run o­n 14.9.2014 to clear the stranded passengers. Free E.F.T are being issued to the flood affected persons at Jammu-Tawi, Udhampur, Katra, Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi Jn. and New Delhi stations for their o­nward journey by trains.

The flood affected passengers arriving at Delhi Jn., New Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal from Jammu & Kashmir are being cleared from Delhi by trains. On 13.9.2014, Northern Railway cleared around 600 passengers from Anand Vihar Terminal for Islampur, Allahabad, Araria Cantt, Bettiah, Katihar, Lalganj, Narkatiaganj, Purania, Kiahanganj, Darbhanga,Bugha,Malda Town and Jogbani by Jansadharan, Sampark Kranti, Lichhavi Express and Vikramshila Express trains.

WAITING ROOM o­n PF NO. 1 OF NEW DELHI STATION EARMARKED FOR KASHMIR BOUND PASSENGERS, RAILWAY MEDICAL AID POSTS AND FACILITIES LIKE FOOD & DRINKING WATER AT NEW DELHI (WITH NGOs ASSISTANCE)

A waiting room has been exclusively  earmarked o­n platform no.1 of New Delhi railway station (towards Sadar Bazar end) for the aid of passengers traveling from the Kashmir valley.  595 nos. flood affected passengers from Kashmir valley who had arrived at Anand Vihar Terminal by Special Train o­n 13.9.2014 were issued Free Journey tickets by Railways for different destinations.  Free meal was arranged for these passengers through Sisganj Gurudwara.   362 nos. flood affected passengers from Kashmir valley had arrived at Old Delhi Railway Station by 14034 Jammu Mail o­n weekend were issued free journey tickets.  A special train consisting of 16 passengers coaches departed from Udhampur yesterday(14.9.2014) carrying about 2500 nos. flood affected passengers. Facilities were made to the passengers who arrived at Anand Vihar Terminal by the Special Train.  Apart from Medical Team, Railway Protection Force Personnel, Civil Defence and Scouts wing were also available to assist these passengers o­n their arrival at Platfrom No.1.  Special booking counters were arranged at the station for issue of Free Journey tickets.  Free meals were arranged for these passengers.  Medical Aid Post was also available at the station and Railway Doctor attended the affected people.

Help Desks have also been set up at Jammu, Udhampur, Katra railway stations for the convenience of the passengers. A special help Desk of railways has also been set up at T-3 Terminal Indira Gandhi Nation Airport, New Delhi to guide and facilitate passengers about rail journey. 

NODAL CENTRES ESTABLISHED IN FIROZPUR &DELHI DIVISIONS FOR GREATER CO-ORDINATION & FACILITY OF EVACUESS OF JAMMU & KASHMIR REGION

The officers of Firozpur Division are working round the clock at Shri Mata Vashno Devi Katra, Udhampur and Jammu Tawi railway stations to receive the flood affected persons arriving at these stations and making arrangements for o­nward journey to their respective destinations. Other Divisions of Northern Railway, including Delhi Division, have also made similar arrangements to clear the flood victims, as and when arriving at their stations. The situation is being monitored regularly at Railway Board level, Northern Railway Headquarter level and Firozpur Division level.
