Landslide on Kirandul-Kottavalasa section cause Rs.30 Crore loss to ECOR

The Railways has incurred a revenue loss of nearly Rs 30 crore as the train service to Kirandul and Kotabalsa has been disrupted due to the landslide on this route on Monday last

Visakhapatnam (VSKP):  It will take two days more to clear the route and the loss may further increase, sources from the department concerned informed, adding, the Railway department gets revenue of Rs 5 crore per day.

At least 12 freight trains used to primarily procure coal and iron ore and also some agriculture produces on the track daily.

The railway is also sustaining revenue loss in tickets as the movements of Samaleswari, Hirakhand and Durg express along with a passenger train through this route have been affected due to the blockage.


Besides, due to rain in Koraput district, the Koraput-Jagdalpur route has been halted and all trains are returning back from Koraput for the last six days.

As per the railway authority, though tracks at five places have already been cleared, it may take two days more to clear the tracks at another two places between the K-K rail line and Maliguda.
